Well _that_ was some dark shit from Gord! Living right across the river from Kingston, Ontario (The Hip's hometown), I hear a good many of their songs on K-Rock, but never anything _this_ Goddamn dark. 😳
I think we need some deep, really knowledgeable Hip fans to weigh in on Gord Downie's monologue here. It's engrossing for sure...but is there any known backstory to it? Or is it purely random, stream of consciousness speaking in the moment?
@@manguy2000 Coincidentally that is my favorite song of theirs and I did connect this to that through the phrase "dumping the bodies" but, admittedly I don't know all the lyrics of "Locked in the Trunk of a Car" well enough to know if they correspond to this entire story here, but now I will check them out. The rocking-ness of "Locked in..." has been enough for me to love it but now I'm curious about the rest of the lyrics. Thanks for this tip!
@@manguy2000 Ok, just checked 'em out. Thanks -- more correspondences... appreciate it. I guess the only other thing I'd wonder is if this is a story Gord heard about (I'm assuming HE, in his life, was not the protagonist of it). So, is it non-fiction, or did it come just from his imagination? I would think it's probably the former, that he did hear about this happening, someone he either knows or just read about.... Not important, I'm just thinking out loud.
