I just listened to this album for the first time after knowing about Sublime for like 10years I feel so stupid because they’re literally one of my favorite bands now I missed so much
Please review "Lay Down" with Melanie & The Edward Hawkins Singers live in the Netherlands. You will not regret it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IZ52lk9wjZI.html
This CD is one you can play all the way through. Their lead singer Bradley has passed along with Lou, their Dalmation. I am sure they met up with Jerry and are jamming along with you today.
The last verse is not in the original, it's pure Sublime. These guys were playing while the original Dead lineup was still touring in the early 90's, so this is kinda their spin on picking some crazy hippy chick up at a Dead show and going on Dead tour.
Anything you review by Sublime will be, well, sublime. Such an amazing band. I remember finding them about 2 years before Brad passed away and have loved them ever since. Do more of them please Jamel.
Someone, anyone, needs to react to their cover of Marley's 'Trenchtown Rock.' All of Sublime's songs are Reggae influenced...and they do a number of covers.
Their covers are amazing, but don’t skip their original songs. “40 ounces to freedom” is a great album to start with. “Sublime” is probably their most popular album, because of the hit single. All sorts of great music though, and another creative life cut short.
Check out the entire Deadicated album - fantastic bunch of covers by great musicians. And Jimmy Buffett does a really good cover of Scarlet Begonias as well
It’s got a reggae, hip-hop, and some sounds you’d hear in the bario coming from a low rider. Always loved this version from the first listen. Usually Dead covers are slightly vanilla but this is 🔥. I actually love almost all Sublime covers. Stepping Razor is one example. Please do more Sublime. It’s another enjoyable rabbit 🐇 hole 🕳️.
I just saw this and man I’m so happy to see you finally get to Sublime!! One of my favorites and knew it would be a home run with you. Dig in deep with these guys ✌🏻
Bro, I had seen a few of your reactions in the past and I didn't know what to expect seeing you react to this. This just made my fucking day for real. I'll be watching plenty more of your videos. You have a very keen ear props to you
There is no such thing as a bad Sublime song they are top tier! They also discovered Slightly Stoopid which is my FAVORITE eva!!! Change your life and check out Slightly stoopid.
Lou Dog lives on at my house. She's not a Dalmatian but has Lou Dog Vibes. This album came out when I was in college in 94 I think. Jerry DEFINITELY knows this cover. Listen to Date Rape. Legend song!
You gotta listen to this album from track 1 to track 12. The album as a whole has a rhythm to it like Dark Side of the Moon and Paul’s Boutique by Beastie Boys!
One of my favorites! I felt so cool when I could finally sing along to the "We sold some mushroom tea, we sold some ecstasy, we sold nitrus, opium, acid, heroin and PCP "
This is what actually introduced ME to the dead! I love seeing you still doing this. They do have a live version that goes into an early version of "what I got" and it's pretty much their jammed out scarlet/fire
Every song on 40 oz to freedom is awesome. Great album and this song is one of my favorites. The melody, the reggae style, that bass line. Damn I love this song.
I love how all these reactors who I was watching for Rage are finding Sublime now. It’s crazy to me that they’re not known like Nirvana and some of the other 90’s staples
You really need to keep going with Sublime! They are great! You might check out one of my all-time favorites "What I Got" (link below). It's upbeat and fun to listen to or sing along with, and you would love it! Thanks for this reaction, Jamel! ✌💙✌ What I Got - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0Uc3ZrmhDN4.html
Michael 'miguel' Happoldt sings this song until the bridge of the song when Bradley takes over. Bradley wasn't much of a deadhead like Miguel was. RIP Bradley
SUBLIME GIVES THANKS TO "THE POLICE" THE BRITISH BAND THEY WERE THE FIRST TO MIX AND COMBINED THE SOUNDS OF "JAMAICAN REGGAE SKA & PUNK ROCK " THEY WERE THE FIRST TO EVER DO IT SO MANY BANDS WOULDN'T HAVE THE SOUND THEIR KNOWN BY IF IT WASN'T FOR THE POLICE THANKS FOR SHARING JAMEL_AKA_JAMAL ✌🏼& LO💚E MY BROTHER HUGE RABBIT HOLE YOU SHOULD BE ON 2 MORE TRACKS YOU SHOULD HAVE ON THE LIST SUBLIME 🎶💚💛❤️🎶 SAME IN THE END & BAD FISH
By far one of the best albums ever. The entire album is a groove. I grew up with this playing somewhere in the background. Car, house party anything. Great choice dude!!!
What made this album great is his love for reggae and his ability to cover the songs that nobody knows unless you're a Reggae head. Then put their own spin on it. Alot of subtle covers that if you don't listen to reggae you would think he wrote them.
SANTERIA!!! One of my favourite ever songs. The other cover I love from 40 oz is Smoke Two Joints, because it just WORKS. I also love a little track called Date R*pe, but I don't reckon you'd get away with reacting to that one on RU-vid! Anyway, whole album is *chef's kiss*, but I'd love to see you review Santeria and What I Got from the self-titled album...I THINK they're pretty safe. 😊😊😊
Would love to see you do a series of videos where you react to a song by the original artist and then 2 or 3 covers by other bands. It would be cool to see hear your reactions to the different versions. Knockin on Heavens door would be a great one to start with
One of my favorite Sublime songs and I just learned on your channel it was a cover! 20+ years and I thought it was an original. Imma have to look up how the original version is now.
if you dont have any preconcieved notions about the grateful dead, then you will probably like it. one of the easier songs of theirs to listen to i believe.
@@emptybraincase4181 I've never to my knowledge heard a Grateful Dead song. All I know about them is they're a big time "hippy" band, and that they've been around since forever. I know their logos of course, but not their music.
@@blckgrd country folk Americana acid rock blues jazz jam band. And yeah, you've probably heard more than one Dead song but never realized it. Movie sound tracks (American Beauty, Mask, Runaway Bride and many others) at the very least...
Huge sublime fan here. Didn’t know this was a cover. A friend kept singing the song and I was puzzled cuz it sounded slow and boring. Thought she was just a really really bad singer. Then one day she was in the car with me and I popped in the CD (yes, this was almost 20 years ago). When she heard it we finally figured out she was singing the boring original. This version far surpasses the original!
The album is an instant classic, we’d fill the van w/friends and go see them live in 1995 at Concord pavilion w/No Doubt and Sacramento w/skanking pickle and later at the Petaluma phoenix, theater, then next night in San Francisco with the voodoo glow skulls, and sadly the following day receiving the bad news of singer Bradley’s death about same time their best and final album dropped and exploded nationwide was the most tragic story imaginable, of course with a stupid rockstar style ending 😞
Get Ready from the self titled album is a hidden gem. It was my second cd I had ever purchased then came Radiohead ok Computer perhaps the best album I’ve ever heard back then. Next, Evil Empire by Rage Against the Machine. After that I lost track but many good ones and bad ones. I would love to see you listen to a lot of covers, Wicked Game, by HIM, Don’t Dream it’s over by Six Pence non the Richer, Moonlight Shadow by Patty Gurdy, Don’t fear the Reaper by HIM, Here Comes the Sun, by Ghost. It’s a Sin by Ghost as well. Wish you were Here by Avenged Sevenfold actually really well done. Avenged Sevenfold grew up near Sublime in Long Beach California
