Trail Camera Wildlife Mysteries

Often at night we wonder about the wild sounds heard just inside the forest. Using a high definition motion activated camera I was curious to experiment and see what species would walk in front of the camera. After a lifetime of tracking animals by prints in the snow and mud this was something very different for me to try. Seeing them go about their day nearly undisturbed tells me this is something I will be having lots of fun with in the coming months. Stay tuned as we see just how many amazing things we can discover exploring our Motion Camera Wildlife.
I'm Mark Fraser and I'll see you next time and until then, you can join me online and catch up on all the exciting Nature Walks news at my website;
www.naturewalkswithmark.org and thanks to the support of wonderful friends wildlife has a new voice! As of mid 2012 there is new conservation organization helping to raise wildlife awareness called the Nature Walks Conservations Society! www.naturewalksCS.org. We really can make a difference! Watch for us on Facebook!

The Sasquatch screams in the background , being mistaken for a Coy wolf , is very mysterious because that octave , power and tone , is in a class all by itself , and otherworldly unique .

I have a trail cam set up 10 yards from my fence. West of me is 400 acres of woods. east of me is a typical neighborhood. It blows me away at the different kinds of animal that come by my house. And the number of deer. Next trail cam will have audio. I have many Video on my channel that were taken 40 yards from my front door.

Howdy Mark. Thanks for sharing you trail cam recordings with those of us who appreciate Nature, in all its simplistic and complex interactions. I am especially grateful to be able to watch wildlife on RU-vid, since I am no longer able to do it in person. I wonder if there are others who would be interested in learning how to purchase, install, service, use, and produce videos from trail cams. Happy and Safe Trails to you and all you viewers. I’m surprised we haven’t seen a Sasquatch yet from the thousands of these trail cams that are set every year hmmmm? Anyone ?
@wisdomlounge4452
@wisdomlounge4452 3 года назад
That's exactly what I've been saying! If Bigfoot aka Sasquatch was real we would be talking about a creature that in spite of it's enormous size has successfully evaded the tens of thousands of motion activated trail cameras within it's habitat. And it's gotta be much smarter than all other animals and Humans too, for keeping a flawless perfect record of zero road kills! I call BS on Bigfoot. Obviously, there are no giant Chewbacca-like animals living in the woods.

Never having used a trail cam ru-vid.comUgkx2sTDdZXomuxedMg_HothfjSXjR3rpPkA before, I was very impressed with the quality of the images and videos. The sensitivity of the camera can be adjusted as well as the length of video recordings. Once I found the sweet spot, I was getting great clips of deer and other animals almost every day. I was worried about battery life but have been running off the same 4 aa batteries for over a month. The SD card is easy to remove and connect to a computer. I have a Mac, and the AVI files open natively in QuickTime and are easy to save and share. This is a great, budget-friendly trail cam.

For all the "what mystery" posts, there is a lot of clickbait out there! This is not! Great video, and editing. Thanks for the look! I felt the mystery of seeing the woods at night. If you have ever walked in the woods at night, it can be pretty spooky. Especially in the winter when the trees are cracking in the wind. This is cool!

Having predators does balance the ecosystem. Predators keeping the deer moving along so they dont over browse is a bit of a stretch. Any place prey animals are present, predator animals will be present. Deer seasonally relocate to areas where they can browse on early successional forest. A winter deer yard will show signs of over browsing anywhere because its what they do. They browse.

+nwwmark I'm not a naturalist who goes out in the woods anymore, but I'm surprised how many calls I can identify, compared to younger generations as there is less exposure nowadays. What I'm curious about, as I've been trying to make a collection of the same, is how did you identify the howl of a coywolf and differentiate it from a wolf? Was it just because of the timing and proximity of this video at the time?

Deer are quite silent when they know a danger is near. I even had one get down on her belly and slip through the water to avoid notice. she passed only a few yards from my stand and by the time I saw her it was too late to pull off a shot.

Regarding moose, you should be careful along roads/highways in the spring also because 1. they like salt and they will stand there to lick it from the salt trucks that came by in the winter and 2. flies - horse flies as we call them are sizable and hurt when they bite. A swarm of them can cause moose to run everywhere including onto roads to get away from them. The color of moose blends in with the dark and the legs end at the height of a typical sedan's roof so it is easy to miss them until you are on them.

Gears or cogs in trail cams ? What for ? Range, focus, zoom etc can be achieved by pure silent electronic means if needed. The principal operates on the exact same way a speaker does. This is the exact method used for focus on a laser in a cd or DVD player and it's very efficient. Way more efficient than the manipulation of mechanical devices. I could probably see use for a stepper motor system at times but even that uses more power than a magnetic coil with an induced voltage that's determines position over the magnet by varying the induced voltage. Certainly not the way I would design a camera used for long term use spanning months. One thing these cameras do give off is the smell of the manufacturing process, another is infrared, and another thing us silly humans tend to forget about are the multitudes of internal oscillators. Just because people think something has a silent operation, doesn't mean animals can't hear devices screaming within their true range of hearing. Eg? If people have ever turned on an old analog cathode ray tube TV and set the volume low, many people can hear the oscillator that drives the 110 volt line, the audio section, plus the HT lead that injects around 22,000 volts (for just small TVs) into the tube. That high frequency whistle just on a PAL TV is 15.625 KHz. I have no doubt that many animals can hear the oscillators in trail cams, including Bigfoot. Which seems to be able to see infrared. Us humans aren't that smart when compared to animal instincts.

Hi, nice videos, I was going to ask what is the kind of camera, clear and cool to watch, but ( always a but :) night shot are not to great, maybe something was wrong but I would like a game cam like that, I had 3, all different models and not that easy to find a good one, I got 2 stolen or some animals what to bring it home for selfies lol, the last one stop and never work again, no sign of anything that could help me to find out what happen and all my collection of videos was stolen in my house 2 years ago, also I want to say I work for wildlife rescue and release ( I have like 4 places and they call me when they need me, I cant talk to much on internet but you got the point I hope ) no matter the problems I always come, I will do anything for animals because they dont have a voice but I'm the voice ) when ready or if they cant go back we dont kill them, they have a nice place and have some friends, it is important to make them feel happy, if you do what you say you do you probably understand me, this video is from 2012 so not sure if you will see it, I will try your website soon that I have a chance if it still there, thank you for what you do and I sub today I never see your videos before, pretty cool :)

Nice video, thanks for sharing it. I am confused by your comment on the camera and hearing the gears. This is a digital trail camera with an infrared light. What gears are you talking about? Is there a flash for daylight photos and you hear the flash going off? These types of camera's aren't like SLR's. There aren't any shutters etc thus no gears. They are all electronic.
