I have a Montana 680t (similar to your 650t) and considering swapping for the Voyager Pro. I know the Garmin will have all the street maps, POI's, etc. but wondering how you have so far found the topo maps are for offroading? Do they have lots of trails listed? Even if I add a track in my Garmin and follow it, sometimes we deviate and I can see the vast majority of trails showing up on my Montana. Does the voyager have that level of trail detail that you've found?

Great and informative video..... thank you! I am into off road motorcycle riding and snomobiling. I'd like to buy a few second mounting kits that includes the wiring harnesses for power, tach, RF antena, etc, but I've not been able to find any that include these. Do you know of a source? Also, the included small hex key wrench (Allen wrench) is apparently used to lock the mount...... how is this done? I have not seen an area where the wrench is intended to fit into. Any info would be much appreciated!

Yeah it took me awhile to figure out the allen key. It's on the side of the mount there is a small deep hole. Insert the allen and you can tighten it down. I don't bother, people don't know that it can come off.

You will need to put them on as a GPX file format which is pretty common format. If you are talking base maps, nope totally different.

I have not heard that they are. This unit is still pretty top notch. However due to the mounting holder I just took it off the Beta as the pins break too much and I got tired of it and don't really need it to know where I am at.

It turns to night mode if you want, and yes you can also change the brightness

Hello! I would like to buy my first GPS and am in doubt about some things ... I would like to know your opinion ... I saw in some videos, I believe that the biggest difference between Voyager Pro and Garmin GPS is that the Garmin, traces the turn-by-turn route, like a GPS for car, just enter an address and it traces the route, for example. That's right? Voyager Pro does not do that from what I saw ... I would have to load the routes I would like to do, create in some program or download them from somewhere ... Am I right or wrong? In your opinion, this is something that bothers or disturbs some situation ? My use would be on tracks here in Brazil, where I already have some tracks that I recorded with my cell phone through App Ride With GPS. I do not know if I download these routes, they would be compatible with Voyager Pro. I can save them in GPX ... I would also use some Baja races that we have here, in some the organizers offer the track of the race for better visualization, not to depend only on the directional signs, but here everyone uses Garmin, including in Rally Cross Country races ... Someone once told me that the system that Garmin uses is different, but it was back when there was only Voyager. I do not know if there was any upgrade related to this in Voyager Pro. I do not know if these tracks, which are probably created by some Garmin device or somewhere program, for Garmin, would be compatible with Voyager Pro. Can you tell if they are compatible? Get a GPX track on Garmin, and put it on Voyager Pro .. Thanks for the attention and sorry for the long text....

You can put a waypoint and then press and hold on the waypoint to bring up a menu to select Navigate. I haven't used this feature and stumbled across it. What you can not do is enter an address and navigate that way, or select gas station and see what is out there. I think I'm unique though because I don't use a GPS for this. Plus most trails wouldn't be navigable even on a Garmin, they will take you on roads or dirt roads. Yes, you can load GPX files onto the Voyager Pro, in that regard that is easier to do then my Garmin Montana 650t. As long as those tracks are in a GPX file you shouldn't have any issues loading it. I don't know what you mean by "system", even though I had a Voyager I never used it for GPS feature I just used it as a dash due to the fact the Voyager was outdated and my Garmin Montana 650t was a lot better. A GPX file is for the most part a GPX file. What you can not load is KMZ, KML, or other GPS formats, strictly GPX files. Although more complicated to understand a KMZ has a GPX fiel in it, it's just a container holding that GPX file but can offer some extra benefits like designing your route in Google Earth or Garmin's program to be multi colored. Although if you are loading many GPX of a single race or loop and want various section to be different color you can select the color in the Voyager Pro for individual GPX files.

Thanks for answering! I think the system they told me about should be referring to those other formats you mentioned (KMZ, KML ..), I think it would give them a bit more "work" for them ... As everyone practically uses Garmin, everything already must be suitable for use in any Garmin. For use in Voyager, or Voyager Pro, they would have to convert everything to GPX, I do not know if this would suddenly cause some conflict with some information that they put in the other formats. But if Garmin also uses GPX files, I honestly do not understand what the problem would be ... Anyway ... It may also be because they have no contact with Voyager Pro (Here in Brazil does not have the device) and are more accustomed to Garmin. I think I'm going to buy Voyager Pro. I saw a video of the Trail Tech itself, but it was from the original Voyager, that I can create tracks in several places(Google Earth..), including transferring from any Garmin, just convert to GPX. If the original Voyager works like this, Voyager Pro certainly works, too. Thank you very much!

Garmin Montana 650t saves the tracks in a GPX file format , it will read those other formats but honestly GPX is more common. If you need to find free legal trails try www.TrailTaker.com it's free to use and just make an acct to download tracks...right now only for the US

Luiz dos S. Neto this might be helpful for you. I’ve only had it a day so technically, I don’t have much to offer. It appears to be a desktop solution for making and editing tracks. It was after I saw this that I knew I could replace my Garmin Oregon 600. Looks like you can plan your routs etc. Hope that it helps. rideleader.com
