I watched this video when my tb blew a rod and yes that would be a much easier way if you have a lift but i took my front end off (headlights and core support) and i was able to pull the engine, trans, and transfer case all in one out the front. Thanks for the vid it sure helped out alot.
Man when i did min3 all i had to do was remove radiater seperate harness remove ac lines because it needed recharged anyways climb under remove all skid plates the diff from oil pan both sides remove motor mounts and brackets remove driveline and crossmember and had perfect amount of room to pull it right out torque converter included only took me about 5 hours to have my engine on ground thats 1 guy no lift and my first time ! By the way went back together in 6 hours with me taking my sweet time . Not including cleaning all parts and i only charged the guy $600 labor for whole job .
you can see the dark oil stain in the old engine from when he shows the oil pan hole, so the maintance was for sure not looked after, my 1994 350 we have had since 75k km's now at 364k replaced head gaskets 20k ago because i had a bad lifter figured what the hell might as well, cross hatching still looked like a 20k engine, ANY engine is a good engine just do your fluid changes, and i dont mean just oil EVERYTHING
thanks - I'm getting the differential fluid replaced and the seals replaced for front and back on an 04 Trailblazer with 235K on it - it's in the shop now. I hope it saves the engine - like you say. Maybe we can get to 364K - you still have that 1994?
I need a new bracket where my upper rear trailing arm and brake line are attached. Good old Midwest rust.😫 Anyway, to weld a new bracket on, would the body have to be raised off the frame? Or is it possible to bolt or weld a new one in without separating them? I'd say there's at most a have inch of clearance between the two. And if they do have to be separated, what's a ballpark price? Thanks to anyone who can help me out here.
i remove and reinstall without take out the body, remove connections of the engine to the body and front end ,remove intake manifold , and the last coil remove starter and take out converter bolts from the hole of the starter ,and for the bolts in the top of the transmission i build 2 special tool with a 15mm socket and a piece of flat metal to reach them, after that with a engine hoist like normal way
i take a socket and cut it,leaving enough for the bolt head (1/2 inch aprox.) and weld 1"x1/4" flat steel bar on it and make some bend , it take so much time to take out the 2 bolts on the top but work fine
The heads are the worse they fail about 75,80,90,000 miles lose compression chevy knows and they have new heads with better seats in the heads,I hope you sold car by now
