Thank you Board Game Buzzz for reviewing this gorgeous new Trailblazer game. Honestly, the cover alone makes me want it. Absolutely stunning artwork done by the great Andrew Bosley, who did the artwork for Everdell (My favorite game of all time). This one would probably make my head hurt from all the worker placement puzzles, but the theme makes me want it anyway. I love to hike, and this game looks like it would take me on an awesome journey. Love the different sides of the board with Flora and Fauna, and the two scoring tracks. The poison coins are also a cool addition and would definitely keep you on your toes. I feel like this could also be in the running for most beautiful boardgame cover award. Great Job telling us the differences between the John Muir Trail as well. Not gonna lie, I want them both.
Suuhhh Gwarrr Ohhh...:) Both my wife and I LOVED the John Muir trail game...beautiful art, gorgeous production, and a pretty well run campaign...This one is a no brainer for me as someone who spent a lot of time in Arizona growing up. Looks even better than the John Muir game.
I haven't played the first Trailblazer game, but after watching this preview, the Arizona Trail is a no-brainer instant back. I love the idea of having multiple puzzles you're trying to work through going on at once. Do you focus more on getting the right tiles to fill your spaces, or moving up the track to get that extra worker? Love that kind of choice in games! Thanks for a fantastic and detailed preview, Carly! This one is going to be hard to wait for!
I love the John Muir Trail! Beautiful production and so much fun to play! This one looks very busy. I will probably back it but watching your video gave me anxiety😅 So many things to manage!
What a beautiful game. Reminds me a bit of Parks - which I love. Haven't played the first Trail one either. What a gorgeous cover! But why a MONSTER. Don't these board game creators know, monsters don't exist!! They don't fit into this beautiful nature. It could have been a huge bad weather cloud instead (forcing you to stay behind). lol Nice video.
@@boardgame_buzzz Haha, thanks for the clarification. I looked it up. Very interesting. Learned something new. So at least ONE monster IS real. Strange it's in it's name. Now this game will be an instant buy. Thanks so much.
I have JMT and at first, thought I didn't need this Arizona Trail game. Now I think I need this Arizona Trail game - and has me wondering if I should sell off JMT between now and the release of this game!! Of course, what if I sell JMT then get this AT, then play it and decide it's too tight a game for me and maybe I preferred JMT. Such a dilemma! 😂 I am sure the solution is Kickstart this game (AT) and decide on selling something after I have and play both!
It would be helpful to be able to see the full board in focus while you're talking about it. Every time you mentioned an area you would point at it, flash a quick 5 second clip, then revert back to the face cam. It's hard to get a feel for or even admire the board when we can't really see it.
Thanks for the informative video. I really like so much of what you’ve shown for this game, but I really dislike the mechanism of the monster. I wish it were an optional variant. Oh well. Probably makes this pass for me.
@mariposagames I’m a bit leery about simply throwing out a mechanism of a game. Is there an official variant that provides a carch-up mechanism without negative player interaction?
