Is it? Cuz I gotta say, I got a pretty “open mind” when it comes to humor and I heard so many people tell me how great Trailer Park Boys was…. ….only to finally watch it and feel it was stupid AF.
@@poindextertunes shit hawks was after shit rope, shit winds, and shitisms in general. They were all before Shithawk which didn't arrive until the 2006 TPB The Movie which came out between Season 6 and Season 7. John Dunsworth said JP was in charge of all the shitisms in both versions of the show (JP and Robb writing on every single episode except the 1 hour Showcase Series Finale).
I got to see Trailer Park Boys live on their first tour. It was absolutely the best comedy show I’ve ever been to. The show started with Julien selling $20 hotdogs to ppl in the crowd bcuz we were all “Stoned and drunk” 😂 Bubbles said selling $20 hotdogs was “pretty greasy” 🤣 they had an intermission where we all went to the smoking area and got high. The electricity in the air after the intermission was something I have yet to experience before or since. Great fkn show 💯
Robb Wells is a brilliant person with many college credentials. Being so smart is crucial to being convincingly "stupid". Almost all Rickyisms are made up on the spot. Everyone is aware to react in-character and keep the film rolling. When "The Boys" bought out the rights to the show, the biggest challenge was getting the rights to the theme song, as that was being held on to with a TIGHT grip.
Mike Smith saved my life, sent me for stem cell for the worlds most painful disease. He is a hero. (thats me in the video in the jail scenes sitting next to Mike)
I am Canadian, and I have been watching the trailer park boys since the beginning of season one. I first thought it was like the program cops, but from the criminal point of view. Then Ricky was shot several times, and I realized what the show was about. This is one of the very few programs, which I can watch repeatedly. 🇨🇦
So was it on public tv or on cable in Canada? Because I am American I was introduced to the show on RU-vid about 15 years ago. I did get to see them live 10 years ago. What a great show. Since weed is legal in Canada I wonder what the boys would do for money now?😂
@@MrDan11422 The show was on cable. Now it is on Netflix. Including the movies. They also have a podcast, with new episodes every week, called trailer park boys Park after dark.
Trailer Park Boys is my favorite show. I can and have rewatched all the episodes, specials and movies time and time again. It really is a great show. Hilarious, outrageous, and sometimes it is even heartwarming and heartbreaking. I would've to meet the boys in person one day. TPB is the only reason I still have a Netflix subscription

One of the funniest shows ever i remember when I was deep into it i started a new job and asked a a coworker if he liked it and he said it was stupid I then realized he didn't understand great humor i still work with him and he is not funny
They should've ended this show after mike clattenberg left. It all seems like an improvised thing...but it's not. Mike is the genius behind all of this, not "the boys". They are simply actors and occasional co-writers. But it became such a huge cash cow and cultural phenom, the people involved seem to have forgotten that what truly elevated it into classic territory is the heart and soul of clattenberg
I tend to agree. The ones after Mike left are muted and bleh. I even watch their YT channel and other stuff and they really have nothing new. Just selling stuff. They at least need to hire a good writer. They're not up to the task, really.
I agree with everything you said except the occasiomal cowriters part. As Ricky and Julian wrote on every episode except the 1 hour Showcase Series Finale Special (imdb is wrong, check credits of each show or Coloured chart on Wikipedia) And Bubbles wrote for 4,5, 6 and 8-12 The writing staff for the entire series: Season 1, Clattenburg, Ricky, Julian, Ray Season 2, Clattenburg, Ricky, Julian, Ray Season 3, Clattenburg, Ricky, Julian, Jackie Torrens (Jroc's sister) Season 4, Clattenburg, Ricky, Julian, Bubbles Season 5, Clattenburg, Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Jroc, Iian Macleod Season 6, Clattenburg, Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Jroc, Iain Macleod Season 7, Clattenburg, Ricky, Julian, Iain Macleod, Tim Hannebohm Season 8, Bubbles, Ricky, Julian Season 9, Bubbles, Ricky, Julian, Jroc Season 10, Bubbles, Ricky, Julian, Jroc Season 11, Bubbles, Ricky, Julian Season 12, Bubbles, Ricky, Julian ======== With Ray and Mike Volpe (who both owned the original franchise with Clattenburg) helping on 3 various episodes and specials not mentioned above. And Iian who was also the story editor helping out in an episode as early as Season 4. Clattenburg has said in the Oral History of TPB that Ray, who as we all know came up with the idea for the show after he saw the 1999 movie at the 1999 Atlantic Film Festival, and who was in charge of daily Halifax/Dartmouth production, put himself on their 3 man writing team only after Clattenburg Ricky and Julian had already mostly written season 1 because he wanted to make sure Bubbles came off as smart. He did the same thing for season 2
I think the animated series does a good job to honor lahey's legacy because thats the only reason they animated it because laheys not there and they used his old lines for his animated character and atleast there is context for it being animated
My fav episodes is when Lahey is riding his bike around all drunk wt a breathalyzer 🤣 n he's not allowed in tha park n randy shaves his head like a Mohawk to make him look slimmer 🤣😂🤣😂
actually to the people who dont know the trailer park boys abandoned that park and in seasons 8-12 and used the bible hill trailer park near truro the old film lot is still there but they sadly had to move to trailers cause someone actually burnt down rickys so they removed them out of lot and its just a big empty space in the park
I wonder how much real connection do those cast members and producers have to an actual life in trailer park? As you can't just make up such trashiness to 100% documentary level out of imagination
Jim Lahey is a iconic character in the industry of comedy television programming. Especially in the second half of his time on the show. He played the best drunk in tv history.
I've been a fan of this show ever since watching it on us Netflix for the first time in 2014 I hope they announce something big for the future preferably I would like to see something 2023
@@jennifermarlow. oh yeah I'm from Halifax I know. I was just listing the bars that The Boys own. Lol. I forgot about the Toothy Moose. That's theirs too.
They are filming season 13 in 2024. Jail Season 2 was filmed in April 2023 Bubbles and the Shitrockers movie filmed in June and July 2023. And they are finishing up the Animated portion of Animated Season 3 by end of 2023. TP4 was supposed to film late fall but that looks like it is pushed out again (was last summer too). But it's a myth about pivoting to Animated because he passed. The boys already knew Netflix usually only does 5 seasons (8-12) for their Originals so that's why they were writing Season 1 Jail and the Animated while he was still alive in 2017. He knew the Animated was going to happen. He died October 2017 and they were already building the jail set soon after in 2018 too.
@@Jarenballor yes we are getting a new season. But no, not anyone coming back, I don't think. The idea is growing old in the park lends itself to the franchise. So if they can they want to keep this going. Think a park full of Rays with whoever is left. So far they hit all their planned schedules but the TPB 4 movie looks unlikely. As Randy is on tour in October and I believe Robb mentioned he's in Florida in Dec. So I hope the delay of that movie (it was also delayed Aug 2022) doesn't screw up the park live action. The good news is they already have a new park . No longer in Truro. They were filming in an Eastern Passage, Dartmouth park in June for Bubbles and The Shitrockers. And filmed in Europe all of July for that same movie. So yay the parks back in Dartmouth again for filming. But yes they keep us up to date on Swearnet but outside of Swearnet the last update was this time last year. Google "Update from JP from TPB, TPB Reddit" and you will see a message from him about it from one of his social media platforms and says filming another season in Sunnyvale of TPB in 2024.
No only Ricky lived in a house in that movie. But sunnyvale was in that movie too. And Sunnyvale was always supposed to be in the middle of Dartmouth in the Clattenburg era. And except for the 99 movie, Season 3 and 8-12 all the rest of the parks, fake and real, were in Dartmouth. It was only in the Netflix seasons where they place the park in more of a rural part of Dartmouth (filmed in Truro of courseas we all know). Which the only real rural part of Dartmouth is Eastern Passage. Which is ironic because of the 5 new projects 2 movies and another park Season is being filmed in a new park in Eastern Passage (1 movie already has filmed there in June).
Yeah $20,000 bail on a domestic abuse charge in a LA hotel room that didn't happen. Smith and a woman he was with were drunkenly arguing and screaming at each other in a LA hotel room. The guy next door to them called the cops and said it was a domestic abuse situation even though he didn't see it or see either of them. When the cops got there she told them he didn't touch her and it wasn't like that. She also said that later in a statement. And so they arrested him anyways and he made bail for $20,000 then the cops dropped the charges later that week. I am almost positive it was just a case of a culture shock for the guy next door who called the cops. As the drunken craziness (with no violence involved according to both of them) is just another Saturday night here in Nova Scotia.
