Purchase, comparing and viewing of new off road equipment trailer (s). We view and compare three different brands of equipment trailers from Big Tex, PJ and Carry On. We are looking to get a trailer that will be very easy to load and unload, carry additional equipment and have room for any extra's we may want to add later on. Not all trailers seem to be the same quality and versatility, it might just be worth a few extra dollars to get one that looks like it is higher quality. Come along with us as we get a new trailer and start a trailer series of video's.

I like my harbor freight trailer does all my needs and I can even take my Jon boat to the lake.Folds up to put it in my garage added a winch for an easy pull for the boat. you gotta love it for a DYI .

I could definitely see some of that being very nice for the right use. We were looking very strong at the trailer attachments, specifications as well as trailer quality. This trailer has more than met our expectations on quality but we are finding we are quickly outgrowing it. Next time a little longer and has to have the capability of holding a large front toolbox. Thanks for watching!

It was hard for us to decide between a 16ft or 18ft trailer. It was fun looking once the dealers started having a good amount of inventory in stock

This trailer place looks familiar, I believe it’s the same place where me my brother and dad went to to get my brothers 24ft 20k triple axle pj. Trailer, there was a Hardy’s next door. We’re from ohio

Don’t remember seeing a Hardy’s, it’s the dealer near Milan so not to far away from Ohio.

You guys are so great on camera! The wife is a gem because she knows so much about trailers and the construction of them! What an amazing couple. You guys are better on camera than my wife and I and we even make scripts! 😂 awesome videos guys and congrats 🎊

what are your thoughts on enclosed trailers?
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean Год назад
Enclosed trailers are great and you can do a lot more with em. Just a bit more expensive, heavier and bigger to store for us. Maybe someday we will go to an enclosed trailer.

Have you thought about aluminum trailers before you bought that one? That's going to be my next choice the more you look at trailers the more you can't make a decision.
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean

Yes we did look at them but ruled em out over price pretty quick. They are great just a lot more than we were looking to spend at the time

From what I read in reviews aluminum trailers are fine if used only on roads and even surface. Take aluminum trailers off road and the torque crack within two or three years that require welding and aluminum welding is expensive. Many said they were ditching their aluminum trailer(s) and going with steel C channel, at least 3 inch trailers.

PJ like some of the other top trailers use powder coating instead of paint. Check the manufacture date of the trailer and then check for rust. Powder coating is much more durable than paint.

Your boss is a little on the short side on my trailer I welded two jacks in the rear one on each side it serves three purposes it staiblizes the rear of the trailer when loading and when the trailer is not in use you can raise the tires of the ground to prevent flat spots you can also change a flat tire too .
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean

We did the rear stabilizers as an add on, ready rail accessories video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BcQDMtvcrAo.htmlsi=hwAwCxdGr1qFcdJf It has been nice having that for storing, loading, etc.

I noticed you purchased the trailer that has the angular frame and not tubular...I heard the angular frame is much weaker and tends to sag on heavy loads...have you had any such experience with the new trailer?

So far has been great, pulls nice (seems to be a bit smoother when under load versus no load) and no issues. So far been just over a year and doing good

I have an older trailer that I feel is a Pj.Well built.But only 76" of deck width and have a retriever dog kennel 6' ×12 ' that I can load my Honda 700 utv onto.Its 14'.Looked at a 82" wide ×18' Carry On today. Can put my kennel on it. One needs more width cause when i park the 700 on it theres only 12" on squeeze by room on the side so I can exit the trailer.Another 6" would be great.Great to take my kennel, and buggy all in one trip.The dogs have a aluminum kennel in my truck but when at camp..they can rest safely at night.
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean 4 месяца назад
I believe when we were looking they had trailers with a few different widths, this one ended up being the 83 in width one. A little wider on the roads, nice and stable and can fit a bit more on it. Only issue for us is an 18 ft might’ve been better for us to fit everything on a bit easier than this 16ft.

I ended up buying a Sure-Trac trailer because the fold-flat and removable tailgate sealed the deal for me. PJ’s are really good trailers. You guys made the right choice. Happy trails!
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean 8 месяцев назад
I do like the fold flat option for sure. Our only minor issue now is should we have got an 18ft trailer, lol. It has been great we are just surprised at how quickly we can max it out with stuff for our longer trips.

That is a nice looking trailer with the silver fenders. I’m looking now for 6’x18’ to haul a Kubota L2502 & a 5’ brush cutter. What size hitch ball coupler is on the PJ and does the tailgate fold inward & flat on the deck in case you have something that needs to stick out a bit? Your a lucky man (due to your wife). Thanks

It seems like the dealers are always running a sale or willing to come down in price a bit, with maybe the exception during Covid lockdown when no-one had anything in stock. Price is around $4650 for this one.

Good info. I am new to this but been doing research fir a single axle utility for my 4Runner. From my observation Big Tex brand thinks things out with the single axles like their 30SV line. they that have wall siding in conjunction with the pipe tube framing. What you show with their tailgate also is engineered. The tongue rake on the PJ looks possibly a bit longer.? For the supreme of the trailers, LoadTrail is pretty much the apex. Owners rave about them and their construction cannot be beat (no splatter welds). You pay top $ yet top resale is assured.
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean

Good info in your comment on these trailers! We went PJ for the accessories (ready rail accessories). We have had a Big Tex in the past and it was an excellent trailer for us. One season so far on this PJ (16 ft) and so far we love it. The sides has the accessory capability, sides were just a touch lower which works well for us - otherwise very similar to the Big Tex.
@ericscottstevens

@@DirtyJakTheDustyBean I forgot to mention Sure-Trac utilities gets high marks too, but their wall box on their utility is like 13 inches high .18 gauge compared to 24in high .16 gauge for the Big Tex box. Right now I am leaning to the Big Tex 30SV or 35SV, but prices are idiotic right now.

Nice video. I have been debating between a 14 ft and a 16 ft. The tractor guys tell me go 16. But, figured 14 can do for me and would be easier to turn around most cul-de-sacs too. Do you agree? Since you have had both.
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean
@DirtyJakTheDustyBean Год назад
If storing and pulling the trailer is not an issue then for us the 16ft has been better. Main reason is we can do more with it, we did love our 14ft mainly as it was such a good trailer quality speaking. We kind of even wish we would’ve went with a 18ft this time. Oh well maybe next time

E-track is awesome. I have a 16ft deckover trailer and I load 3 Rubicons sideways using E-track and wheel straps. By far the easiest and most secure way to haul.
