TRAILER REACTION - Persona 5: The Royal (P5R) 

So this wasn't really on my radar at all after the initial coverage of it... It is now though.

The new girl stole Joker's Jacket and Makoto's Mask to wear in her outfit. A true Phantom Thief.

I, personally, wouldn't mind a P5R LP where you play on your own time, show the occasional funny bit in the usual gameplay, and fully showed the new stuff. I'd be down for that

Nico, the thing with Ann and the doctor guy was probably a cutaway. You remember how in the original game, it would occasionally cut away to show what other characters were doing at some time, like Makoto with the principal and her sister? It's probably that, which makes sense considering the website reveals that he's a therapist that was hired after Kamoshida's change of heart to help people who were affected by him

Important things to note: -There's a scene that looks like Futaba and Sojiro are sitting down at one of the tables with Futaba's mom (who's supposed to be dead). -Morgana gets a human form like Teddie. -The new confidant is a new school counselor after the Kamishida incident. -Kasumi (new girl) transfers at the same time as Ren; looks to have a similar pre-awakening sequence as well. -Golden's tag team mechanic comes back in this game. Why it wasn't in the base game, who knows? -Additional puzzles added to the palaces.

Who takes up the most space on the box art? Joker, New Girl, and Akechi. That decision could not have been random. There has to be a story-important reason why both New Girl and Pancake-kun have such significant places on the cover. Well, whatever the reason, I'm certainly going to keep this game on my radar.

Nico. Just a reminder. There are scenes in the old game that didn't have Joker in them. Remember how they showed Shiho and Ann talking?

Atlus USA already released a teaser trailer announcing a western release for 2020.

As far as I know, Nico, this is the Golden version of P5 essentially... but I think that means more than you think it means. Golden was more than adding Marie - it added MONTHS of extra cutscenes, like the ski trip for example, toward the end of the game (referred to here in P5 as like a third semester, I heard), added bosses or a boss. changed a voice actress, just adding MORE. From that mess between the FES and P3P versions of P3, I heard people say they knew this would happen and was holding out to buy the best version of the game, lol. P3 had P3P and P3 FES P4 had P4 Golden P5 has P5 Royal All is as intended, lol. At this point though, Atlus really is just getting predictable in releasing extensions of these games. Like, they should have been released this way in the first place? But a good deal for those who didn't pick up the last version.

If the story is as drastically changed as this is starting to look like, if you wanted Nico, I think we’d love an entirely new LP for P5R I know you probably won’t since you did P5 when it was new but I’d freaking LOVE a new LP if it’s brand new

I wonder if Royal will have Ultimate Personas, like how Persona 4 Golden added the third-tier evolutions of your party members’ Personas like the “-No-Okami” variants.

So when do we get Kasumi DLC for Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight? She was practically made for it.

Honestly I wouldn’t be against you doing an entire let’s play of the game again, and I doubt most of the other penguins would either, the new content alone is looking good enough to go through everything again haha.

To break everyone hearts t the release date in the trailer is for Japan the US doesn't get it until 2020 Also to add for what's changed. The game will be longer going into the 3rd Semester instead of stopping at 2nd Semester. As you noticed the dungeon are changed a bit. And the Counselor talking to Ann a new confidant. And new girl wearing a leotard and tail coat (just wanted to point that out). Also Persona 4 Golden actually added quite a few additional scene to Persona 4 along with Marie. So it's expected that P5R will also be adding scenes and since the new girl a party member perhap some alternation to the story.

The new girl's gun isn't a pistol. It's actually a winchester rifle. Umineko taught me that :P

Look very closely at 3:48, the frame of Haru in the Monamobile, there's someone sitting behind her. Now where have I seen that blue and black striped pattern with a thigh buckle before...

This new stuff will be put across the game. Not at the end. Persona 4 golden did the same thing. Since you never played the original p4 you wouldn't know too many of the additions and changes. The original persona 4 didn't have: The Adachi social link. Mopeds The junes concert The beach New years Valentines day Skiing The epilogue Might have missed some things but I hope you get the idea. Anyway really looking forward to this.

...KICHIJOJI?!?!? Nico, you have no idea what the significance of that place is, but essentially, THAT IS THE BIRTHPLACE OF SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI, PERSONA'S PARENT SERIES. Moreover, lead series designer Kazuma Kaneko, the man who designed all the wonderful demon designs like Jack Frost, Mara, Uriel, ect that have been being used for 25 years, lived near the area. Simply put, Kichijoji is a SUPER important place to ATLUS and all the madmen who created Persona.

I really hoped we can have Shiho as a confidant now.

Nico~ If you look closely at 3:47/3:48 of this video, not sure in the actual trailer, If you see Haru looking out the window and at the bottom right, you'll see a certain striped pants leg. Stripes? Blue and Black? Which male costume in P5 has blue and black pants with a studded belt? 🤔😤 Also, the square says Auto and L3 is Log.

To answer a couple of your questions: - New girl's name is Kasumi Yoshizawa, 1st year at Shujin who moved to Tokyo at the same time as Protag did. She's also a gymnast, which reflects on her PT outfit. - Guy in white coat is Takuto Maruki, a student counselor at Shujin who arrives there after the 1st heist. He's also a new Confidant. - A "3rd Semester" is added into the game (most likely similar to that of P4G's expanded time) meaning more events and activities. Seems you missed this too, but now Futaba has an All-Out Attack, like Rise in P4G.

Actually, the game is graphically updated in a way that makes it look better on the PS4 Pro. It's not bound by having a PS3 version, so they made the textures and stuff look better. I'm fairly sure

Fun fact: The VA of new girl Kasumi is Sora Amamiya, who voices Aqua in Konosuba. Funny enough, Amamiya herself shares the same family name as P5 Protag in both anime and dancing game (look it up, it's the exact same kanji).

There’s some extra information that’s not in the trailer such as: - The Doctor Ann talks to is a new Social Link, The Consultant -A third semester is being added to the game meaning three extra months are being added to the game and possibly two extra dungeons -New Events -The new girl is named Kasumi, a transfer student to Shujin, she’s a Rhythmic Gymnast which explains her costume, a gymnast’s leotard

Dunno about you guys, but I'd like a LP of P5R. While true, we could always just watch the P5 LP again, it feels like there would be some changes in the story in this one. Maybe some stuff will have proper conclusions?

I was thinking Nico streaming P5R instead of an LP would be a nice twist! Plus he could probably finish it sooner due to those kinds of uploads being a lot lengthier than others

So there is some weird stuff in some images revealed on the website that seem to imply some major changes, like, major plot changes. So, here they are: 1. Joker at a new years celebration. Why is this significant? Because during new years, Joker should be in jail. In addition to that, Atlus claimed that the time skip between January and March, when he was in jail, would be expanded upon. This seems to imply that some major changes to the plot will be made in order to get Joker out jail during the beginning of the year. 2. The Velvet Room twins are seen outside which seems to imply some major changes to how some of the confidants are written. 3. This isn't in the images but the tagline "a second semester" was used. What this means, I have no idea. 4. This is the first major one: An image of Sojiro having coffee with Futaba is shown. What's important about this image is that it seems WAKABA ISSHIKI, Futaba's DEAD mother seems to be having coffee with them. This is the biggest suggestion of major plot divergence as Wakaba's death is a major plot point and in fact, drives most of the later story. 5. The second major one, an image of what appears to be a HUMAN FORM OF MORGANA is shown.

Silly Nico. That "skirt" was up so high because it's not a skirt at all! It's a leotard! She's a gymnast. Which brings up an interesting route to consider since Shujin ONLY cared about the volleyball team. We saw what happened with the Track Team, but what about other clubs? Hmm...

Persona 5 Royal playthrough when? The game adds a whole third semester (about 3 months) to the end of the game.

I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't have any problem with a full new Let's Play for The Royal. It might allow you to catch and point out foreshadowing you didn't on your first playthrough as well as be a bit more experienced in the game and what's going on. Even if you end up cutting out more footage because it's been shown off in the original P5, by being familiar with the game you'd most likely get through the familiar bits faster and more efficient than you did in the original LP so you can get through to the new stuff. If not, I guess you could like... stream it or something maybe? Also I think you're underestimating just how much Golden added to base Persona 4...

You could probably livestream persona 5 royal when it comes out Nico, but still considering the length of the original it will probably take multiple livestream. That unless you skip the parts where characters are talking and you only read some of the new scenes, that's the only thing I can think of really to shorten it.

I feel like 4 years is enough time to do another play-through. This version of the game is so good and Kasumi, the new girl, is amazing.

i would say its worth replaying, i havent played the original so i wouldent compare what is diffrent, but the new girl is intreduced from the intro, and i think there are a bunch of stuff that is diffrent, and from what i read there are changes that are for the better overall.

Here's a thought. What if during the time Joker was in jail, we played as the new girl.

In Golden we were given two new social links, one of which betrayed us... And this new guy looks like Aizen... Atluuuuus...What're you planning?

YES!! I was hoping so much you'd react to this, and you did!! I'm already so hopeful for p5R, and you made it so much better. On her costume btw, supposedly it isn't supposed to be risque, its a gymnist leotard, since she a dancer it fits with that. I've already seen so many fights over her costume.

I would totally be ok with another playthrough of this - there are absolutely new scenes throughout the main story and the dungeons/bosses are slightly redone (never played the original, just Royal so I'm going on what I saw in your playthrough). But if you just wanted to enjoy the new game on your own and only do the "new chapter" that's cool too - the new chapter is really good! Oh and there are some new 'secret bosses' aswell

Ok, things added: -New place in map. -Hook mechanic and a possible expansion on all places. -More scene, events/hung out, combat moves and expositions to characters. -You being as a 2 year, so the game give you more time, 3 year added!!!! (epilogue?/post game?) -New confidant, Aizen is the school counselor. -New party member/confidant?: We know that transfer at the same time as joker but as a 1 year, is into gymnastic and dancing, her outfit is also influenced by joker, Makoto and Ann?. During the jet not translated part, Makoto is mention a lot, this with the mention of conflict, make me believe that during the 3 year the phantom thief aren't needed so when looks like the gang try to regroup, there wold be conflict between members, especially Makoto and the new girl that doesn't believe they are really helping. Ideas, info and theory are well recibe. Thank you.

People were saying before that there'd be an epilogue along the lines of the one for Persona 3. You know what this means? Persona 5: The Road Trip!!! Morgana: "Guys! We need to stop! It's the world's biggest ball of yarn!" Everybody gives Morgana an aside glance Morgana: "For... For novelty's sake, of course. I mean, how many people can say that they went to see that?!" Ryuji: "Who would want to be able to say it?"

From the looks of it, they're restructuring the entire game. That thing on the Kamoshida statue wasn't there, the whole grapple mechanic will change a lot more too along with the new character. There is also a screenshot where it shows the group at the Shrine location on the date 1/1, a point in the original game where Joker was testifying for Sae against Shido. Also it has been confirmed there will be new Personas, more locations and confidants. In my opinion this game will have everything P5 did and then some. Meaning it will likely be another 50 hours in length on top. Also I don't know if you have since seen it, but the game has been confirmed as Halloween 2019 in Japan but not until an undisclosed date in 2020 before it receives an international English release. My prediction is April/May 2020, so this time next year. Also there will be more information coming on the game on 5 May this year.

Because I've been watching Nico's Steins;Gate 0 playthrough, there was a point during this trailer where I was thinking "What the hell what's Okabe doing here?" I had to remind myself that Okabe and Ryuji have the same Japanese voice actor.

The only thing better than watching this trailer and knowing its coming out this October is watching Nico watch it and fangirl (almost) as much as me XD

I'm actually quite pumped for The Royal! I find it very interesting that they decided to release the game on Halloween, which is pretty fitting considering that all the main characters wear masks! haha Unfortunately, however, I found out that the game will not hit Western shelves till next year... Still, though, I'm hyped, and very intrigued to see all the new content Atlus added into this new version of Persona 5, including the new girl, which I've found out that her name is Kasumi Yoshizawa. And yeah, she's very cute!
