Last time I watched you was like 2 years ago when i still had my sick scooter. I am thinking of getting a scooter for Christmas, I have £200. Any suggestions?
Out of interest have you been subbed for those two years or did the trailer just randomly pop up in your recommended? £200 eh? You can get a pretty nice scooter if you budget your parts carefully. I would highly recommend building your own custom as a opposed to buying a complete. Then you can make sure all the parts you're getting are right for you. Scootering is all personal preference so I wouldn't want to advise you to buy too many specific parts because what works for me might not work for you. I'd say visit a scooter shop (if you can) instead of buying it straight away online. Just so you can feel the weight of decks and bars etc. Don't let the prices fool you, it's pretty much all the same quality so just go for what feels comfortable and fits your budget. When making a custom the temptation is to buy the lightest of everything but I'd recommend having at least a little weight in your wheels, forks and bars as this can help your bar spins and whips. Also consider getting a break that isn't a flex fender if you'd like to play around with mannuals and break tricks. If you do find a scooter shop be sure to ask them about which would be the best compression to run for your build as well. Anyhoo I could bang on about this all day but to talk specifics I'd recommend the following: Grips: - Lizard Skin chargers (Super comfortable but only last a 4-6 months of daily usage) - Ethic DTC (Not the most comfortable but lasted me about 9 months, only took them off to swap for Lizard Skins) Wheels: - Proto Sliders (Street) - Proto Grippers (Park) - ONLY ride these park though, I destroyed mine in a week on the streets. Griptape: - I'd go Mint Tips #4 boiyeeeee: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7V5Gn08nNd4.html The most important parts to get right though are the deck and bars. These will be the most expensive parts so choose wisely. If you are unsure about bar height go for a taller set and then you can have them cut down if necessary. The main thing to get right is the width. Taking into account the length of your deck make sure your bars aren't so wide that they will force you to lean backwards when doing a barspin. For the deck, personally I like mine thin with a bit of weight but that really is personal preference. The only thing I could really say is don't pay extra for a concave because they're pointless on a scooter imo.
