Have the same vehicle and 56106 connector. Does it have to be connected directly to the battery? Can I use the 12v dedicated power plug just above the jack access panel that is juiced (hot whenever ignition is turned on accessory or to start). Battery draw is a real problem on this vehicle and I would like to keep current flow restricted as battery goes dead if sits for 2-3 wks without being driven. Dealer and Toyota says that is normal and to be expected. Right!! txs

So, it appears that the yellow-green 4-way trailer wire just sit in the back of the van when not in use. If you installed the module on the otherside inside the JACK access panel you could hide the trailer wire when not in use...Is this accurate or does the module have to be taped on the driver's side?

***** The 56106 was designed to be installed as defined by the instruction sheet, which the video follows. Four-flat connectors that are routed to the rear-center of the vehicle can be bundled and some guys even tuck the bundle into an old sock or bag for protection, others use homemade holsters too. Remember to use your included connector cap for added protection.

Product is great, easy to install, and video is very informative. . . the only caveat I have is the installation of the power wire. . . what a serious pain in the cunning linguals!!! If you don't have a way to raise the vehicle safely its a serious struggle! If it weren't for that, I could have had this done in my driveway in less than 15 minutes. . . 2 hrs later. . . good grief.

why are professionals not soldering wires?

This specific product and all of our electrical products do not require soldering. We engineered this product to be installed the way it is shown in the video, and designed it to be installed successfully by any and all customers.
