You might be the scary one on the highway with this strap setup. Nice trailer though.

Yes and no, maybe you haven't been to Florida lately🤣🤣. Had to review the video since it's older, I can say I actually have four aftermarket installed contact points for much safer towing now. Two in the rear, one strap each, metal to metal (hook to hook), with no strap sitting on metal and same deal up front, hook to hook on both sides. Unfortunately John Deere installs basically no tie downs on the tractor at all, at least at this level (SCUT). But saying I'm the scary one in Florida is a stretch, I mean I at least had it tied down and actually have a trailer without a broken axle and the lights work. For real, trailer towing is seriously wild wild west here. Thanks for watching, I did this video later after I got those tie downs, I think you'll be less scared now. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9JeAJ2foj8Q.html&t=

I use my sons car hauler on my f150 to haul my 1023e . Go on line and pick up g7 or g6 chain and binders. Best 100 dollars of insurance you can buy. It covers the 3x rating and you will never cut one. Michigan requires you throw a strap over attached implamints . I remember seeing a accident where a person pulled in front of a farmer and hit there breaks to pull into a store. At 45 miles an hour the straps broke and the tractor landed half in the bed of his truck. I like how the motivation of your videos are intended to help others.

Nice video and a good looking setup Driving with my tractor on the trailer always makes me nervous

I may be wrong but it looks like you need to move the tractor a little bit more towards front of trailer if it ever gets away from you it's a very scary thing I had this happen the first time I loaded my bobcat everything was going fine at 45 Mi an hour but I decided to speed up a little when I hit 50 .53 Mi an hour I totally lost control and there was nothing I could do except let it slow down on its own

I think it was good then, but I have upgraded to a WeighSafe trailer hitch receiver, so now I can monitor the weight distribution and get it perfectly right. I agree overall though, generally a little front heavy is better than rear heavy. Neither are good, but the front heavy is a little more forgiving. Thanks for watching.

Nice trailer! I had an f150 and actually just traded it in on a 2020 silverado, i was having issues with the ecoboost. Cheers

It is surprising nice for a used trailer in Florida, I'm telling you, not sure about other places, but used trailers are usually beat to hell down here for some reason, I think most people just think they are maintenance-free, had I not found a nice used one like this one, I would have opted for one just like yours. I'm guessing yours was 20', maybe 22'?

You missed showing one the more important items. That being how you attached your straps to the tractor. Caught just a glimpse that you are using only one strap in the front and rear. I agree with lonewolfpa about using four separate straps. BTW, Mudds Customs sells some nice tie down brackets for the JD Series 1 tractors. Otherwise some great points on hauling.

ha, between here and the facebook page, that seemed to be the thing people hyperfocused on.sooo I purchased the Mudds Custom mounts today. Was on the fence for some time, but was pushed over the fence. State law in FL doesn't require four straps, in fact it's not specific as to how many, just says secure with either nylon strap or chain. Four isn't a bad idea though. There were some other interesting things in the law too, like a max speed of 65 mph while towing anything. Another state law clearly not followed or enforced.

You need to look into state laws, a lot of states require 4 straps for things like a tractor. If you cut or break a strap you have nothing but gravity holding it on the trailer. I personally have cut or broke a strap once and thankfully I had 2 straps on the front and the back and nothing moved.

That's a good idea for specifics, sadly there are many that don't have any straps, many landscapers and their trailers, not making it okay to go with one per end if the law requires two, but clearly in FL, many of these things are not enforced. I briefly looked up some law and found that maximum speed is 65 mph in FL with any trailer. I may have to do another video once I dive deeper into the specifics laws. For FL, not every state.

I pull mine with my Prius. It’s kind of a lot on the brakes but you do t need much more in my opinion.

That looks sketchy as hell the way you got those straps. With them that way I'm pretty sure your WLL is a solid zero.

Well, I don't know about sketchy as hell, but I did order and install new hooks for side and rear of the tractor and will do an update video shortly on the proper way to strap down the load. I think you'll find the new method acceptable. It's done, just have to get to making a video.

your strap will cut eventually the way you use it to attach the tractor rear end, just saying

Yep, agreed Marc, which was the purpose behind this update video, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9JeAJ2foj8Q.html, also thanks for watching.

straps should never touch steel directly, even rounded steel can cut straps on a hard pull. steel on steel how i chain mine down is run a chain around the back to the trailer in a V, then drive ahead to tighten the chain. set parking brake and use 2, 2inch straps hooked to the machine to the trailer. you can stop way faster than you can take off. so you want your most trusted securement on the back encase of accident.

What? Straps cant touch steel? Never seen that in the transport regulations.
