Holy moly, we went offroading with TrailRecon! And let me tell you, Brad knows how to party. And the rest of the crew are just as amazing. Please please don’t even get me started on Marco’s cooking. That man is a chef magician.
Basically, what I’m saying is that Kevin and I may have learned a thing or two on this trip.
If you aren’t already subscribed to TrailRecon, you can check out TrailRecon's Channel here -

Pack recommendations: First aid kit, warm clothes (sweat pants/shirts), hat & gloves, clean socks and undies, beef jerky (or some other high protein snack), water, batteries, small GPS, walkie talkies, 550 cord, electrical and duct tape, swiss army knife, small tool bag (screwdrivers, pliers, etc), space blanket, rain poncho. Good luck
@alfredofuentes9408

Rick Wolf only think I would add to this is some zip ties, a blanket, and to make sure the first aid kit has a tourniquet. We came across a side by side that had rolled in a trail just before sunset as temps were dropping fast. Between the blanket keeping him from going into shock and the tourniquet stopping the bleeding. We were able to save him till the medevac arrived. Great list Rick!

Can't believe you guys wheeled with Brad and the gang from TrailRecon... Awesome! Way cool! I love Brad's videos. The way he weaves the story and the videography... My god! I'm so jealous that you had this chance. I know it's not what you're used to but overlanding I think is the way to go. The best of both worlds. I know, you're both young and a bit crazy but hey, as you found out the boys of TrailRecon know how to party! Thanks for sharing.

Aside from obvious ingredients for your bug out bag, A few of my favorites are: Chef's torch - butane for fire @ 2000 degrees, Seals survival kit, Hand chainsaw, good dagger knives, Rappelling rope: never know when you might need it for human recovery, extra carabiners of various sizes, Rain suits or ponchos then MRE's and the obvious stuff! Happy Jeeping!

I watch both of your guys channels religiously, I would say that if you were to have your EDC carry bags in your your vehicle you should always have a full first aid kit, I use a lot of Maxpadition pouches to organize the stuff I want with me. The second thing is a fire kit with different ways to start a fire. The Sensible Prepper channel is who I follow for my EDC carry stuff. It is an amazing outlet for information to help anyone survive in even the worst times. Be safe out there and have fun! I have many items in my EDC bag in my Jeep that just deal with the cold here in Minnesota, but also could be used in California, Colorado or anywhere.

2 of my favorite channels hitting the trails together was fantastic. As for those bags. In my jeeps go bag the very 1st thing I put in it was a really good 1st aide kit...it's more a trauma kit than a normal 1st aide kit. Then I added 2 solar blankets.

Glad to see Brad Wheeling with you guys! Maybe one day I'll take my Ram and wheel with you guys! As for the bags coming from a Marine here are the basic categories (assuming you want a bug out bag): Trauma (First Aid), Food, Tools, Water (including purification), ways to carry that water, cooking (stove), and Survival (emergency blankets, way to signal for help, etc). To more categories I included in mine are Signaling and Lighting/Charging. A simple rule to remember is two is one and one is none. So an example is carry to knives because if one breaks you still have one. These are broad categories because you really have to tailor them to you. Seeing you have a dog you bed more water and food for her as well.

So great seeing two of my favorite RU-vid channels crossing over! I just watched TrailRecon's video and then got to this one. 72 hour pack: first aid kit and trauma kit - they are different things, I would have both. Multiple fire starting devices: matches, lighter, fire steel. Emergency survival food. Life Straw water bottles - I think these are more practical than a stand alone Life Straw. Cold weather gear: gloves, beanie, extra pairs of pants, hoodie, etc. Compass. Flashlights & batteries.

what to put in the 72h bag! Life straw (water filtration) compass, map, knife, small axe, flintstone and/or water proof matches, flash lights and spare batteries, power brick for cell phone, Handheld gps, 1 warm jacket but not hoodie type, get the performance stuff its much thinner and lighter, 1 or 2 pairs of socks (nothing worst than having wet cold feet, they blister way faster too) roll of paracord, mirror, protein bars, dehydrated food pouch (military style or not) optional as you can survive at least a week without eating, Water (double it for desert situations), whistle, a good first aid kit (not the ones you buy but build one up with trauma grade pads and stitching kit) if you dont know how to do stitches, you will learn! LOL may have forgotten a few things but that looks like it. your new partner should know what is missing as he has been through extensive training! cheers guys!

Water, MRE, FA Kit, parka, wubee, solar blanket, dry socks, lighters/WP matches/fire starter, a few gallon zip lock bags, comm. radio with extra batteries, compass + map, something to cut with, something to chop with, utility knife, 100ft 550 cord, 100ft fishing line, toilet paper/baby wipes, a Life Straw and a few "nips" of whatever strong liquor you prefer. You should be set to handle almost anything that comes your way with these things. And be able to achieve a reasonable amount of comfort if your forced to use in a bad situation. I love your channel and hope to wheel with you guys sometime here in CO.

I totally agree with not getting a roof top tent. I used to think I wanted one; but, last year at TDS, I was glad I didn't have one; because, of the high winds. My $30 tent worked great and I moved it behind my Jeep to escape the wind. I was surprised when I found out TrailRecon & I did simultaneous, polar opposite Mojave runs, a few weeks ago. Ours was light and fast. There's was slower and heavy. We had fun. They had fun. Just different approaches. Way different.

You need these things in whatever form they may take for you: 1: Shelter or the basic things to make shelter 2: Water or a way to collect and purify water 3: Food (there are many long term storage food items available out there) With these basic things you will be able to survive for quite a while. Beyond this a medical kit would be useful as well. Some other items to consider: 1: A way to make fire 2: Flashlight and batteries 3: A good sturdy knife for cutting small wood 4: Large knife 5: Foldable saw 6: Depending on the weather, clothing for the conditions you are in 7: Communication equipment for making phone calls 8: Signal mirror 9: A good map of the area you are traveling through That is my list and what I would put in a bag like that.

Good fixed blade knife, multitool, small roll duck tape, small first aid kit, Flashlight with rechargeable batteries, charger, 50 watt foldable solar panel, burner phone, some millenium bars, dehydrated food for 3 days, Survival paracord, woobie, radio, sunscreen and bugspray. compressible sleeping bag. .22 pistol and 300rds of ammo.

Fire, and water filtration are two of the most useful things in a 72 hour bag. The little striker fire starters are great, but I highly recommend a couple of bic lighters. They take up no space, are light, and with two of them you have no worries of shortage of fire, or if something happens to one.

Great to see you-tubers get together having fun! We came to Overland from Backpacking so we have a good collection of small and light gear we've supplemented with table , chairs and a two burner stove. An Otter cooler keeps food cold for as long as a week and we bungy-cord everything down in our jeep. For traveling we use a 3-man dome tent that sets up about as fast as Trail Recon's roof tent but only weighs 5#!

Great vid. For the pack, I would recommend a great first aid kit, a good fixed-blade knife, a folding knife / multi-tool, a couple of flashlights (always got to have a back-up - 1 is none and 2 is one), fire starting kit, water filter, de-hydrated food, and something for self defense (gun, pepper spray, and such). I also like carrying a bit of extra clothes - socks, base layer, that kind of stuff.

I take things in my jeep already (tool bag, first aid kit, shovel, gloves, water) But for a pack to carry I'd want a tourniquet, quick clot packets, glow sticks, knives, compass, mirror/flashlights, water tablets/filters, emergency blankets, fire starting kits. Some type of containers for food or water, some type of dry food, solar battery charger. Air horn and bear spray. Some of these are still on my wish list!

for packs - water filters, dry food, medical basics - like bandages, ibuprofen, snacks and fruit, water, some lightweight clothes like jacket or blanket, knife, matches, I like small ax with hammer side and always a gun for varmints or critters that are unwanted.

Love the skottle. I purchased after seeing Marco cook. Love his cooking. Love both channels. Lite Brite and trail recon... How can you go wrong.

Great footage!! Looks like a lot of fun! Trailrecon introduced me to your channel and it is great! I can wait to see what’s up next!

you could add weights to the frame, increase horsepower, a little wider on tires and axles to offset the higher COG. I believe in ya'll. Put a few flasks of whiskey in the 72 hour bags. Great Video!!!

What to put on the bag....Emergency heat blanket, a foldable army shovel with a saw on it just incase you have to put out a fire or something, and a poncho incase you have to trail fix in the rain. don't want to be wet the rest of the day. Also did you see my comment on the air install video that I would gladly take the portable air compressor off your hands if you are willing to give it away. SAFE TRAVELS!
