This is kinda like Kefka's dungeon where you gotta divide the party into groups. The difference is, once you get to the final boss, you can then organize the party however you want so you can put your best team toward the final boss. A game that came out 15 years before this one was more ahead and fairer than this BS.
Richard's crafts reduce the number of turns until he can act again I believe, in contrast to the other characters where it would increase it. If you stack that with all the speed buffs you can get and the equipment that recharges CP he's a very busted unit.
