Was riding with a fellow from Scotland who had tubes. He got a flat of course. And his spare tube couldn't hold any air either. I always carry electrical tape in my backpack and wondered if that would work to seal the holes in the tube. Sure enough, it worked and got him back to the parking lot, which was a few kilometres away from where he got the flat. We wrapped the tape around the tube where the holes were, but not too tightly as it would need to stretch with the tube when it was inflated again. I was actually really surprised that it worked.
A beginners version of this needs better visuals of what you're actually doing - at one point the camera is really just showing us your back! Really great information in general, but like I said maybe for a beginner type like me it needs a clearer visual order including showing tools at the beginning rather than the end. Thanks anyway, hope I never need too many emergency fixes.
That's a waste of a gear cable, you need that in case your gear cable brakes, most multi-tools have a chain tool, and master links are your weak link so don't use them.
Never in my life have I broken a gear cable. I'd rather ride home single speed instead of zero speed. Did you notice his bike doesn't use a gear cable?
@@janeblogs324 broke a gear cable the other day for the first time ever, they're making everything cheaper and cheaper. A chain though takes 5 minutes to fix with just a multi-tool. And that's on side of the trail covered in mud.
I put 100s n 1000s in my tubless sealant mix , it seals easier on inflation and seems to weep less , and seals bigger holes faster , but doesn't block the valve , dunno why just does .. Less gay than putting glitter in it .🙂
So,you forgot one more thing, youre 15 miles from anywhere,no phone signal, your tyre has a sidewall slash from a rock 6 inches long,a tyre boot wont stick if you have sealant in your tyre, you put your spare tube in but that will come out of the hole,so you are stuffed! Remedy, peatys tyre plugger and fishing line, sew up the split before you put tube in,job done! It works, ive done it myself on skyline 15 miles in at afan forest, saved my bacon till i got back to the shop at glyncorrwg to have a new tyre fitted!
I know many riders will carry a spare tube despite running tubeless, but what if you are running a mullet set-up - does that mean carrying 2 tubes. No need, you can always stuff a tube that is too large into a tyre if you are careful to spread the extra rubber out around the rim before you seat the tyre. Just carry a 29".
