ICYMI: An Amtrak train collided with a semi-truck hauler on Friday evening in Oklahoma, sending entire cars flying through the air. Luckily, there were no major injuries. Five people were reportedly treated for minor ones but were subsequently released.

He had a 53' high mount cottrell auto carrier trailer. They sit about 6" off the ground at their highest point and "4 at the lowest. Because of the gradient at rail crossings the trailer can get high centered. He was stuck. Infrastructure needs to accommodate dot approved equipment, plain and simple. In this case though the driver would be fault for maneuvering himself into this problem. And also failing to notify the rail company or state troopers.... This is a common auto carrier mishap and is always a hot topic.

Or the driver needs to avoid railroad altogether, just like how trucks avoid some low clearance bridges. Not that it matters now the person probably got fired plus got fined heavily for the car losses.

The front train also went slightly airborn for a moment as well once it hit the vehicle(s), lucky that wasn't a derailment!

I don't know about that. It seems the other vehicle goes airborne directly beside the train making it look like it lifted.

Look at the elevation of the roadway..... The trailer is high centered.

This is why the US needs to fix their stupid infrastructure.... who ever was in charge on making these rail crossings were brain dead... any REAL engineer would think to consider what traffic would be using the crossings... and you see trucks getting stuck in a great many vids on you tube....

Clearly they didn’t opt to do that. They got stuck because of the climb of the crossing and bottom of the truck getting stuck. They could’ve been there well before the lights started going.

You guys should talk about Katie Couric editing the RGB Interview she did with her in 2016. She wasn't happy about people kneeling for the national anthem. I don’t think this was the truck drivers fault. It’s very likely that it broke down while crossing the tracks when the train wasn’t approaching. It can happen

Yeah try going around a curve pulling 10,000 tons and tell me about "stopping should be easy". No matter the length of train, speed will always be a factor.
