its really just a safety device so the driver doesnt exceed the limit. he can put as much power on as they want when leaving a station :)

Sorry for all the questions so does the driver put the power handle on full when leaving the station or are different selections and then use the dial to get up speed on the lines. Still not managed to get a visit inside a dvt :-(

yes there is a little nob that can be turned either clock wise or anti clock wise this limits the speed of the train. once you get upto this speed the power will automaticly shut off.

what location is 3:30 looks amazing to get tones, were they all for you or was there a whistle board nearby

Interested to know how the dvt is operated. I know there is a power and a break handle, but is there speed select dial. I only ask as having watched a dvt cab ride from Leeds to London in the BR day's the driver was turning a dial on what looks the speedometer.
