Train Journey | Kasaragod to Nashik Road by 12617 Mangala Lakshadweep Express (Malayalam) 

The alignment of KR would have been a lot straighter, if only for political influence. It was Madhu Dandavate who forced the alignment via Rajapur road. Else, things would have been different. Reached PNVL today by CBE-HSR, it has a loco change at MAJN, WDP-4D of BGKT takes over. It was a WAP 7 from EDLS till MAJN.

Yes Bombay was once DC. Howlers WCG ruled the both ghats. Still I remember those days. Great commentary as memories come back(AC and DC) WR was acfied first and I think on 2008.

You could have got down at Manmad and taken a bus to Shirdi. All buses going towards Pune go through Shirdi. There are buses of MSRTC, GSRTC AND MPRTC buses

Reason why KR stations are so badly maintained in that KRCL being a separate corporation, it's primary motive is to make profits. Hence it concentrates on running more freight trains. Passenger operations are mot important for them. Moreover, KRCL is more into construction these days executing many railway projects. Hence demands to merge KR within IR has increased. Hope it materializes soon.

Nice. Please give a clip of bus journey from nashik road to shirdi. Followed by clip on shirdi. Is there a line from panvel to pune? Is it the route taken by ernakulam pune sf express? How did you get into the rathnagiri line after madgaun? After londa? Or from madgaun itself? I am just trying to understand the region, for my proposed site. Thanks for the map but too crowded. Pl add the info in desc ssction. I hope that there is a blog post on this as well.

Thanks a lot for the info about the end of the rake telemetry. I was confused about how goods rakes without caboose are working these days. IR has been on a roll since the past few years. Loco's, coaches, signalling are all being modernised at the speed of sound.
