Alas it's here, the latest North American route and add-on from Dovetail Games for TSW2: the Clinchfield Railroad.
From Elkhorn City, Kentucky to Dante, Virginia - the in-game route climbs and descends roughly 40 mi of numerous grades and slithers through the mountains, hollows and tunnels of Appalachia. The route is dotted with coal tipples, processing facilities and almost half a dozen branch lines to boot. Join in as I take a brief look at what the CRR has to offer
Rolling stock included is...
F7 A&B unit
SD40
100t and 70t coal gondola
Box and Reefer cars
CRR caboose
----------
The Clinchfield was the last Class I railroad built in the U.S. east of the Rocky Mountains. The 266-mile railroad provided access to numerous scenic wonders of the Appalachian region and is probably best known for the state-of-the-art railroad engineering techniques applied in its construction, as exemplified by the Clinchfield Loops climbing the Blue Ridge Mountains north of Marion, North Carolina.
The Clinchfield Railroad began operating the line December 1, 1924, and for many years it was leased jointly by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and Louisville and Nashville Railroad. When the L&N merged with the ACL's successor, the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, effective January 1, 1983, forming the Seaboard System Railroad, the separate operating company was unnecessary and was merged into the Seaboard. The line is now owned and operated by CSX Transportation as their Blue Ridge Subdivision (Spartanburg to Erwin, Tennessee) and Kingsport Subdivision (Erwin to Elkhorn City).

So I work with the real Clinchfield 800 everyday and I have to say that they got the cabs great on these. I’m glad to see that they put the original EMD Factory control stands in these and not the modern AAR ones like most F units and your modern freight Geeps have like in Sand Patch. We have kept the original control stand in 800 like seen here to preserve historical value even though they are now few and far between due to modernization. In fact the control stand and 24 brakes are so obscure in the modern railroad world that we have to tape a control sheet in the cab just to explain how to cut the air in and out when we have had to ship it out via Norfolk Southern and CSX. I’ve watched your videos for awhile now and you do great work, keep it up!

Must be great working with living history like that. The 800 used to be down here near my home over in Leesburg as an excursion train, sadly never got to see it tho. Shes a beautiful engine

While the outside is pretty well detailed, DTG really did get lazy on quite a little bit concerning the F7. The rear of the cab didn't have any of that stuff set in to the electrical cabinet doors as built. (Can't say what CRR 800's cab looks like today, but probably not all that different.) Engine start switch is towards the front of the prime mover (Generator is considered the rear) with the layshaft and governor, and the isolation switch (Stop/Start - Run) was located at this location as well if I remember the EMD manual correctly. The E8 was the same way, except for there obviously being 12-567 prime movers, so there would be two of these stations. Stuff could have easily been known if they had just bothered to look lol As for the SD40? I can't say for sure if it's wrong or right, but it could be right; A company I used to work for had a locomotive that was built as an SDP35 that had the Prime/Start switch on the control panel in the cab, but that may have been something SCL/SBD did when rebuilding them in to the "H15". Otherwise it would be similar to the SD40-2 from Sand Patch Grade.

@@schnauzahpowahz Idfk. But I will say that Jointed Rail did so fking good with the SD40-2 that I purchased for Train Simulator 20XX not long ago. It seems like only the purchased items from other sellers is the way to go. Idk if Train Sim World will ever have this. but that loco is so good. AMazing horn, bell, class lights, mechanics. All around my favorite loco so far out of any train simulator.

The horn on the sd40-2 is the same thing for the CSX. Dovetail is really lazy making new and more realistic horns. Atleast make it like a santa fe. American trains( Just the frieght trains.) horns are soo bad and overused.

I really like the Clinchfield map, but I'm disappointed that some services are missing, and the branch lines are highly under utilized in service mode. It really kills the variety of operations on the Clinchfield. Hoping for patches that unfortunately probably will never see the light of day on console. Also an add on would be nice.
