whats kinda bugging me with Machine Rail right now compared to other devs is that their modelling is as great as ever, as is the texturing, but aside from that, there's not much more to really get into. simulation is very basic even though they say it's "advanced steam scripting", and the way the boiler works alongside water consumption, etc. is not realistic at all (not to mention the fact this is an oil burning locomotive and not a coal burner, which both operate widly different). i always have to adjust machine rail stuff to my liking as best as possible, I have already swapped most of the particle emitters, edited the sounds and adjusted safety valve, boiler and general power & tractive effort simulation. hopefully machine rail could contact someone like gwion davis from simnation and work together with them, kinda like caledonia works, to include stuff like steam chest simulation and dynamic particles. i feel like that would really kick them up one more notch to be in the same league as cw.

Overall, its alright. The modeling is great, as is pretty typical of Machine Rail, but I am a bit disappointed in the sounds. They kinda dropped the ball in that regard. Their steam simulation has never been that advanced so I'm not really surprised, but it is a bit of a killer when compared to stuff coming from most of other steam locomotive developers. I do feel the firing and watering is not quite right though, it seems to take forever to build a fire and the water consumption is wild. I'm impressed the safety valves weren't already screaming at you in the beginning. They released the same day as The Forge released the BR01, and I honestly thought the BR01 was a better pack overall.

The three boiler water level valves are called “try cocks” called so because you “try” the boiler water level. When opened, the engineer should listen to make sure water is pouring through the pipes, trying each valve separately is crucial when view of the sight glass is obstructed or if there isn’t one.

I do have a route planned where these can be run both in freight and passenger variants. I plan to make the BNSF Cuba subdivision, which was the former Frisco main line between St Louis and Springfield. This would be the heart of the Ozarks as well and was originally split up into two subdivisions by The Frisco, the section I'm modeling will be the roller section of the subdivision between St Louis and Newburgh. However I do plan to later make the entire division between St Louis and Springfield. I've also mentioned before on various places that I do plan to redo the sounds myself as I was the one that commissioned the locomotive 2 years ago.

i wish 1522 will be steamed again.

Hey Schnauz! Nice look at the new loco. What settings/graphics are you using to get such a smooth frame rate? I have a nice graphics card and RWE, but still can’t get it looking as good as this.

It was NOT boiler issues. It Was mainly the rise in insurance costs that lead to 1522 being retired. I doubt she will run again the current management at the museum is not good. And that connection track is now union pacific I believe. But hey. Never say never

Awesome, was waiting for your video on this even though I already picked it up haha. I have to agree with everyone else on here, the pack is definitely nice, good value being that you get two loco variants and passenger/freight rolling stock. The modeling is top notch quality and what we expect with MR. However, the lack of interior on the cars is kinda disappointing, especially since at night there are no lights on in the windows (Unless this is a bug) and the cars are just pitch black at night. This would be understandable if they spent their time focusing on more mechanical simulation aspects but that doesn't seem to be the case. Usually I'm okay with this since as much as I love steam locos, they can be hard to operate and I appreciate being able to hop in the loco and just drive without much worry. At the same time tho, some new simluation aspects would be very welcome on MR products to bring them up to the same standard as Smokebox and maybe Forge with steam chest simulation etc.

Playing tsw4 right now new to train sim have tsw as well sounds suck on both kills the immersion i like doing american freight is train sim classic worth a buy also thinking of sim rail but only interested in north american content when it finally gets released

Hello, Schnauzahpowahz, i need help with Train Simulator Classic. My game runs like shit, i run 20 fps on most routes, on a RTX 3060 32gb Ram, Intel I7, i cant fix it maybe you could help, i run on max settings too.

The chemtrails ruin the nostalgia feel for me. Come to think of it though, with all the precision detail they put into these graphics, why go through all the trouble of putting chemtrails in the picture which were never in our skies till roughly 1999 or so, unless you are being encouraged by some higher power at youtube's "narrative think tankers" to intentionally paint them into the sky on purpose to make the younger generation think that chemtrails have always been in our skies, even during rail's early steam age, hmmm? Are these guys getting a little moolah for putting icing on the narrative cake somehow? But why else put chemtrails in their highly detailed simulator sky like they did?
