a really good Bigos, it should be prepared for you by a housewife, preferably at the age of over 50, of course, a Pole, a man who likes cooking, can also be. This is a "male dish" because in the old days (e.g. the Middle Ages) bigos was used as a canned food. Could be It was reheated several times and was suitable for travel and war expeditions. Sauerkraut in bigos served as a natural preservative.

You shouldn’t buy beer in regular stores as you will only find cheap line beers there. Poland has one of the best craft beers in the world. There are a lot of dedicaded shops in WSW and KRK with craft beer. Try Artezan or Inne Beczki when it comes to breweries.

You can try other Żywiec beers(IPA, APA, White), also Książece- they have different kinds as well, Maybe Miłosław also. Those you can get those in Żabka. There are many craft breweries, they're usually a bit pricy like Jurajskie, Inne Beczki etc. depending where you are. Also, I highly recommend going to multitap bars (they're everywhere) and let the staff there help you choose.

If you have time, come to Warsaw in spring (in May or the beginning of June) and visit the Łazienki Park, Wilanów Palace, Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, Warsaw University Library with a garden on the roof, the Vistula Boulvard, the park of fountains, take a bike ride along both river's banks and so much more... like museums (if you like classical music, you can find many places that honour Fryderyk Chopin), art galleries and smaller parks... (Krasinki Park, Saski Park); there's still much to discover :). Btw, my favourite view of the Old Town you can see from the tower of St Anne's Church. It isn' t very high but gives a nice perspective of the suroundings. It's so nice to see your enthusiasm visiting my country 😊!

I'm not good at history but Gdańsk, which was a free city-state populated by mostly Poles and Germans (Danzig in German) was one of the biggest port cities of the Baltic Sea. I think only Aarhus and Copenhagen in Denmark were bigger. Malmö in Sweden was close. Amsterdam was much bigger but that is the North Sea.

Do you think we could ski there??? Plan to arrive around early December??
@piotrcieplucha4405
@piotrcieplucha4405 2 года назад
@@GoTimeTravels Zakopane is a very popular weekend destination amongst people from the region (Kraków, Katowice) especially at this time of the year, so if you'd want to avoid the huge queues at the ski lifts you'd probably have to go outside of Zakopane and still the waiting times would be quite long. The slopes themselves aren't quite long as well so not sure if it's worth it, although must confess haven't been there in ages so my take on this could be a lil bit outdated. The scenery is amazing though, especially with the snow covered peaks but it is a bit of a tourist trap. The other thing is snow or therefore the lack of it. Normally you'd have plenty of snow by now, everywhere - Warsaw included, but with climate change now no one knows.
@GoTimeTravels
@GoTimeTravels 2 года назад
@@piotrcieplucha4405 when you say outside Zakapane, is there a town close by that would be better to stay? we were also thinking of renting a car, would you need a car if your staying in zakapane?
@piotrcieplucha4405
@piotrcieplucha4405 2 года назад
@@GoTimeTravels Ok, talked to a couple of friends and here is what we came up with. The best option for you would be to stay in Zakopane, it has the best accommodation facilities and restaurants in the area plus the people there surely speak some english as most of the other places are basically little villages with hardly any tourist infrastructure. From Zakopane you could take your rented car to places like Białka Tatrzańska (20 km from Zakopane) for skiing as the queues there wouldn't be that long plus the slopes there are much better suited for semi-advanced skiers, forgive me for making these assumptions about you skiing abilities but Zakopane has rather steep slopes and I surely wouldn't advise it for begginers. If you'd just want to stay in Zakopane you don't really need a car as you can get everywhere by foot or public transport. There is also a lot of nice hiking routes as well but you have to be properly prepared (Hiking boots, hiking gear, Winter clothing and so on) as the weather can change very quickly and from a nice sunny day you suddenly get a snow storm and the temperature drops to -10, just giving you a friendly heads up beacuse a lot of people seem to overestimate their own abilities and end up getting rescued by helicopter. It seems to happen quite often to foreign tourists :). Hope I didn't scare you too much and this info helps a little :) Have fun!
@GoTimeTravels
@GoTimeTravels 2 года назад
@@piotrcieplucha4405 that is excellent information thanks so much. you have cleared up alot of our questions about Zakapane, we have skiied before but far from advanced so maybe the rental car could be the option to check out other slopes. again, thanks so much for getting back to us with all this info. ❤️🙏

All mass marked light lagers taste very similar, but if you like beer, you should know that already. Go for craft beer if you're in a chase for taste. Or choose wiser from mass market ones - maybe you'll find Łomża Pils (only this one, not the "Jasne" or any other), Perła Chmielowa (again this is much better than Perła Export) or if you cannot find those, try Tatra which is decent. But you should really look for regional breweries like Kormoran or Miłosław/Fortuna/Komes (same brewery, different lines of products). And there is one gem you should not miss in Poland - try the baltic porter beer from any brewery you can find - you can't go wrong with this one in Poland.

15:43 If you like bigos from a store shelf, then this "homemade bigos", which we eat mainly for various occasions, will be rated 20/10. Take my word for it, you haven't discovered the true taste of this dish yet 😉 PS: It's good to see that visiting our country gives you so much joy, my favorite city is Toruń and I especially recommend you should eat Pierniki Toruńskie;)

My last comment was about places, so maybe now's the time for some tips and recommendations while you're still in Warsaw (well, greetings from Warsaw! ; ] ). In most of grocery stores or in every alcohol store, you'll find a beer called "Królewskie" (red-white-red label on the bottle, or red can). As that's rather a local beer and I'm not sure, if you'll be able to get one when you leave Warsaw, I highly recommend you to try it, especially bottled one (canned Królewskie isn't the worst beer I've ever had, but I've an impression, that bottled one is much better). Also try some "Żubr" - green label/can with a Bison pic. on it. But my def. favorite Polish beers are Książęce (there are plenty of different kinds of them), ESPECIALLY Książęce Czerwony Lager (Red Lager) and IPA. BTW there's even Książęce Irish Ale! I'd suggest you to buy one of each and try, maybe you'll like them :) When you'll be visiting Warsaw Old Town, look for restaurant called "Zapiecek" and try some pierogi there, or/and go to "Polana Smaków" (14 Emili Plater Street - right in the city center, not far away from the place you guys stay) - in opinion of many, "Polana Smaków" offers one of the best pierogi in Warsaw. And a small traffic tip: if you want to get to the other side of the street (especially if it's a main or just a big street) and there's a zebra nearby as well as traffic light - go to the zebra, try to avoid crossing the street "wherever" 'cos it costs money!.. ; ] That's it for now, I guess... : ]

again so much info, we love it thanks so much. alot of beer to try by the looks of it, which we dont mind 🤗 its funny that you mentioned crossing the street, we are noticing that j walking doesnt seem to happen here, nobody seems to the cross the street even if there is no cars coming, everyone seems to wait for the green man, we dont want to get into trouble so we wait now too

Try Książęce Ciemne (dark) and Książęce Czerwone (red) beer. Both should be better than Haranś and Kasztelan. Żywiec Porter is very.. baltic beer - specific, bitter, strong but very unique beer. BTW I love your work. I'm so sorry I can't treat you my moms bigos because Pudliszki is so bad 😁 Anyway if you'll be near Gloucester UK, let me know 😘

You've bought the cheapest Polish beers and they are actually bland. You can drink good beer in a pub where they make their own beer, such a small brewery, it is quite popular with us. You are very fun to watch, you must have come back together, but I will watch all the episodes.

Harnas beer - Oh Lord! ;) Not tasty ;) One of the cheapest beer as same as Kasztelan. We have a lot of interesting craft beers like Pinta or others (bottle usuallny has got colorfoul, funny label). Popular breweries- Namysłów, perla is ok. Also Zatecky, Książ.

In Warsaw go inside the castle on castle square in the old town. There’s a nice exhibition there. Visit the castles gardens then walk across towards the river where you’ll find the copernicus science centre, and go in. Then go to the roof of the university of warsaw library there’s a small park there on top. Then walk down the Vistula boulevards all the way down to the fountain park where you will find lots of fountains with light shows on the fountains at night. In zakopane go to Kasprowy Wierch it is a cable car that will take you 2000 metres up to the peak of a mountain. Up there there is a restaurant shops and a ski resort. It is a beautiful view. Get there from zakopane station by bus. Be warned it is very high so dress well b4 going there.

ah thank you so much for all that info, we really appreciate it. quick question on zakapane, do you think we will need to rent a car? we would love to explore around, we usually walk around towns and cities, im just zakapane is different and more vast, ie too far to walk
@KrzysztofK1982
@KrzysztofK1982 2 года назад
@@GoTimeTravels no you will not need a car. The two main attractions outside the town are Kasprowy Wierch cable car and Morskie Oko trail both you can get to by buses from the train station. Also I recommend entering the Tatra National Park next to the “Wielka Krokiew” ski jumping complex especially when it snows it’s like narnia in there
