"Breathing is part of emotion." ~ Rande Howell Such a great kernal to unpack in that statement. In music "performance" or athletic "performance" breathing is key. Why would it not be in trading... omg it is so obvious, but such an elusive point.
Its crazy, one of things I realized is how much trading can be kin to a spiritual journey. Ive learned so much about myself in the process of learning to trade that it's border line insane lol.
"Trading forces self-mastery" - So true! I know the technical stuff, but it wasn't until I mastered my emotions that I became successful at trading. Great video, thanks.
Essentially, knowledge is one thing but mindset, is the gatekeeper to success. He is very refreshing to hear speak, certainly one of my favorite guest. I personally am struggling with mindset, especially on Mondays they are the worst. I would love to work with this fine fellow.
This guy is like the grandpa I never had. He changed my life. Thank you Etienne. Your content is amazing. I can't believe how much value you are delivering on such a regular basis. Ima big fan. Wishing you much love, success & prosperity.
I came across Rande's Videos very recently after studying/learning/improving for a career switch into (data-driven) PM/Trading. Having a good background in self-taught psychology knowledge that I applied over the decades, I can say that I am abnormally impressed by the wisdom of this man.
I definately suggest to watch his videos mindset is important as figuring out what and how to approach and see certain things in a traders mindset is a total must. But I meet a lot of traders who out too much importance into their mindset as trading is really about execution and to be able to use the data and organize it all to make better decisions. Trading will definately put into all sorts of situations therefore experience is what gives you wisdom in the longrun
If you win a trade and that was your goal, then you succeed and you're done for the day. No further action required. If you're focusing on performance, then you look at why that trade was green but more importantly ' how can you improve to make it better next time. This can be, 'how can I make more money out of the same trade' or 'how can I improve my win rate', 'how to improve risk management' etc. When you ask those questions and improve your trading every day, you will automatically make consistent money because you are trading well.
Thanks Etienne! Great interview, tons of great insights for me applicable in my personal life as well as my trading career. Struggling with that fear and dealing with risk/uncertainty…understanding my own upbringing and how those experiences need to be dealt with to build the mind to make it more effective for trading.
Superb video!!! FULL of excellent content!!!! Thank you so much for sharing! Sharing knowledge & experience benefits the trading community as a whole!!!! Keep up the great posts!!!!
Maybe I heard wrong, but the experiment example around 21 min is actually the Stanford prison experiment and the shock part is a different experiment Milgram set up
Im on the journey of learning to master my mindset and keeping my mouth shut until Inhave fully analysed the situation at hand. You can study TA all you like but the mindset is key. I have been practising meditation and out of body experiences. I apply that to trading by disconnecting my conscious mind from the profit and loss of a trade and instead visualise winning a 'pattern' you have to forget about the money.
If you are a real trader or want to be this will become your spiritual leader. No need for any testimonial. Check out his work. And understand your brain.
Visualizing, thanks for this great video. I would like to ask a question, I’ve heard a lot about visualization and I have tried it with mixed results. I think we are supposed to see the picture of how we want to act under certain circumstances in our mind and I find it hard to hold that picture for any length of time. Are there any steps I can take to help me get better? Thank you once more!
lol snort some lines & ride Tesla calls to the moon. I think I'm magical I can buy almost any stock & make it change directions. I should make a paper account for fun & switch my hotkeys.
Good, but the speaker totally conflates and mixes together the Zimbardo prison study and the Milgram obedience study. There is a big difference between the two!
To obtain financial freedom, One most either be a business owner, an investor or both, generating passive income, particularly on a weekly and monthly basis. that's the key to living financial stable life. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life,,
We are already in the big crash, inflation is a catastrophe. This CPI report is a colossal failure. To bring the housing market to a halt, the FEDS will have to pull all the stops . The unfortunate issues is that the other market are being decimated. If you want to stay green ,you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 15% and being careful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.
is it really possible to change a mind's pattern? seems to me impossible. we don't choose our thoughts feelings.... You can work on improving some patterns or ignoring some weak patterns but not change patterns. Not even meditation can help, otherwise everybody would become a good trader. I might be wrong
You can change a pattern but it takes time & repetition. That’s also how bad habits/patterns are learned. So you can unlearn them the same way but it takes a long time.
Patterns will change by pain or pleasure easier than not having a feeling attached to it. Our feelings are a subconscious thought of the information in our brain at that time. As we practice learning better policy we will think different pattern thoughts over time.
Bro, Everyone is born innocent but we keep piling up the loads of beliefs through which we create the world in our mind, every moment. To come out of this shell, it's upto our freaking mind(self/ego) to let go and die at that moment and see the other side.. But, the self doesn't allow, as it fears it will die, if it let go on the other side.. No other force, operates us except our own mind. Either profitable or consistent or self sabotage.. it all depends on how thick our shell(ego/self) is... Until, there comes a point, where letting go is the only option, you come out of the shell... And that's the time taken to break your own shell(ego/self) When you truly realise that, you're are more than your body or mind, then what stops to be binder by your body and mind.. Just, go beyond.. Enjoy the death of ego ... Explore the other side of self... God/Creation hasn't made you to suffer.. rather, you're made to explore... With all resources ( body and mind ) 🙏😎
I believe trading is a skill. _Not_ a talent. We are born with certain in-built talents. For example, some people can produce beautiful artwork from childhood, having had no training at all. They were born with the talent inside them. A skill is something that is _learned_ either through repeated mistakes, or learning from others, or a combination of the two. Therefore, anyone with willingness to learn can _learn_ to trade, and develop it into a skill. Anyone can do it. It just takes work, like learning _any_ skill.
So many people trying to sell their course in trading. If you need a mentor or a trading course, trading is not for you. You're better off buying snake oil from these people.
Etienne Crete SLOW DOWN WHEN YOU TALK.....you talk way to fast and with your accent it is impossible at times to understand you as your English is very unclear....I like your content but please SLOW DOWN WHEN YOU TALK!
2 request. 1. Please remove your hat for the indoor interviews. 2. Please raise your camera to a higher position. We do not want to see your body and head ratio is so unreal.
