To answer Adam's question of why they are treating Nezuko differently despite being demon slayers is because Giyu said in Ep 1 that Nezuko (despite losing blood and being severely starved due to the transformation process) tried to save Tanjiro from Giyu and not devour him, he saw how different she was to every other demon he had seen. He also said how its impossible for a demon to resist human flesh and blood especially when they're so hungry. That's why he decided to keep her alive and sent a letter to urokodaki who decided to trust giyu's feeling.

Great reaction, y'all! This is set in the Taisho period (early 1900s) and seppuku is still considered honorable suicide for failing your responsibilities. Tanjiro is responsible for Nezuko and her actions, so he must make sure she doesn't take any human lives...demons on the other hand... The Demon Slayer Corps are like the Men in Black (shadow organizations not officially recognized by the government) that protects citizens and covers up their evidence. Japanese tend to be spiritual in regards to your ancestors and believe they guide you in life, so they don't freak out if they see or hear dead family members. Also, Shinto religion believes all things (living and dead) have spiritual energy and can absorb "feelings", so respect is needed to protect yourself. Hope that helps. Remember, Urokodaki, thinks Tanjiro is too empathetic and indecisive to make it as a Demon Slayer! To answer Adam's qn at 20:16 , in japanese it is called 鬼殺隊 which directly translates to demon killing corps/squad/team. So, the translation is pretty accurate. I think that you are confusing corps for corp(which is short for corporation) For Sarah's qn about Urokodaki being the Head trainer, he's not the Head trainer. There are specific trainers for different styles and strengths of an individual. So its likely that Giyuu thought that Urokdaki's style of training, fighting and handling of the sword suited Tanjiro best. (answer based solely on this particular episode in order to keep it spoiler-free) And about the kimono qn, kimono can be for both male and female, it's just that type that is different. On the other hand the outer wear that Giyuu wears is called a haori, also for both male and female, which can be worn on top of kimonos or other pieces of clothing.

To add onto the existing explanation about Urokodaki's behavior: Almost everyone who got into demon slaying business has a soft spot for the innocent victims whose lives are upended by callous blood-thirsty demons. So if you consider that Nezuko herself, while technically a demon, hasn't had a drop of human blood, she's basically just one of those unfortunate victims that everyone feels for. Think back to the scene where Urokodaki tenderly gave a proper burial to the victims of the axe demon at the temple, it was all that he could do for them. For Nezuko, he must feel the same kind of passion and inevitably "I can still do so much for this child".

The most amazing thing about this is that Tanjiro had spent a day walking with his sister on his back, a night fighting demons, a day running with Urodaki AND having to defeat the mountain without any sleep!

This season's opening is considered to be one of the greatest in anime history, so make sure you actually watch it at least once. It's a serious banger. The head with arms thing is definitely hilarious, because of how it just comes out of nowhere. And Tanjiro's rock-hard forehead was expertly foreshadowed by the interaction with that farmer at the beginning of the episode! I don't know if anyone mentioned it last episode, but the voice actor for Tanjiro was also "Elf" from Haikyuu!

Kimonos are both men and womens, with some differences between them. There's also a few clothes that are similar to or fall under "kimono" but may be called different things. Strictly speaking, most of the demon slayers in this show including Tanjiro arent wearing kimonos but "haori" which is kinda like a kimono in appearance but just the top - it stops around the thighs/hips. You could think of a kimono as a full dress/outfit and a haori as a jacket to wear over other clothes.

Quick idea for copyright mutes: Not sure how you guys feel about headphones/earbuds, but using them should allow you to separate video and mic audio depending on your recording software. Just so we don't miss any quick comments (or shrieks) during those copyright mutes. Might also help enhance the audio experience of the anime 😃. Not a big deal though, I'll keep watching regardless! If you choose to use headphones though, it would probably change up your process on how you send things to your editor and how they will edit which might not be worth it. For example, with headphones, if you just send your editor your camera and mic recording without anime audio, then you'd need a way for editor to match timestamps when they overlay the anime on screen later. However, if you record with your screen/video already overlayed on your camera, you can record your video, camera and mic while muting your video/desktop audio. Then all your editor would have to do is add in the anime audio and any copyright visual edits. I'm not an expert though, so there's probably a better way to do it. Just something to consider in the future.

for what tanjiro and urokodaki are wearing, it's called a haori (ha-or-ee) and giyuu and a few other people we have yet to see also wear them (mostly just the demon slayers wear them over their uniforms)

I think you have to remember that Tanjiro, despite how responsible and mature he seems, is just a 13 year old boy who just lost his entire family, his sister became one of the things that killed his family and they are forcing him to take tests and travel from one place to another. This child has not had a moment of peace in the last few days..

Times have changed and anime now break into seasons released by the animation studio. They no longer have to drag time or add fillers to avoid overtaking the manga and wait for more chapters like old times. Also, after the Ending song there are extra credit/Fun fact scenes of the anime called "Taisho Secret", and you should really watch it as it has some fun facts about the anime and characters.

Hey Adam! I was also a fan of DBZ as a kid. Totally relate to the anime moving slowly - although the manga was much better paced. (Although if you think the DBZ anime is slow, One Piece takes it to another level. Still, One Piece is 100% worth watching.) Anyways, just thought I'd mention to you Dragon Ball Z Abridged by TeamFourStar. It is an abridged parody of the show, and really funny to watch. I'd recommend checking it out in your own time if you still have fond memories of the show. Just note that the first ~15 episodes, while they have a fair share of good moments, definitely suffer from poor production quality and the immaturity of their creators (being sorta dumb teenagers around that time). But around the 20 episode mark, the creators really starting hitting their grove. And by the 30s, their production quality starts to match the actual show with original animations and original music being produced by the show. Each episode is like 10 to 15 minutes long. Just thought I would mention it to you, in case you find yourself with free time :)

One of the reasons why Dragonball Z was so slow was because the anime had caught up to the original manga (comic) series so they had to stall to figure out what happens next so they can adapt it into the anime. Another reason why is because everything was hand written at the time. No CGI, no Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator to speed up the process so the animators would cut corners, like the characters "moving so fast that you can't see them with the naked eye" so all you see on screen are shockwaves. Either way, Dragonball Z was on the front lines in terms of technology and animation in the 80's and 90's so, though the criticism is valid, it's like comparing a Walkman to an iPhone.

Regarding Adam's impression about fast paced nature of Demon Slayer vs slow pacing of DBZ, it's actually because DBZ started really long ago, and at that time anime was regularly televised and an episode would be animated as the manga was continuously releasing new chapters. That would result in slow paced animation and addition of filler episodes (episodes that don't directly add to the storyline and are not written by original manga author but just approved by them). You will see similar thing in anime like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Case Closed, Slam Dunk etc. Those animes are really long. (Naruto : 720 eps, One Piece: 1000+ eps). However Demon Slayer or any newer animes have taken it to releasing a fixed amount of episodes every year (ex: 12-24 eps per season). So the pacing is faster and the episodes are mostly always cannon (original chapters that affect plot line).

That’s one thing I hated about DBZ when I watched it was how they spend while episodes staring at each other or powering up.

The demons needs to eat to get stronger and heal their wounds. Nezuko don't wanna eat humans, so how will she get stronger and heal her wounds? That's something we will find out in the future.

32:51 Adam saying Dragon Ball Z progress very slowly make me want to bring this up: the plot progressing slow is very common in the shounen(means"young teenage boy", usually targets teenage audience, but adults can also watch) animes. Shows like One Piece, Dragon Ball Z are notoriously known for the plot being dragggged out and progresses slow, Dragon Ball Z being one of the worst at this.. As to why the plot progresses so slowly, well, if the show doesn't end, the company will have more time to cash on the franchise and it makes great profits for them. Another reason being, since these big shows are usually aired weekly, sometimes it comes to a point where the anime plot catches up with the manga and the source material runs out.. slowing down the anime plot allows the author more time to produce more material, sometimes they put in filler episodes that has nothing to do with the story in between for that same reason. Demon Slayer has a way faster plot than Dragon Ball, since 1. Demon Slayer is a seasonal show, it does not air weekly. 2. The first two epidoes need to set up the story background for the serie and i think they want to start strong so they grabs the audience attention....the are bits in the show further down the line where the plot feels slow but the wait is definitely worth it. I hope you like the show, the show has great music, openings endings sound tracks and i enjoyed the story a lot. as for right now there are already 3 seasons and one movie out, the movie being important to the plot i think it comes after season2, but check the watch order just to be safe.. So yeah, if you do enjoy the show i think you will have lots of fun with the rest of the seasons❤

Dragonball Z is really slow cause at the time, the manga and the anime were run simultaneously. Since the anime is adapting the manga, they always have to stall for time by making the anime full of fillers so the manga can get ahead. This is not the case for most anime, Dragonball Z was just unique. They did cut all the fillers in Dragonball Z Kai which is the enhanced version.

Yeah dragon ball z is definitely from an era of anime and manga where slow pacing was the norm, but even back then it was notorious for it’s long shots of just 2 dudes staring at each other menacingly. Nowadays with the cut throat nature of the manga industry if you try to write with dragon ball z’s pacing your story would get axed before it finishes the first arc, much less get an anime adaptation 😂😂
