I'm curious on how yall are going to do this. It's not technically season 2, it's more a continuation movie. It was just broken up into episodes for reasons. So tl:dr season 2 is after the movie or however many episodes the movie was cut into.

Demon slayer's animation is god-tier. it gets better and better every season also, Sarah has a good point about Kanao and Tanjiro scene, which I never notice before even though I watched it 5 times already I guess if you look at it realistically Tanjiro is kinda a bit intruding on her cope mechanism. But I was just enjoying the flow and thought "This is definitely the moment she falls in love"
Fortunately..kanao is more open minded than we know. When the older sister gave her the coin she accepted her advice and she says she follow orders. She could hae stayed staring in space forever useless but she takes her chances with coin to move forward. Mom is right though..I have been disabled and recovering and all of the sudden theres a jury summon oh hey from now on your gonna walk 5 blocks and your not excuse unless you have a doctors note and i cant even walk more than 7 steps and had a very hard time taking care of myself. It was offensive and insensitive.

Kanao's scene with Tanjiro always rubbed me the wrong way; tbh I agree with Sarah that Tanjiro comes off as insensitive. But it's especially tough because Kanao doesn't have the "luxury" of falling into despair, however calm she appears outwardly. I think it's a rare example of Tanjiro genuinely overreaching in a situation where he usually shouldn't, but is seeing someone in need and also can't stand idly by.
I want to make a bet. You both are going to LOVE Zenitsu. If this season didn't do it, the Mugen Train arc will. If it doesn't either, there is no way season 2 won't. And if, somehow, I don't know how, season 2 doesn't make you fall in love with him, you are in for a HUGE chain of surprises later. Good luck, and brace yourself for amazing arcs back to back, because you won't get a break for two more seasons after the Mugen Train movie!

You keep thinking Tanjiro is manipulative. I'll say it again: if the same words came from others, it would be manipulation, but not when Tanjiro says them. He genuinely believes in the words he says; he's just too pure-hearted. He can't even tell a single lie without struggling immensely, his face turning red, and his expression becoming flustered.
I would suggest watch the first episode of Season 2 and then watch the movie. The arc was originally presented as a movie so it will be the best way to experience it. Then continue watching the rest of Season 2 after the movie starting with Ep 8. 🙏🏻
well sometimes a genuine heartfelt slap to the face from someone who really cares about you is much more effective than a fake gentle hug if you know what i mean. its like real friends are the most harsh critics, so sometimes you need a little push to make a leap of faith even its a little forcefull.

I totally get both sides of the conversation around the 26:00 minute mark. While we can only view it as a third-party with little information, I think the nuances of what Tanjiro did for Kanao ultimately skew the situation into a more positive light, though not free of criticism. Many commenters have already touched on the "when trauma becomes ingrained" point, but I feel that this more accurately demonstrates Kanao's ability to reclaim her sense of agency and control. Whether this has a positive effect on her in the long run remains to be seen, obviously. Kanao is somebody who Tanjiro has grown relatively close to due to his stubborn demeanor and relentless determination. We see her make more of an effort to be mentally 'present' around him than we do others, excluding her sisters. Perhaps this kinship afforded Tanjiro the confidence to take such bold actions knowing that Kanao would understand his intentions instead of taking his actions at face value. However, I believe that it also allows us to find fault in Tanjiro's seemingly endless optimism. Throughout the show thus far, we witness Tanjiro brute force his way through most everything around him. It's not until Rui that he really feels the chasm between his talent, skill and ability in relation to his foes. His willpower always sees him through to the end, albeit at death's door; his focus is on refining his skills and mental fortitude to save Nezuko. When it comes to other people, he has charisma and charm, but little experience; the effect of growing up in a small mountain town where the people are limited, I'd wager. In his eyes, he may have only seen the "here is how you can reclaim your agency and control" result of his actions, or "How you can listen to the little voice in your heart." The impact on Kanao's emotional and psychological stability due to his interference may have skirted over his head due to youth or inexperience- perhaps both? He may have overlooked the, "You are unbound by a coin, live freely" implications. Conversely, Kanao has experienced much more of life (in a negative way) and has been steeped in the horrors of demon slaying for longer than Tanjiro. We don't know much of her psyche, and Tanjiro knows even less than we do since he isn't privy to her inner monologue. The hijacking of her coin was a reckless act, perhaps even selfish, born from good intentions. Somebody with such deep seated trauma having their world forcibly changed in the name of "reclamation of self" may be confusing and, ultimately, harmful since their grounding and wellness techniques are rendered moot. I like to look at it as a soft commentary on perspective and growth relative to other people: "Here is a good act! But are kindness and goodness always beneficial? Do selfishness and selflessness transcend personal intention?"
I recomend to you guys watch it as a movie but with ,, episode 0 '' about flame hashira. Love your reactions especially talk between scenes i really like it that way it's so much better than just watching whole episode and talk about it later :) keep doing that, you guys are great.
Id only point out, not mad at all by the way, you are going in knowing the back story and trans and tanjero isnt, so of course he'll not think of the trauma and how the coin helps her.

I'll throw my vote in the hat to say, I hope yall watch the movie instead of the episodes! I think the next arc is best when you get it all at once! Also Adam, whoever told you to "broaden your horizens" because you said Demon Slayer has great animation is just being a snob. There are a lot of people who devalue the show because the plot isn't particularly complex, but even those people will admit that the show is "Carried by the animation". Sure there are plenty of other anime with good animation, but the studio that does Demon Slayer is one of the best when it comes to sheer animation quality!
Guys, watch both media, film and episodes. Film, for you to get to know the beautiful and skillful work of Ufutable and the episodes, for us, in addition to the first two episodes of the next season have more things that are not there in the film because of the fire hashira (giving character development to more). But, one more thing, after these two episodes in the anime comes the film divided into about 5 episodes. Just so you know.

I interpreted the coin toss scene between Kanao and Tanjiro in this way. Kanao said that she considered everything to be “It doesn’t matter.” and that she relied on coin tosses to make decisions. However, when Tanjiro asked to borrow her coin, she decided to give it to him on her own, without thinking “It doesn’t matter.” or resorting to a coin toss. Moreover, after Tanjiro tossed the coin, she was disturbed by the result of the toss. Her heart had already begun to change due to her interaction with Tanjiro. If she truly thought everything was “It doesn’t matter.”, she would have continued to say “Farewell” like a broken record, but she didn’t. In other words, while Tanjiro’s coin toss certainly helped to move her heart, she had already been recovering, and she unconsciously desired it herself. Also some infos about the movie, it is cut up into like 7 episodes, the first episode was not in the movie, and it's like a prequel to flesh out the context even more, maybe you should watch the episode 1 then watch the movie... Honestly it wouldn't be a problem at all if you just watch the movie as well
