Lovely, emotional piece... great sound from the Clavinet, as others stated it almost sounds like a guitar. Fantastic music and talent, keep up the great work!
Beautiful unorthodox approach to the clav. It is far too easy to just throw it on a wah and go to town (I plead guilty to this) than it is to concentrate on pieces more closely resembling what the instrument was designed for. Excellent job, and beautifully recorded.
Thanks Ed. See the Clav through a whole new light thanks to this track... BTW your Rhode and Minimoog jam is still my definitive keyboard clip - I just keep comin back to it - which is how I found the new track.
Thanks!! Glad you like them. It was my dream setup too. I wrote down on a piece of paper all the things that I really wanted, regardless of price and availability. I ended up finding it all for good prices and now I get to enjoy it! Do it! :)
Awesome sound with that effect. I am currently repairing my old Duo and seems that yours also need some string cleaning from that rubber tips. But that sound is still so nice... Thanks for this video.
+VelkyZamo Thanks man! Yeah I actually think it could use a re-string. After playing a mean sounding D6 recently... I'm going to try and get a bit closer to that sound..
Please, put a link to your facebook fanpage on your videos! It would help a lot on the propagation of your work, which deserves MUCH more attention that it has! Nice to see you are making more videos! The best word to describe them is "eargasm" :D
There might be something off with your pianet "hammers" because mine doesn't have that click after the decay (when you depress the keys). Awesome sound though. Love your stuff.
Yeah they're sticky eh? I kinda like that percussive sound though, and it means I can use the note-offs as percussive elements. Took a while to figure out why playing it 'felt' different rhythmically!
Alano Danone Cheers Alano! Search up Flite nz and Harbour City Electric on bandcamp, I have a soundcloud too, and I'll be putting more videos up in due course :)
Tom Donaldson I find it just by keeping eyes and ears open, and being really active in the music scene. People soon get to know that you're a gear nerd, and start telling you about things that pop up or just offer things! Sometimes I meet people for the first time and I'm like 'You! I've heard about your gear!' and they say they've also heard about my gear. Hahaha. So word gets around. How do I afford it? I try to only spend money on things that I really want, and hardly ever eat out or buy little things. I'm a musician so I don't earn a lot, but I spend over 3/4 of my income on music related stuff. Thanks for watching! Glad you like it man. Got some really amazing stuff coming up in the next six months I'll definitely be making a fuss about!!
Why, it allows for an extremely compact, yet good sounding electric piano. Rarely does it actually come through in the sound, and the only drawback i've ever noticed is no ability for a sustain pedal. Sounds beautiful to me, and it was good enough for many mazing keyboardists! Dave Stewart, Tony Banks, Billy preston (and just about every other beatle), Nicky Hopkins, Mike Ratledge, Dave Sinclair, Christine McVie, and ETC. I love those things, as you probably can tell 😆. If only they didn't stop producing them so early on, we all could have affordable and portable great sounding electric pianos.
calling a pianet or any other instrument a ''one trick pony'' is like calling a guitar a one trick pony , its not the instrument but the limit is on the player's imagination
