Love your videos Barry but man some of those drivers are crazy. It makes it so much more scary to drive the roads now. Hats off to you for the job you do in the conditions you deal with.

What a nice mover. Not as stiff as most fjords. She has a nice tempo and really swings her legs.

barryhook2 I remember training a pair of gelding brothers for riding here in Canada. I found that once they knew their job, and were fit, both of them would give their hearts for you and continue until they dropped. They were such hard workers, and a smooth ride as well !! In the summer, when temperatures would be 30°C, they would still work their hearts out. We had to be very careful that they didn't overheat. Winters here, they grew such a coat that they didn't need a rug on.

She is extremely pretty, love the colouring, that tail is very hypnotic. How many miles can a fit horse or pony travel pulling a carriage. Doing a fast walk, trot.

Hi Linda, once fittened up, our horses do 15 mile trips out for training. How far a fit pony pulling a carriage depends on so many factors - weight, terrain, weather conditions etc. Speaking generally, 25 miles in a long day would not be unreasonable.

Barry I love your videos, and how you are with the horses. At the beginning of your training videos, do you think that you could take a sideview shot? That way we could get an overall view of the horses.

are horses allowed on any road? here they have right away on town and county roads and are allowed on some state roads but not thruways unfortunalty most drives do not know the horse has any rights to be out there

They are not allowed on a motorway (three lanes of 70mph traffic) but they are allowed on every other road, including a dual-carriageway (two lanes of 70mph traffic).

With a carriage you do have to mind the traffic signs? Just like a car? And their hooves are ok with steel hitting pavement? And you could tell if they were in pain, right? Be safe n gentle wishes debs from Texas

barryhook2. I have a question. How do you prevent the piece of harness under the crouper, that is against the horses hind legs, sorry my mind is drawing a blank on its correct name, from giving them a rub burn? Is it just a correctly fitted harness that they don't get that rub burn, or even if correctly fitted do you get a bit of a burn on the horses hind legs? Thank you in advance for any insight you could give me. Because all the Pacing horses with hobbles that I ever worked with, always got that friction burn.

@27:26. min you cross a section of road, then very dangerous metal spikes sticking out of the road ... wow if your horse step on one or someone blow a tire. That should be reported.
