Two questions: 1. How do I differentiate who the "click" is for? If everyone knows that it means a treat is coming, I'm going to have to hand out a round of treats with every click. I have two dogs and two birds, so how do I work with only one at a time? 2. I have a Quaker that can and will mimic almost anything. In your experience, is he going to start clicking to demand treats? Or just randomly, thereby confusing everyone else?
Katy Highwind To answer question 1, a common practice is to either only use the clicker when you are working with one animal at a time, so only train with the other animals out of the room, or to get a few different clickers that sound slightly different (like from different brands) and have each individual have its own clicker

yes, you can train a bird to poop in a specific place.. but it requires a lot of patience, close observation, and timing. you time how long between your birds poops, and repeatedly put them wherever you want them to be when they poop.. then, when they popp in the appropriate place you reward them. repeat.. over and over and over ..and over.. and over...... and over...
how often they poop depends on what kind of bird you have really. my budgies poop about every 10-15 minutes. larger birds poop less often, but ya know.. larger..
Hi, this is unrelated to training clickers, but I was wondering: how do you feel about keeping a single lovebird as opposed to a pair? Is it cruel to leave one alone when (if 😬) I go to work 30-40 hours a week, or would it be okay if I set it up properly?

That being said, the video is great as always! I don't use clickers but I guess i'll give it a try! Some people seem to find a lot of success with it :)
My parrotlet has only been living with us for two days. She’s very active and chats lots. She won’t come to our hand very quickly but once we get her out she’s very comfortable. My question is she’s only two months old so is she too young to start clicker training her? If she’s ok to get started I’ll wait in till she’s a bit more used to living in our house. Thanks!
i know you care about birds and i really like your channel!!! i was wondering if you could make a video about jacob feder (i think that’s his name anyway) I’m 90% sure he abuses animals and stages “rescues” for views and i haven’t seen any videos on it!! he did this with two lovebirds which i am pretty sure he killed (or at least led them to their death) thanks!! i am going to comment this on as many bird channels because it makes me really upset!
Hi @flocktalk, I have a question kind of unrelated to the video but I’m just wondering...for a regular diet I know I should not give seed but I also feel like giving them vegetables 24/7nis wrong😂😅 so I’m just wondering what you give your guys as a regular diet? A well balanced pellet! I recommend TOPs, caitec oven fresh bites, and golden feast golden obles (the ingredients are solid but I’ve never been able to get a bird to eat them so I’m conflicted on that stance). More easily available brands I’d suggest would be Roudybush or Harrison’s.
Hello excellent videos , quick question what’s the first thing that one should do after bringing a parrolet home ? Some videos I’ve looked at say leave them in the cage for a week others say to get them out right away and start traing. You have great videos looking forward to some advice thanks !
I have Tourette’s syndrome and already make a lot of different noises including clicking noises, would this confuse my birds while training them with a clicker?
Not necessarily, they’re smart enough to notice different tones and understand the situation. Using words or cues that signify when you start training (let’s go!, direct to perch) and end the session (all done! Provide a toy or move to different location) could also help clarify that communication. The more reinforcement history they have with the clicker the easier it will be for them to differentiate between you and the clicker. If they never get a reinforcer for sounds you make and exclusively get rewards for sounds the clicker makes they’ll stop responding to the sounds you make, only focusing on the clicker. If you do decide to use a clicker and are finding some communication problems you can always try different bridge devices and find what works best for you! A softer whistle, foot tapping on the floor, a chipper “good!” Or “yes!” Can all function just as well so long as the sounds/tones/ volumes are consistent
Because you want to be able to have it in your hand and click as soon as they do the behavior and with a phone, it may be more inconvenient and have more of a delay in between
