Hi doctor! It's a loads of info! Well, I did check the description didn't find link about CESR route! Could please share me the link below to know it's procedure as well. Thanks in advance mam. 💕
Is there a possibility to transition from a non-training post to a training post and vice versa? And how does it work. If we transition mid-training, and want to go back to we have to start over?
You can take a year out mid-training to pursue other career goals and continue training after that. You have to get it approved by the training programme director.
Hi Lavnya, Excellent info !! What would you suggest for me? 1) DM Oncology in my country & apply through CESR to become a consultant (oncology) in UK 2) MD Internal medicine here & applying for oncology specialty training in UK Is specialty certificate(oncology) essential for first scenario or only MRCP is fine Thank you
Hello doc. Thank u for such informative videos I have completed the royal college exams and waiting for my GMC. Like in the vidoe most people have advised me to start with a non-training jobs rather than applying for ST3 directly. But i feel it would just delay the process of getting a cct. Can u plz tell me what r the risks involved and if it is at all advisable to start as ST3 in the UK if someone gets the chance? Is it even manageable? Any private academy or anything that could give induction for the same if required or is their shadowing first before starting as a st3?
Hi MaM i hv a question pumping upn in my mind..As now iam in first year of medical clg..u said in previous videos that their is a shortage of doctor over their in uk and they need doctors ..so i think that after 5 years of my medicl clg when i will give ukmle..the shortage will still remain uptill then..or the storage will be compensated..and the competition will goes higher from present?????😕😓
MaM at least u sholud have a rough idea of it..plz tell me something to motivate me for studies..bcz i really want to go uk..on the other hand im afraid that i will make it or not..😓
Thank you so much! very informative! after medical school school and internship in my home country, i will take the plab hoping to get gmc full registration. what job would you recommend for after i get the registration? x
Hello! I'm planning on coming to the UK when I graduate later this year and work in a non training position as a doctor. However I'm a bit worried about figuring out how the system works and any paperwork that is involved in day to day hospital work. I'm saying that because I have now worked as a nurse in my home country for about a year and there are still things that I'm not sure about. When I imagine having the same issues in a foreign country stresses me out but that won't stop me of course. How complicated would you say the administrative work and paperwork is?
Hi, there is a fair amount of paper work for doctors. But i think it is manageable. I have not worked in other countries, so I can't really compare it to other places.
@@g.a.r3058 Yes, you normally have a hospital induction prior to starting your post. If you are new to the NHS, there will also be a period (1-2 weeks) of shadowing prior to starting your post.
Sister .. I have worked as an anaesthesia resident for 5 yrs in my home country .. now I plan to get a training post of anaesthesia in UK .. what I can do ?? Thanks in advance
After GMC registration, apply for anesthetic trust grade/fellowship jobs in UK. This will give you NHS experience. After that, apply for speciatly training in anesthetics.
Hi Dr Lavnya, love your videos! Just curious, are there a lot of Asian doctors in the NHS? Also, is it common for doctors to date other doctors they work with?
Hi, yes I will. You can find jobs on NHS jobs www.jobs.nhs.uk or use a recruitment agency. bdiresourcing.com You can normally secure a job faster using a recruitment agency.
Hey, I'm an IMG from Russia with the right to work in the UK .I had graduated in June 2021. I could only get a PLAB 1 seat in August. Could you please tell me what are the non-training jobs available for me in the mean time?
Hallo Dr I really love your videos, I just have 2 questions, firstly upon completion of medical school and English exams (IELTS/OET) and no need for plab ( as in the situation where your primary medical degree is from EEA and accepted by gmc) what is the next step in order to register for a non training job and start working in the uk?, secondly if you need to apply for a visa does the nhs sponsor you?
Another great video as always! A question, can a doctor who completed a Standalone FY2 program apply for a non training job for a year if he wants to improve his chances of getting a tough specialty? Or does he have to opt for a non training job right from the beginning instead of FY2 if he wants a second non training year?
I'm Shahid Bhat from India (Kashmir)..I m student of MBBS part 1 I would like to know how I can prepare for FRCP from now..if u mention some books and app or vedio lecture

Hello Lavnya:) after CT1 and CT2 i go to ST3 (if i pass mrcs) if i want to be surgeon. However, what happens at ST1 and ST2? I never understood these two.
ST1 and ST2 is similar to CT1 and CT2. They are referred to differently depending on the specialty. In run-through specialties it is called ST1 and ST2. In non run-through specialties it is called CT1 and CT2. Do check out this video on How to become a surgeon in the UK ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w5QT9Olfmk8.html
Thanks for this super informative video :) Do all non training jobs posts in the UK require indian MBBS graduates to have taken and passed PLAB1&2? Also, where can I get a list of non training jobs in the UK?
Thank you doctor! Is it difficult to start with the FY2-equivalent non-training post and, after finshing it, apply directly to a specialty programme (i.e. prepare CREST as a non-trainee)?
Dear mam, i completed md anesthesia from india and working as medical officer, now i got married and may relocate to uk within couple of months, i am confused which branch to be join ( training or non training ) could u guaid me pls.
Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.
Hi I have recently finished my MD radiation oncology training in india. I plan to appear for plab this year.could you please guide me about the post on which I can work if I get into a non trainee job after plab along with salary pa.

I m a final year med student from pakistan and i wanna take the plab exam..
Hey doc!! Where how can I contact u I have some queries regarding MRCS and further pathway Seeking for ur help to get a clear vision on that.. Waiting for ur response Have a great day!!
I don't want to work in UK Just want a pg degree in Radiology or dermatology or internal medicine Which exam I have to give plab or mrcp How much time will it take to complete the exams and courses
I am not sure about the best route for doctors who want to work in another country. Sorry. I can only advise you on the pathway for specialty training if you want to settle in the UK.
To work in the UK, you need to obtain GMC registration. Do check out this video- How to apply for GMC registration - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6dBcaV9_c8E.html
Can you start with an fy2 level non training job and switch to a training job like ct1 etc later on? If so, what would you have to do to switch to the training job
Lavnya Balenderan Thank you for your quick response doctor. What I mean to ask is, can you apply for speciality training after an “fy2 level non training” job (not an fy2 job)
Thanks alot for your time. I have a question plz. How can i apply for training job in GP while i am outside the UK? Suppose that i am fully GMC registred. Or i have to go first for a non training job to go through the UK then apply. Thanks again And please another question. What else u need to apply for GP training if u have GMC registration but you have worked only in orthopedic surgery for 3 years after MBBS in your country?
Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme. Apply for a FY2 post (non-training) in UK. After FY2, apply for GP training. I think the eligibility to enter GP training is completion of FY2. (gain all the FY2 competencies). I'm a consultant in my country! To be more specific, is it possible to have an st3 plus level non training job with plab (without mrcp) if you're an experienced specialist going through CESR? Thanks!
Hii ..I'm from India..and planning for plab ..after plab 2 will there any difficulty in getting job @ NHS without experience (with only house job) ..also is there any criteria for getting core training in desired specialty after fy2 ..pls clear my doubts

Hi Lavnya ! im doing IMT ..entering IMY3 next month in India . Its a new venture of the JRCPTB. Have cleared MRCP part 1 . There was a new update saying that in view of COVID 19 , candidates who pass part 1 can apply for ST3 provided they clear the membership exam by the end of ST3. In that case do u have an idea about GMC registration ? and also my fiance is doing her MS in ophthalmology now in India. What should she do if she has to get a job there ?
Normally you can apply for GMC registration after MRCP. I am not sure about how the GMC registration will change during COVID. She should register with the GMC, either by doing PLAB or one of the UK speciatly exams- www.gmc-uk.org/registration-and-licensing/join-the-register/before-you-apply/acceptable-postgraduate-qualifications The specialty exams will be more approriate for her since she is a senior doctor. After obtaining GMC registration, she can apply for ophthalmology jobs here. You can find jobs on NHS jobs www.jobs.nhs.uk or use a recruitment agency. bdiresourcing.com
No. UK doctors don't normally do PG degree to specialise and become a consutlant. We do the specialty training programme to specialise. Specialty training is not conducted by a university. It is not a MD/degree/masters. Specialty training programme is free. You work for the hospital while you train. You will also receive a monthly salary.

To enter higher surgical training ST3 , you need MRCS and 2 years of core surgical experience (gained all the competencies of CT1 and CT2). Also, do note that most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.
Hi I wanted to know that is there a specific interview season or application time for training interviews ? If I work from jan ro August, will I be able to attend interviews and get into training in the same year ?
No, after doing a non-training post, you can apply for specialty training. Do make sure that you gain all the FY2 competencies during the non-training post and obtain the Foundation Achievement of Competency Document (FACD) . You will need the FACD to apply for specialty training.
Hello dr lavnya I have done my mbbs and internship and currently working at hospital After plab will I have to apply for FY2 or I can straight away go for CT1 Thnk you:)
Internship is equivalent to FY1 in the UK. After FY1, doctors normally do FY2 before entering core training. Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.
If you plan to do ST3 training in UK, best not to come via the MTI route. MTI route is mainly for doctors who want to return to their home country. MTI is only for 2 years.

Can u explain in what ways my cv will improve in case of non training post . I didn’t get that point right ! Is it highly recommended for me to take a non training post 😕and go through cesr route ?
You don't have to go via the CESR route if you do specialty training in UK. Pathway to become a consultant in UK for IMG- (easiest and fastest route) After MBBS, internship and PLAB, apply for FY2 jobs in UK. After FY2 (1 year) , apply for specialty training in your desired specialty. The selection into specialty training will depend on you CV/portfolio and interview performance. Do audits, quality improvement projects, posters, presentations, attend courses related to the specialty you want to pursue. This will enhance your CV/portfolio.
If you have completed MRCS and have 2 years of core surgical training, you can apply for higher surgical training in your desired field eg, general surgery, urology, vascular, orthopaedics, plastics, ent, cardiothoracics etc. Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.

Thank you for your video, very inspiring! Can I ask one question: is there limitation on training post of IMGs? I heard the NHS does not issue visa to imgs so that the imgs can only apply non training post? Thank you
Not really. If you did MBBS outside the UK/EU, you need to register with the GMC. To register with the GMC you can do PLAB or one of the UK specialty exams like MRCP/MRCS/MRCOG/MRCPCH etc. PLAB is suitable for newly qualified doctors and the UK speciatly exams will be suitable for more senior doctors.
