Tyson, what is it like to watch someone throw the weight clarence does so effortlessly? must be like watching a superhero
@TysonE
@TysonE 7 лет назад
It was actually the opposite, it all seemed so normal. In addition to being short for time and making sure I got some good shots in between my sets, he was moving the massive weights like I move challenging weight proportional to my own strength so just seemed like he was putting in his work like I'd expect anyone to do. It wasn't till I was editing and I was calculating the weight and comparing it to my own strength and others I've trained with that I was like o.O woh... any type of bar bend looks pretty formidable.

Love the video Tyson! Would love to ask him about fear: how do you cope with getting under that bar with that kind of weight on it? No matter how strong you are, the mental game must be so on point!
@TysonE
@TysonE 7 лет назад
Thanks. I didn't ask that but from my own experience it's not something you spend much (if any) time thinking about because it takes time to build up serious numbers so the process of going from 50kg above your head to 200kg involves so many reps that your confidence/comfort/muscle memory in handling that weight has been developed so it's a non-issue. Imagine whatever weight you lift with now and picture adding weight to that slowly for 2 years. Each weight increase won't seem like much but you'll appreciate the progress when you look back after 2 years. Put simply, a successful athlete/lifter doesn't perform unprepared.

@caseyb2598
@caseyb2598 7 лет назад
he probably explained it to you but when you help someone, wait til it pauses for a few seconds or he says grab it. If the weight is not moving and just hanging in the air, then he's locked in at pushing up 200kgs while the weight is pushing down 200kgs. the amount of weight you would have to pick up to help him rack it would be closer to probably 10-15kgs. Even if the weight starts falling or makes it all the way to the chest, most lifters can still lift about 80% of the weight while you help with the other amount. These are all arbitrary numbers but I think I may have gotten my point across. Either way I'm glad he got the second lift. He is definitely in great shape to break his PB with the same weight twice. Great vid

You need to learn to spot on a bench properly. First off, opposite grip on the barbell when assisting, one hand assists pronated and the other hand assists supinated. Next, when the bench presser is slowing down the bar coming up, bring your hands close to the bar for assistance, if they say,"Ive got it," then back off a little but be prepared to assist if the bar slows down again. You'd be surprised by just applying your fingers on the bar how psychologically this can assist a bench presser. Also, don't forget to assist in bringing the bar back to the bar support. It's easy for a massive bench press weight to miss the bar support, then come crushing down on the person on the bench, I've witnessed it personally, broken ribs to the bench presser, decades ago. If they're not achieving a personal bench record, keep the weight moving throughout the movement. But as I already stated, most times very little effort needs to be placed when assisting the bench presser.

Wow @ 3:37 he failed at 396lbs over the head, in the previous video, it was his transformation from age 12 to now, and he got 490 over his head. Maybe he had to recover from an injury.
