UK Railway FAST trains at West Hampstead Thameslink station, Midland Mainline, including Freight, Express, Regional and Commuter Passenger trains in May 2021! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
A Saturday Evening of Midland Mainline services at West Hampstead Thameslink, heading around the South of England, United Kingdom. Trains include:
- East Midlands Railway HSTs (Ex-LNER)
- 43/0s - Built in 1975/82 (Including 43102 & 43274)
- Mk3 Coaches - Built in 1975/88
- East Midlands Railway Class 180s
- 180/1 - Built in 2000/01
- East Midlands Railway Meridian Class 222s
- 222/0 - Built in 2003/05 - Midland Mainline sets
- Thameslink Class 700s (2 Variants)
- 700/0 - Built in 2014/18 - AC & DC - Eight Car Units
- 700/1 - Built in 2014/18 - AC & DC - Twelve Car Units
- Freightliner Class 66s.
Filmed on 15th May 2021, Between 15.30 and 19.00.
This video includes 35 Class 700s, thats just under a third of the entire Thameslink fleet!

Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.

I'm gonna recommend you trainspotting at Purley Oaks Surrey not because it's my local station, because although it has four platforms with two closed for stopping trains, you can see a variety of passing trains and a lot of class 455 horns ( their classic) I go there for trainspotting alot. Thanks for going there

West Hampstead Thameslink is a National Rail station on the Midland Main Line and is served by Thameslink trains as part of the Thameslink route between Kentish Town and Cricklewood. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2.

More information: It is used for services to St Albans City, Luton, Bedford, London St Pancras International, Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Brighton, Sutton, Greenwich and Rainham

Lovely stuff as ever. And always nice to see the 700’s whizzing through at pace - I see them frequently but only rattling through London/Greenwich at a snail’s pace. Not far off 5K subs now - great to see you still going so well!

Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve seen you around. I think the 700s are pretty boring compared to what they replaced but it was necessary to improve the thameslink network. The channel is doing really great and I’m really excited to see how it goes. Hopefully we’ll hit 5K by Christmas, that would be awesome!

@@StarlifeStudios Saturday 9th October, I went to Hayes which is actually in Greater London (Zone 5). Began from London Cannon Street. Calling stops include New Cross, Lewisham (busy station including Docklands Light Railway) and Elmers End (Croydon Tramlink stops at the station, saw one going to Wimbledon. A big Tesco store is located near the railway). On the return, another train service avoided Lewisham and New Cross. It was going to London Charing Cross.

The spotters' reaction at 26:00 is priceless. They are right to be that excited... those classic beauties, the diesel-operated HSTs and Voyagers never get old... even though the new British rolling stock includes so many beauties, it will be sad to see these retire. Amazing video as always. You're one of my favourites. Greetings from Portugal (and its CP).

I have been impressed by the great amount of 12-coaches-trains and the "shortest" ones have got 8. It is a striking difference than in the 90-ies, when EMU usually had got 4 coaches and only few had got 8. I must admit that there has been since an increasing number of passengers

Thameslink (when it runs correctly) is actually a really good service. As you said, the current 700 trains are a world away from the single 319s that used to operate some of these services. When travelling through London, I often choose Thameslink over the Underground just for the air conditioning (especially in summer!) Thanks so much for watching and commenting anisocoro 😃⭐️

The EMR Class 222 Meridian which were operated on the Corby service has been replaced by the Class 360/1 Desiro cascaded from Greater Anglia. Maybe EMR could operate a semi-fast service between St. Pancras and Corby with stops including Kentish Town, West Hampstead Thameslink, St. Albans City, Luton Airport Parkway, Luton, Bedford, Wellingborough, Kettering and Corby.

Good place to film. You can see all 6 tracks! Trains I expected: Thameslink 700s, EMR 222s, 180s, and HSTs. They will dominate the video 5:14 Palindrome and James Bond gag. If there are 35 Thameslink Trains, could 700123 be in this video? That's my favorite one. Some trains have serious graffiti!

I don’t think 700123 or 700111 were in this video. Just think, back in 2016, all those 700s were 319s, 387s and 377s instead!

Thanks for your support Donovan 😃 I have previously considered both of those. I have had issues with Southeastern staff at Dartford but I intend to try and retry later this year. Abbeywood has a really awkward platform layout so its unlikely I'll visit this one soon.

I wish I had lots of houses!! The honest answer is that a lot of these trips involve extremely long days or precisely planned to make use of the time. I usually drive to all my locations except very long trips (like northern england). I target two videos per filming day but sometimes (like on the day I did Milton Keynes) I manage four! (although I'm shattered at the end of it) 😃

Are there headcode 1 Thameslink or only 9 and 2?

I was recently observing that Headcode 9 are used only by 700s.If you want to see it by yourself,see a video at Blackfriars (past VS present)

I believe that anything operating directly out of London Blackfriars via Denmark Hill are 2 Headcodes.

@@StarlifeStudios False.Because I saw the Past & Present video at London Blackfriars and a train on Blackfriars to Sevenoaks service had Headcode 9.Then I went to the On Rails app and it showed that was going through Denmark Hill
