Jimmy Ellis is one of the greatest vocalists of all time, added to the incredible production of this song makes it something special, spread the likes.
Absolutely beautiful! For those of us Young Buck L.A. #Disco Heads who were "late" to the Disco Scene back in the 70's, many of us first got formerly introduced to *The* *Trammps* from the cult hit John Travolta Movie *Saturday* *Night* *Fever.* I used to drive over to a Discotheque, in the San Fernando Valley and pop in my Sat Fever OST *Soundtrack* *Cassette* straight up in the parking lot and blast that incredible dance music for the *Juicy* *Dames* coming out da Club.
Speaking of Saturday Night Fever, the Trammps used to do shows at the 2001 Odyssey Disco in Brooklyn, where of course the movie's big disco scenes were filmed. Big regret of mine as a Brooklyn kid not seeing any of those shows. 🎵
Let me make something perfectly clear... this whole band made this song feel and sound the way it does so all that credit for this, wouldn't be the same way without all of them.
The Happy People are right here...on this very RU-vid page! How can you not love....this music?....the beat?...the bass?.... the horn section? ....the outfits?...the dance moves?...the lead singer's face and smile when he's singing??? !!!!
This is the greatest disco song ever made... I'm not saying there hasn't been other great ones... but to me this is the greatest. Just listen to the lyrics... first time I smoked some Colombian red went to this place called mother's worry in Manhattan Kansas. Get out of the vehicle and just ran towards this music I never stopped dancing since. That Baseline is a dancers dream Groove.
I was in High School when this song came out; to me this was the epitome of the Disco sound. My favorite song by them though is "Disco Party" from the same LP
This beautiful recording makes me think of when I was young. Not that that was necessarily a great thing, But everything was happy at the disco. We met our friends. Made new friends. I'm sorry to point out that it was before AIDS... and that is why my tears fall when I hear this.
I MUST HAVE SEEN THE TRAMMPS AT LEAST 20 TIMES... AND THEY NEVER FAILED.. IT WAS BETTER EACH TIME... THANK YOU JIMMY ELLIS FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE VOICE!!!! RIP...
Those where the days!!!! At 2.30 you feel the groove!!! ...If you're open to it!!!! I...I"m 72....and my room's to freaking small to dance!! Get on down!!!
I remember seeing the Tramps, at the Someplace Else in Cherry Hill, nj, this brings a lot of good times with friends, that are no longervhere , beam me up!
My name is Deidre Williams in this song brings back so many memories when I was a little girl riding around in my father deuce and a quarter I love the trammps
