Excellent job, the way of making a hole in the suction line for the external equalizer while it was under pressure to keep it clean is awesome. Thank you
We just changed a compressor on a 5 ton single stage. On start up I had correct pressures and temps, but over the weekend, it changed, by Monday we got called back. The head was 200 psi R-22, and the lo-side 100. SL 65, LL 89. I called tech support, and he had me block off the cond. fan, to see if pressure, and amps would go up. It only went up to 225 psi, and the lo-side went to 140 psi, and the amps never changed. He condemned the compressor. I got on FB, HVAC school group, and some guys were saying this acutrol was the likely culprit, but I figured they would only restrict, not bypass?
Chris waessil yeah it seems like a issue with the compressor. You can also disconnect the blower to see if the suction pressure drops below normal. It's not the acutrol short orifice metering devices. It's a just a fixed piston in each tube. It would not raise your suction pressure.
This is awesome man. It's a pain but it you pull the panel off the opposite side on the header assembly (it's a huge panel) I found 3 or 4 U bends frosted up during a freeze test. Glad I checked, otherwise I would have just quoted the header replacement (which was restricted too) instead of a who new evap which was what they really needed.
I spoke with Trane tech support about this issue he also recommended putting on a crankcase heater if one is not on there and you have the original orifices. If carrier doesn't make it like that if you can get the right tonnage of TXV get like that it should work on the carriers to
From 1000 micron firts decayed test and should not pass 2000 microns. If so put nitrogen to 15 psi just to absorb humidity for 15minutes. Repeat the process until you pass the decay test for the 1000 microns them you take it to 500 microns and for a period of 10 minutes should not pass over a 1000 microns if so repeat the process. If you can not achieve the decay test most probably the valcores or the system has a leak. Don't panic and remember you got to 500 microns and most of the tech do not used a micron gauges and nobody is there to see if you did it. Laughs and charges the system After all it is not a refrigeration system just AC. Thanks for the video man. I have been seeing so many videos of how to do a vacuum that I got okay when I do not achieve the decay test.
How did you size your txv and cap tubes did trane give you this ? How can i get this for any unit or unit im working on different tonnage and acutra tubes i have 25 ton trane with 16 orifices.
Jacob Scyphers awesome. It's pretty easy. The instructions say to cut them off and deburr them. Then stick them in about 1 inch and crimp the pipe around them carefully. What's your email. I'll send you a PDF
If the oil is broken down enough to plug up offices, due to running high discharge temperatures, shouldn’t you have dumped the compressor and changed the oil? Why is the other compressor so rusty around the shell?
Rod Graff all good questions . Probably. The other compressor was flooding back. They had bad airflow due to bad ductwork and the wall around the units didn’t help during the summer. Especially since they never cleaned the coils.
good job great vid isnt there a restrictor( on the original ) at end of cap tube on the header would you drill or braze it out and How long did it take you to finish up total time approximately .
I thought there is a way of clearing the short orifice tubes by heating them and passing nitrogen through them, I believe Eric M has a video showing how to do it.
Capitol Refrigeration,Heating, and Cooling there is but it's not guaranteed to work. Trane actually sales an additive called mjx but they say it's for 410a only. The junk really sticks to those little orifices.
All you have to do it's get your torches tip closer to the 7 inch copper and I guarantee you it's going to make a hole in it get within a butt half an inch grommet tip to pipe
Bruce Moine whats the model number of the unit. Send me your email. I will forward you some information that I got from trane. It has the part numbers.
