Stafold Barn is a very dangerous place - I nearly lost my head last time I was there, due to the continuous rapid spinning to see what was happening over there
trains come, trains go, grand puff stays forever!, Stuart and falcon. also amazing job with the video always bringing a smile to my face in there quesibnal times.
I really need to visit Statfold Barn Railway. It's not just you tempting me either, a fellow Jenny Kirk Monday Club follower known as Warbler Productions works as a volunteer there and is always saying great things about the railway.
Thoroughly enjoying this. Only 20 mins in and I've already gone from thinking it would be quite interesting to visit Statfold Barn to being completely certain it is the best place on earth
Was there that day myself with friends. Was my first visit & loved it. In fact out ugly mugs appeared in the last shot of Rodger running round the garden railway. Thought about coming up & saying hi but I’m awkward so thought twice about it. Will defiantly be back there again & would recommend to anyone who hasn’t been
@@lmm I'll try & do a better job of kicking the social anexiety next time I'm in the same locoation. I might be, 12 hour nights that weekend but I blunced from a night shift straight to the last event
I'm very happy indeed after wacth one of our most unique industrial loco still in good condition than the rest of the industrial loco back in Indonesia. Thank you so much
A few corrections, Hastings is the oldest steamable Hunslet, Hodbarrow in the Museum is 6 years older but won’t be returned to steam. Prince was not England works number 2 (that was a road loco, but is only Ffestiniog fleet number 2 and was the third of the four small Englands to arrive after Mountaineer and Princess, he is also the oldest steam locomotive still in operation for the railway for which it was built anywhere in the world in any gauge. Next weekend sees the celebration of 150 years of the Quarry Hunslet type of loco and will see a small engine line up (with the exception of Isaac appearing) I was the duty guard on the train with Prince and Saccharine all weekend, should be in the same line next weekend and would love to say hello if you visit again. Dale Williams.
Great video, gorgeous locos 😁😁 Got one of your what's broken now shirts for fathers day, very happy with it, just gotta persuade missus and kids to get more LMM stuff as presents as birthday is looming haha keep it up.
I was there on Saturday, and met you later on! Was an incredible day with many amazing photographs, and solidified my love for narrow gauge steam. Can't wait for the Hunslet 150 event next weekend!
Also, Hastings is the oldest standard gauge Hunslet working, but the oldest working Hunslet locos are Penrhyn Port class twins, Gwynedd & Lillian, both built in 1883.
This is definitely my favourite channel on RU-vid, but why does lawrie always sound like he’s trying to reach the word count on an essay? Keep up the good work, love it.
lovely... love seeing the UK narrow gauge in action! if you can... Please find a Baldwin class 10-12-D in operation its one of the thew American manufactured locomotives in the UK...
@@lmm idk how up to date this is according to wiki ... there are 4 10-12-D surviving... No. 608, repatriated along with 44657 in 2013, currently at the Ffestiniog Railway No. 778, Leighton Buzzard Light Railway No. 794, Welsh Highland Heritage Railway Works Nos 44657 of 1916, repatriated in March 2013 by the Statfold Barn Railway with 788 and 794 operational, and 608 and the one at statfold barn under restoration...
It was lovely meeting you for the first time at this event properly and shuttling you to the balloon loop (I was your guard on the Lynton set of coaches)
@@lmm yes Lawrie it was fan -flameing tastic. hope to go again. i miss my old friend. kitchener.. Lovely work Lawrie, really enjoyable video. I am just wondering what is happening with that little secret video you tried to film over the Easter weekend, (I won't say what it is as I know you want it to be a surprise) It is just I was there and I saw you and I also the 'thing' that broke. Did you get enough footage or will you be filming it again once the fault has being sorted. Whenever it is finished, I will still be expecting an amazing video, but knowing you, and all the effort you put in for the sake of us on the internet, I'm sure you won't disappoint. The amount of work you put in to all this and all the time you spend doing this to produce such amazing content really is a testament to you. Many thanks for the upload today, and all the best.
Laurie it’s Ian want to see lots of Narrow Gauge locos Pecket ,and Garratts We have got three of them two in steam and one in our museum +5 Na,s running Plus a climax and lots of other nice diesel locomotives yours Jeff Melbourne Australia PS I would put it on your bucket list if you can and the other thing is to K-1 originally came from Tasmania which is the state of Australia
good video as always and also I do not think a garden railway would fit unless your talking about a smaller scale but anyways can't wait to see what's next from Erika
@@lmm I mean if your going for a miniature garden railway I’d like to see that tho some have done garden railways with their Hornby stuff as well so technically yes you could do a garden railway
Cegin is pronounced how its spelt, translated it basically means kitchen, but the loco was named after the Afon Cegin which was near Port Penrhyn, so makes sense since she's an ex-Penrhyn loco
You need a trip to Leeds at some point to the Middleton Railway, which is a very shirt distance from the former ebgine works, and the former John Fowler workd
@@lmm I used to live 10 mins walk away, now on the Suffolk coast, and annold mate had a garage next door to the railway at Wetheringswtt who looked after my ild classic, that he ended up buying off me.
Is it just me or do those saddletank locos Trangkil and Howard look very alike to Kerr, Stuart standard designs? I know Hunslet bought out Kerr, Stuart's designs and goodwill when they went bankrupt but did Hunslet continue to effectively build tattoo and brazil designs albeit with their own makers plates on them right up to 1971?
I think the SBR did a better job at maintaining their engines including lil' Trangkil and the other three ex-Javanese Sugar Mills, because back in Java, they were alway scovered in dust and dirty (for an engine that was built for an industrialy Mill, I should've known that)
Truly fantastic :) And you had beautiful weather too! I've said it before, and I will say it again: there is just something special about narrow gauge railways and narrow gauge equipment :)
Most (all?) the stock is fitted with a form of "chopper", very similar to that used by the FR. It's a combined buffer and coupler. The coupler is (crudely) two hooks loosely mounted on eccentric pins which have weights on them. Drop the hooks over the buffer on the other vehicle and spin the weights to close the gap. The dangling chains are there so the wagons can be coupled to stock without the chopper couplers, but with chain hooks.
give that man a boom box, to go with his out of date teen fashion from a bi gone eara. Please tell me glowing backwards facing caps are not fashionable again...
Can you please make your content inclusive and accessible to everyone by formatting the auto captioning into closed captioning please? it is very hard to enjoy your content relying on only the auto captioning sadly (I'm Profoundly Deaf) I have asked dozen of times, there is a LOTS of tutorial and help on RU-vid already, quite a handful of people even managed it within hour of posting, such as how they managed it;
Hi Lawrie I am planning on rebuilding 7927 Willington Hall and building a Completely new Hall class number 7928 Harvington Hall and building two Bulleid pacific 4-6-2 locomotives Battle of Britain class number 34111 Neville Chamberlain and a West Country Class No.34112 named "SEVERN VALLEY" and I also Plan to purchase four German Steam locomotives One named Deefer and one named KIA and one named Lexi and one named Cicada three of the four German Steam Locomotives are going to be named after Family Pets and the The Whistle on Cicada is going to be louder the union pacific Big boy 4014's Whistle and you will be able to hear Cicadas Whistle from Birmingham that's how loud it is also Cicada and KIA and Deefer and Lexi may well be Touring around Belgium,France and Germany and Austria and Switzerland and Sweden and I may take Cicada to the USA to Meet Big Boy and so you never know Cicada May thunder down your Local railroad/Railway line Double heading with 4014 Big Boy and Cicada is going to be a 2-10-0 but I might modify the Wheel arrangement so instead of being a 2-10-0 she will be be a 4-12-0 But I may have a few issues with weight distribution and traction but who knows it may end up going well for me. Take care. Cheers. Lewis
Why would you want to new build a Hall or a Southern Pacific? We have more of them kicking about in preservation than anything else! I would highly recommend joining the groups who own the existing engines and putting some of the millions into keeping them running, they'd certainly appreciate it!
@@lmm That's a good idea But I wanted to Rebuild Willington Hall and build two Bulleid pacifics and build a Hall class Because it gives me something to do and at the same time enthusiasts can get Great pictures of Willington Hall and Harvington Hall and Battle of Britain class number 34111 Neville Chamberlain and West Country Class No.34112 "SEVERN VALLEY" also I have been wanting to Rebuild No.7927 Willington Hall and build No.7928 Harvington Hall and two Bulleid pacific 4-6-2 locomotives For a few years now and seeing Taw Valley Double heading with No.34112 "SEVERN VALLEY" will be a unique sight as No.34112 "SEVERN VALLEY" is named after The Severn Valley Railway and the Names of the Two Halls and Bulleid pacifics will be unveiled by My Grandad Called Ronald Cartwright or Ron Cartwright but your idea is a good idea. Take care Lawrie. Cheers.Lewis.👍
@@lewiscartwright3609 I think enthusiasts would rather see the locomotives that need help and support being given money. I also rather suspect that SVR wouldn't give permission for their name to be used on something that isn't under their control. I suggest supporting one of the 20 West countries and Bob's that need your support, and they all have enough going on to give you something to do, rather than recreating more members of one of the most numerous classes in preservation.
@@lmm That's a Valid point I will figure something out and see where it Takes me but there is only one way to know if something will work and that is to try and attempt it and if it goes pear shaped you can always try to avoid the idea and think of a new idea but the idea I had was worth a try. Take care Lawrie. Cheers.Lewis 👍
