I think you have managed to capture the mood of this train travel. No voiceover, only captions and the sound of train. It's really pleasant and feels like travelling, not like a show. Really good! I wish I could take this trip once myself.

It's amazing how much some of this looks like Amtrak's western long-distance routes. Not fast, just plodding along through forests and mountains. If it wasn't for the electrification, you could swear you were in Montana or eastern Washington.

Certainly interesting---and L O N G!! Why did you choose 2nd class rather than 1st? Sharing with three other passengers seems to make it quite cramped. Coaches seem old---and maybe in need of attention? I can understand doing the full trip just for the sake of doing it but I doubt that I would be equally attracted! Watching the video, nah.....actually living my dream. Super fantastic compilation with excellent complementary information and trivia. Super job. One question regarding the low average speed of the train. Is it because there is no one behind you to make you go faster and hence just trot along your way. Of course the stations seems to be quite close to each other, and is that the reason for not really able to notch high speeds as you’d soon have to decelerate and stop. Any one can throw some light. Love and Respects from an India Rail Fan.
@anatolyi.8009

This is more fascinating than I thought it would be! I encountered part 4 and realized that I just had to watch all of it. The scenery is awesome. All those communities dependent on the railroad and the integrity of that overhead electric line, yet some supporting poles leaning precariously. (I'm not convinced by Mr. Vladimir's explanation below.) I'm surprised that it's not one government-run line, but rather operated by several different companies - necessitating several train changes.
@kosmosyche
@kosmosyche 5 лет назад
I'm afraid, you are misinformed. Of course, this is one government-run line (РЖД or Russian Railways with all its' numerous subsidieries) and there is no necessity in changing trains at all, there are direct trains from Vladivostok to Moscow going daily (and sometimes twice a day). You can ask the author why he has chosen to do so many train changes, but it certainly wasn't necessary.
@doc7austin

well; a traveller wants to explore the cities along the line; moreover, staying in a hotel after a one or two-day rail journey is advisable

what is changed several times are the locomotives; each locomotive is only running within its own railway administration zone (albeit going to the first or last station of a neighbouring zone)

Hi again with a few more questions ... ! The weather looked not to bad with above average temperatures ? In the winter what would be "average" temperatures in part 1 & 2 outside The days must really be short?? Does the inside of the train stay warm or does it get chilly? It looks like the "ground crews " do a good job of watering all of the passenger cars at all of the "major " stops... The food looked good to me in the diner...:) I'm just at 20:037 so far. Really enjoying the trip so far !!! :):):)
@doc7austin
@doc7austin 5 лет назад
I've made the trip in early November; Temperatures are still bearable (approx. 25F); Yes, during the heating season (October - April) you'll never freeze inside of your compartment; Most cars have electric heating and a coal heater as backup; Most often, it is often too hot and stuffy inside the car; The logistics around those passenger trains is very stable, hence, they should always be enough water available in the toilet, except a passenger is misusing the toilet;
@Nahal0nok
@Nahal0nok 5 лет назад
Usually on the trains of northern Mordor there is a “captain” of the train, he is usually called the “train leader”. He is responsible for the work of the Stuarts, good living conditions in the car, communication with the locomotive crew or train police in the regions. If something does not suit you can talk to him, but he is not an almighty person.

@KVentz
@KVentz 3 года назад
-60 could be in January, the coldest month. And this is not the lowest. The Oymyakon rural locality in Sakha Republic in Russia is he coldest permanently inhabited settlement on Earth. The lowest record is −67,7°C. Normal diesel freezes at -35°C, petrol freezes at -72°C. They keep vehicles in warm garages or do not stop engines at all because stoping engine at such low temperature causes death to it immediately. Most of the minerals are mined in such conditions in Russia. Moreover there is the eternal Frost - all the soil is just a frosted swamp that never melts even in summer. But if you going to build something on it, it starts melting under the basement, and the building collapses. So they have to build huge basements on piles and always keep the soil frosted. If the global warming will continue, the eternal Frost will start melting and all roads, railroads, oil and gas pipes at north areas will collapse.
