I could watch him all day and sometimes do for hours. I'm 82 and have loved ballet since I can remember. I've even been to the Bolshoi...this artists athletic grace and expression is simply beyond any other dancer I've ever seen. Emense talent...Life must have demanded so much of him, his own hopes lost in a fog. I"m so thrilled he has love and family....and I will watch him for hours and hours. I'm glad he was here on earth the same time I was. Thank you Sergei Z!!!

seigei is a master at expressing pathos. His dancing is sublime, hopefully someday he will experiences bliss and transcendental joy this would raise his dance expression to an even higher level
Yes ! He cannot continue to express only those lost and desesperate feelings. I hope, he plays it, but with time it's a bit sad to watch. i also don't like much the mix he makes beetween classic and modern : i see oftn lose steps true the stage with a few difficult classical jumps and turns... and sometimes the "inbetween moves (the lose steps like "drunk") looks a little bit unprepared. it#s more ballet elements from an experimented ballet dancer in a modern pieces (with simple moderne moves or "every day" moves... it maybe could be more ... "a profond mix from moderne technique and expression, bossted from the strenght of a ballet body..." Maybe i could hire somebody like Sylvie Guilhelm to coach him (Well, anyway he has good choregraphs too, with little red etc. The only moderne piece i really admired was "masterpiece". The modern part was strong and didn't look like "by chance" steps. all techniques were like just one. In the others, like this video, hee seems a little bit heavy and tired, or not so professional like in his big ballet time. More like an hobby dancer to me, i don't know why. Maybe he has to become a little bit more professional in moderne dance too ? (Or not ... he said, he isn't a moderne dancer, he believes in Ballet. Well, why not, then it is his special Style, then.) Well, it is only sometimes. I was desaponted a few times, but in other performances, you can see, he can stil really beautifully and powerful dance ! jus not always. Anyway, i understand his way and i enjoy to see him happy with his new life and new kind of performing, his team and his projects.
Yes; so punctual, determined yet soft and subtle in coreographed productions with smaller troups, while these solos start to look all like a derivative from 'Take me to church' routine, and he does them on various other numbers/songs, sometimes without real synchronicity with the numbers meaning, rythm or timing. While he is ALWAYS glorious to look at, and by his own addmission does not care too much about the strict structure but rather the 'energy' that he emanates, the final effect or 'product' if you will is at times not at pair with his full potential.

You are so right Celeste. Born with the perfect ballet physique, he's got everything else to go with that. Most dancers excel at one or two things, but he's got it all at once! One thing I marvel at about him, is that he does it all to the left. He's a lefty. Ballet dancers MUST learn to do everything on both sides, ideally with no visible difference in technique. Most prefer the right side. But he, when given a choice, prefers left. Not a big deal to the world, but a very different point of view to a dance person who's used to seeing everything to the right.

Por separado funcionarían bien, es decir Sergi simplemente magnífico, pena no verle en directo para saborear lo que transmite a la par que disfrutar de su talento único corporal, de figuras, y movimientos que propone dando la posibilidad de mimetizarse con el en la trascendencia, cosa que consigue David en sus planos llevándote junto con Sergi y la música a la noche oscura del alma. Debo estar totalmente de acuerdo contigo, en mi opinión es una lástima y una vergüenza que no existan más videos de alta calidad de Sergei. El talento es fugaz y me temo que hemos perdido mucho de lo que podría haberse conservado de un cometa tan brillante como un bailarín como Sergei. Nunca se le debería haber permitido pisar el escenario sin que se haya registrado para que toda la historia lo aprecie. Gracias por mirar y por escribir.

En este montaje en concreto es que no soporto que la cámara se centre en medios planos y venga a dar vueltas, y no se centre verdaderamente en la trascendencia, en serio cuando veo estas cosas quiero hacerme directora, aprender inglés e ir donde Sergei y decirle, dale! Haz tu arte que me aseguro que se vea😂😂😂💫💫💫💫
O M G, *no words. He is able to express ALL of his (and ours too) soul in his dance. There are so many moments in which he fluently ‘falls’ and gets up like water, no resistance. In myself l go ‘WHAT did he just do’???’ and wondering why he didn’t injure himself O M G
Of course, there is no body as expressive as Sergei’s. But I feel- somewhat- as if this is Take Me to Church all over again- that Sergei may be getting trapped in his own self- portrait of tortured artist. I see this performance as of a piece with TMTC, but that was 2015. This is 2020- Sergei must evolve, try out new self- representations. I’m thinking of a sort of Cyrano de Bergerac tragi- comedic role- why not try to bring back Vladimir Vasiliev’s “ Paganini”? Just a thought. Artists must continue to self- fashion!

In nearly all his work there is alot of expression and speaks of pain almost torment but also depth and insight . All conveyed through his movements. His rebellious spirit is nearly always there in each dance. He puts himself in the centre of his dancing which for me is the sign of an artist.

@@catherinecozzano2580 yes, what I do started out as self therapy for my suffering withdrawal from 30+ years of performing/choreographing/teaching ballet. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's the summer of 2016 and while I had no plans to retire, the decision was no longer mine to make. Parkinson's stole ballet from me, and it was devastating. Long story short, although it may already be too late to say that lol, I wandered into a video editor on my computer one day and found that it worked a lot like the music editor I had used for years. About the same time I discovered Sergei and as a release for my pent up anguish and need to "create" I started playing with various video clips I came across on the internet. It became a fascination as to how changing the music on a piece could completely change the nature, tone, perception, whatever, of the choreography! I felt as though I was still "choreographing" ...just now with pixels instead of people lol. I started out making what I thought were silly little videos just for fun, just for my own enjoyment/therapy. I was floored when other people started watching them too!!! Like, WOW!! Never thought that would happen lol. So, yes, there was different music to this dance. Originally Sergei danced to a song by a Russian pop star. I was not a fan lol, so I played around with it and the result is what you see here. When I can find the link to the original I'll send it to you. I've misplaced it at the moment. Sorry to go on so when all you did was ask a simple question, but there is a story behind what I do, and sometimes it helps to "talk" about it. Pam Boehme Simon wow thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my question and also give me all the details about your creation. I’m sorry to hear about the terrible ordeal you had to go through with this Parkinson diagnosis. I understand what it means to you as a former dancer and choreographer to do these videos. I myself was crazy about dancing when I was young and practiced ballet classes for 10 years. But at some point I had to make a choice between dancing and studying and I gave up dancing which was quite painful at the time (I’m 74 now). But I’ve always kept a deep interest for dancing as a spectator and I often go to shows of various companies (I live in Paris, France). So I greatly appreciate your work and really enjoy watching your videos even more so now that I know the context. Where is he living now? Did Alina have their child yet? I have watched all the videos on him including the ones in Russian, which I don't speak!!! I have been looking out for his development since his disaster with the Royal Ballet, tattoos, etc. Dancer blew me away...I passed it on to everyone who would ;isten!!!
I don't think he "lives" anywhere... seems to be nomadic. However, the couple did hole up in Miami for the birth of their son, Mir, in January. Mir means "peace." He appears to be serenely happy with fatherhood. He has longed for a family unit to belong to for many, many years.
@@PamBoehmeSimon I know and hope his family hurt is improving and this new family will somehow give him satisfaction for this new stage of life...he has sacrificed and given so much to the world. Would you know if he follows you? I want him to see people supporting him rather that criticizing him and his tattoos.
