With the 72 likes this comment has, this confirms what I thought. Most non-instrumental people just see him sticking out his tongue, whereas the instrumentalists see him wetting his lips so they don't crack and bleed with how god tier this man was playing.
Being a trumpet player, I know from experience that breaks are always appreciated. (For those who don’t know, spit will occasionally gather inside your mouthpiece {usually when playing difficult or high intensity parts} and make it difficult to play certain rhythms/ notes. Ya gotta take a break and use your sleeve/ shirt to dry out your mouthpiece and wipe off your lips every now and then so you can actually play 😂😂😂) It’s also nice to be able to empty your spit valve once in a while 🤪🤪
@@lillianriley6741 I actually like the spit there, it's like a natural lubricant cause I'm always so dehydrated, also the slide full of spit helps make the sound more crisp
Idk why, the sac player has more talent than I could ever dream of ascertaining, but it’s just not the same as it used to be. You guys are killing it seriously!! Keep it up, but it was just...different back then

Yeah, this can happen, especially if there is a trumpet player in the band, they can pressure you into sounding like a lower trumpet instead of the more lyrical nature of the trombone.

Man I’m pretty good at playing instruments but I played the trombone for 7 years and never got even close to that good. And I knew my stuff maybe just didn’t give it enough lol
