These fingers you speak of are the same way the blend door actuators calibrate and read the position. GM uses this in multiple applications.

Torque specs for 15mm. Taken from the manual. "Replace the three 15mm bolts, and torque them to 15 foot-pounds. Torque the top bolt first, then the bottom, then the middle."

Very nice. I’m glad to see someone put out a detailed video describing the disassembly and reassembly of this unit along with the components and possible failures.

Very useful today. One bolt was broken, one bolt I broke, I had to pound all over the unit prying it apart. Once it gave the inside gears popped out of position. There is a point where reviewing this video was needed. Thanks. Service 4wd message has left and everything is shifting and seems fine... for now

Just did this and still have no power to my 4wd selector switch inside. No service 4wd lights or any of the 4wd indicator lights either. I replaced the 4wd actuator, sensor, 4wd switch and ensured that all of the grounds are clean and the wiring is in good shape. I am stumped

Check the two ground wires on the frame below the driver's side foot area. The entire encoder system grounds here.

Not sure what year your GMT800 is but mine is an 02 and the shift motor is sealed shut with what appears to be silicone. No way to split it open

That means someone messed with it. GM never did that from the factory. Maybe who was ever working on it lost all the screws, and did that just to keep it together

Huge thanks. For this job was your transfer case actuator humming as if it was trying to shift but wouldn’t change gear? That’s the issue I’m having and I can’t afford to get the part wribg

I noticed you did not get a reply, answering your question. My transfer case actuator is making a buzzing noise like you described and will not shift out of 4hi, and into 2hi. Was wondering what the fix was for yours

That’s called a slip ring.

how can I test the actual motor itself? the red and black turn the motor forward and reverse when change the polarity. orange and tan do nothing. also can i test the tccm? thanks

Sorry, that’s above my pay grade.

Did you have to reflash the module? My Truck stuck in 4wd. Goes in 4wd when I park it but now can’t get out. Code C0327- encoder circuit. Was gonna get a used motor but if can change encoder without flashing will do that. Also hate you say Arange instead of Orange lol
@WhatIsKenDoing
@WhatIsKenDoing 3 года назад
BraaapAllDay no flashing. Just pull the motor out, take your time, pay attention to details and stick the new sensor in. Easy peasy.

what was the symptom? I have my motor humming when I try switching gears but it doesn't turn, motor is brand new from Ebay. It doesn't produce any codes either

In my case, the T Case motor would randomly put the truck in low 4wd or it wouldn’t allow me to select what range i wanted.

I'm having issues with the transfer case not engaging into 4wh low and 4wh-hi. Before I go and buy parts, could it be simply the transfer case motor sensor and not the solenoid itself or is the assumption I described exactly related to the solenoid/actuator broken down? Also, would changing the old throttle position sensor on the engine help correct the shifting out of gear two into three without sticking in 2 and high- revving the engine help? currently i have to build up speed from a stop and let off the throttle after I reach about 20 mph and between 20-2500 rpm. Then the rpm needle goes to 1500 and engages into third and I can go but I still can't hammer down. I'm wondering if the tps is going bad and there's a miscommunicationout of synch between the throttle position and my transmission or transfer case motor . Or could a dirty transmission filter cause shifting delays and sticking gear issues? Improper hydraulic pressure? Bad gear shifting solenoids? Fuel filter clogged? Fuel pump?

quick question, right below the electronic motor cable, you can see a black washer by itself, where does it go?
@WhatIsKenDoing
@WhatIsKenDoing 3 года назад
alex green are you talking about the black wave washer that is about 2”?
@alexgreen121
@alexgreen121 3 года назад
@@WhatIsKenDoing I don't know the name of it, but if you got to minute 3:27 you can see it there, its laying up right on the cable, the one that looks like it has black shrink wrap.

@@alexgreen121 I see what you're talking about. It honestly looks like it's supposed to go over the gear it's next to. I can't really think of anywhere else or how it would've gotten there to begin with. I haven't taken mine apart yet though so I'm just throwing an observation out there.

What year is your vehicle?
@WhatIsKenDoing

2005 but I’m pretty sure all 99-07s with the electric motor are the same.
@connorpoore3043
@connorpoore3043 2 года назад
They're not the same. The 2000-2002 have a rectangle spindle connection and different case shape than the 2003-2006. The motor is essentially the same, but they are not interchangeable.
@kdlittlehawk

@@WhatIsKenDoing INCORRECT ! only 2003 and up are the same. I have a Chevy Av 20002 and its different, this part number you posted in your vid will NOT work.
@kdlittlehawk
@kdlittlehawk Год назад
@@connorpoore3043 I am having no luck finding the proper ring sensor for my 2002 Chevy Av. They sell the entire encoder motor assy but not just the ring. Do you have any leads for me, everywhere I look I come up empty.
