Yeah!! There is a lot you can try with this, remember just to use plenty of mod podge to thoroughly cover it so you don't get cloudy spots like I did lol
Well, this IS exciting!!! I'm as excited as YOU!!! I'm watching #2 now. I was thinking: Because peeling off is so important to start, I was thinking, if you put a small piece of plastic on corner, hanging off edge, maybe that would help to start the peel. How about stamping, or writing on bag? Also, I think it would give stability to lace if you used lace instead of napkin??? Anyway,...keep experimenting. Its fun and a good way to clear your head from making journals!!! Some times my eyes just go buggy! See ya later Wendy!!! Austin, TX USA
While it's still wet, use a stiffish painting brush, and go around all the edges and gently wrinkle the edges up, just a tiny bit. So the edges are well covered in glue, but have a slight roll on them. When it's dry, you can more easily lift it off the backing. Info courtesy of another RU-vidr @ Treasure Books. Really helps. Also the dried glue around the edges of the napkin, can be carefully pulled off. Or cut off.
Glue and paint are just plastics so this is just adding a plastic coating to the napkin-it's essentially an acrylic skin. Clever use of a napkin-it not only looks much cooler by making it translucent but it makes it so much more functional in a journal. Thanks for sharing.
Absolute genius!!! Thanks for sharing the idea. Ps. You sound just like my aunty, even your lovely infectious laughter...my entire family thinks so too...you're cool 👍🏾
I recently started play with pva 2 /3 and 1/3water. With tea bags and napkins. I used 1 and 2 ply napkins. I decided the finished product was too brittle. So i added a layer of silk or cheese cloth. I do on silicone bake sheet. Its a more sturdy version of yours. But i love your idea. I may try it when get mod podge. I use glue down, opened tea bag down, glue, silk, glue, napkin, glue.let dry. Im just experimenting. But i was so shocked at results. I started make small sketchs on tissue paper or fresh tea bags. And preserved image this way. Im sure if gets wet, will become glue.ive resealed a few brittle ones with added silk layer. To make more pliable. Thank you for video. My ratios may be off for what really works. I only make 1/4 cup at a time pva, with 1 tbsp water. But it gave me a new way to do a piece of art that i enjoy doing. I put the images over top my envelope journal. They a solid, napkin art, image to go over a matching napkin glued to card stock.i love it. Then, i clipped it on edges with memo clips. Lol my first try at a 3 envelope folder type journal. Take care.this is not a smooth finished product. It is a bit crinkled from shrinkage, 1 ply napkin is clear background. 2 ply is a light tint of background but helps image stand out. Take care.
Awesome I am glad you are experimenting I was trying a glue and water mixture but my ratios were off and I kept making a mess I finally switched to tissue paper some of it the dye actually bleeds color and makes some really cool effects.
WHAT A FABULOUS HAPPY ACCIDENT, SO USEFUL LIKE THAT. THAT LOOKS AND I GUESS FEELS SO LOVELY. THANKS FOR SHARING. 💜 HORIZONTAL CRAFTER CAMILLE AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺🐨
Wow!! This is the best way to make faux vellum ever! I was making what I call glue paper which I printed on to get this same effect. It was a tedious messy process that I really hated to bother with. It took hours! This is a game changer for me! I am trying it out as I typ e this. Instead of a plastic bag, I used a dollar tree dinner mat but everything else the same. I know this will work!! So simple, yet brilliant! Great discovery! Thanks!
So glad you you found a new way! I started using the plastic mats from dollar tree as well the plastic bag drove me crazy!!! Have fun and thanks for watching.
Hiii Wendy!!! I saw this trick of yours a couple of days ago... meanwhile i have tried it out and.. its awesome!!!!! So clever and i jave this really cool see through sturdy material with lovely print 🥰😍🥰 i have tonsssss of napkins.. so ill be busy the coming time.. lucky my holiday starts in week :) thank you!
So glad it is working for you!! I have been trying to do layers and use it like resin to layer paper flowers and things, still need some tweaking but its fun! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching here is Part 2 I experimented and it actually goes up to a Part 4 LOL ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RF3YjCCNH_g.html
That’s so cool! Thank you for sharing this new discovery to exploring this new experiment with us! I was referred from 49dragonflies to share this cool idea to use on junk journal. I just subscribed. I hope to see more of your vudeos! Happy crafting!
I, too, discovered you and was told of your wonderful discovery by 49dragonflies. Wow! What a great thing you've done! Keep your wonderfulness coming! Thanks soooo much!
Yeah I tried to modpodge a napkin on my ziplock bag and then I needed to fix it then realized I could peel it off it blew my mind!! after I videod it someone mentioned that this was an old trick LOL I was like where the heck was I at totally missed it.
@@Black_fox302 that is cool, I think I am gonna try to write words with my markers or maybe colored pencils on the plastic itself and see what it does... there is so many possibilities!!
thank you wendy for this fun idea! i would love to use it! i have a youtube channel and i would like to use your inspiration in a future video....adding your link at the bottom of the video...giving you credit for the inspiration....would that be okay with you? thank you in advance! lorrimarie
I would think so any plastic, just don't put it over any type of logo that is on the bag or it will peel up with the napkin!! Thanks for watching and good luck!! It is really fun.
