Transform Skyrim With 40 Mods or Less! 

i like these mods and all, but i mostly like performance, meaning many of these mods i probably won't be running very well on my system since i care more about how well my game runs over what it looks like, even with the mods that allow me to uncap my fps over 60, because for me, performance is king. instead i use maybe Skyshade II ReShade it's not ENB but it uses ENBOOST but not really an ENB but it looks like i'm using one, it's just a bit more fantasy looking though, i don't care much about the food being higher textures because it's something i only look at in my menu's and don't care about that much anyway. the mods i really love are the ones that make the game better in functionality over textures because they actually add content that i enjoy outside of it's looks, but they are usually pretty script heavy which is why i talked about performance being my top priority, i also take advantage of ini tweaks

@@user-tp5yb4hr4w Script heavy mods are gonna tank your performance long before texture mods do. It's tough to fill up vram unless you're adding in un-optimized meshes and 8k+ textures.

@@The-Skyking your correct to an extent, i try not to use to many script heavy mods at a time, even though they are always the most impactful. i will have to upgrade my machine if i want it to handle more. anyway, there is a mod which i forgot the name of at the moment that allows skyrim to play at much higher framerates and it pretty much disables the old havoc system in the game so your fps can go up to 100 if you want and without the NPC flying issues lol, but depending on the mods you have, it will run much smoother.

@@The-Skyking holy shit, i just realized that i have been modding my skyrim since we started this conversation today. i'm setting up a lot all at once, it's been difficult though, because of all the incompatibilities of mods and different skyrim versions, i mean i had to downgrade my skyrim version to 1.5.97 then find all the mods that work with that, then i ran into a few snags because some modders no longer support that skyrim version, even though other mods that require that mod require you have that skyrim version lol, then i had to do some complicated google searches to find if there was some kind archived version of such mod because the mod author decided to make things difficult on their page by hiding the link for some reason. i have forgotten just how annoying skyrim modding can be as it's been a long while for me building an entire load order as my PC was out of commission for a few months over some stupid issue that windows update caused and i just found what the problem was and fixed it, it was making it impossible to play any game for longer than 15 minutes at a time before it caused my pc to restart while i played, windows screwed with the power settings and that's where the issue was.

Mod authors flip out at anything approaching this. They don't get paid so it's all about ego for them so they really really want you to have to go their page and read the thing for each and every download and that would skip that.

@@JamesMadisonsSpiritAnimal As a mod author, they want you to read everything, because you may actually miss some critical info that could affect the performance of your game. If it was about their ego, they wouldn't make mods at all. Especially not for chump change. Without mod authors and their mods, mod lists wouldn't even exist.

@@quickfactsanimals No mod authors have huge egos, Enaisiaon and arthmoor spring to mine as absolute fucking basket cases. What you've said sounds nice but really you're giving them too much credit, remember the crybaby meltdown over the collections feature nexus was introducing? It wasn't even about money it was literally "You're listing my mod in your collection without permission waaaaaaah waaaaaaaaaah waaaaaaaah". I will never give money to modders for this reason alone, i used to donate a lot because i felt it was going to good people. That day was a huge mask off for all involved, i will never donate now even if you're good because i dunno what happens when the day comes and you decide you're going to be a prissy little bitch over something that doesn't affect you. Fuck em.

@@robhaney8568 Discord. All texture mods work with JK as they have no relation to each other. It's a running joke. Don't ask if JK is compatible or you'll get flamed. Like I said, it's a running joke.

@@robhaney8568 Sounds like missing hair mod requirement. Make sure to read the requirements. I often forget to and then wonder why my game crashes or it doesn't look right.

I love rustic and it's preset mod. It's amazing and I used to for a long time before using an enb. It's a great system for those that don't want an enb or can't run one.

Try Community Shaders combined with Vanilla HDR. I use those in conjunction with Rustic Weathers, Skyland AIO, Skyland Bobs and Clutters, Embers XD, and ELFX. The results are amazing.

Oh absolutely and it's almost like vanilla+ kind of mods. It doesn't go too far off base of what the game is supposed to look like.

i was once a vanilla only type, but that was mostly due to the idea that i didn't understand modding my game and i was simply not patient enough to learn, now here i am roughly a decade later and i know a shit load more, but i still view myself as a novice in modding, i have a hard time figuring out animation mods that use nemesis or FNIS or physic's mods, sadly these are the mods i want the most, but i'm limited due to the circumstances of my knowledge base.

No clue tbh. I don't even own an xbox and with all the "bundles" out there for xbox, I don't know and it's so confusing. I feel bad for xbox players. I'm sure our Xbox pro's on the discord can help.

Yeah I have 150 mods too and I'd say roughly half of them are compatibility patches. Mod counts can be misleading. Best thing to do is watch videos like this and just pick and choose the ones you want and ignore the rest. Like a salad bar in a buffet.

@@veteran0121 I did this taught me to look more closely at AIO bundles and not only simply things combatibilty wise such as bella beauty bundle does what 6 skin eyes etc mods does in one just an example but it really cuts down on patches too.

Good question. Noble does a lot of clutter and stuff. Many people install Noble and then put Skyland over it.

@@The-Skyking That's the approach I've settled on. At this point I can't tell what is contributing to what. But at the end of the day I've had Noble in my load order since it released so I may as well keep it there!

Well, you could get super close on xbox. Just no ENB. But with Busty Skeevers and the in-game obsidian menu, you'd get close.

Nice suggestions. Do you get tired of Ordinator? I hear some people get exhausted by how extensive it is.

@@The-Skyking Well if you wanna play a jack of all trades it is definitely overwhelming, mostly bcs vanilla leveling system is too easy to break and be overleveled and then it seems to have a mountain of content from ordinator when you're already at "endgame stats". For that people might wanna get the "Experience" mod or another leveling/xp overhaul. But I usually roleplay, so it's pretty easy to tunnel vision and only get perks that makes sense instead of being overwhelmed. Ordinator is so much fun, almost every perk has a different quirk or a new way to approach the gameplay. The Heavy armor ones are pretty cool, there's a perk that makes lower level enemies run in fear if u walk up to them slowly(unpractical to have your prey run away, but it's goddamn badass), there's the Vancian mage which uses no magicka but instead uses daily charges(casts), like good old CRPG mage subclasses. In conclusion I think people have this obsession with 100%ing every save and that's why they get overwhelmed. If I'm not mistaken the author Enaisiaion had some drama a handful of years ago and some people dislike him and shame his mods. Gotta detach artist from art, Ordinator is really enjoyable. Well it seems youtube deleted a comment with a link I posted, but basically I remembered a mod called "IMAGINATOR" which is an alternative to enb, extremely lightweight and customizable in game.

@@hattron6704 Couple of great points you made. One being that Ordinator overwhelmed people that want to 100% every skill. That makes total sense and hadn't thought of that. And secondly, yes. You have to separate art from artist. I don't do it with all of them, but a lot of them.

Yes, I believe it is for the most part. But every load order is different. So I'd safely say, in general, yes.

Not really, It just cost performance for something you'll barely notice on 1080p. I would stick to around 1k or 2k if possible depending on your taste.

You can absolutely tell the difference on large things like mountains etc. On something small like an apple no theres no point.

also 1080p screen is irrelevant when it comes to texture size in skyrim.

​@The Skyking Stream Pi Cho is my go to. Many different presets for different weathers and an endless amount of color combinations with the many LUT selections

I've talked with that mod author a lot over the years, and Azurite is good. But there are some lighting issues along with how bright the nights are, that I just don't use it. I told him that when he asked me to test Azurite before it was released and he agreed, but it's a nice fantasy look. I'm just not much for total fantasy. Same reason I don't use Cathedral. Obisdian is much more cinematic and toned down and I can get the nights to sit right with any ENB.

Yeah. Xbox users on the discord have made their own versions for xbox and share them there.

That's a good call. But if I remember when I used it, it didn't include visual overhauls. Like new textures for arch, land, clothes, weapons, npc's and stuff.

@@The-Skyking Right. I use it as one of my overhauls, I use every mod you mentioned, though Skyland is my base mod. I build on top of that quite a bit. Good video for the new Skyrim players. BTW, there is an updated version of Wizkids signs, forgot what its called but he used Base Object Swapper, and the signs look updated, but that may be just my imagination.

I 100% agree. I can understand wanting a dark souls load order or just anime the F out of your game. But if you just want to revamp the whole game and play the Skyrim that is intended, then I prefer these kinds of mods and build from here.

@@The-Skyking I've been building my mod list for about 2 months piece by piece, currently playing FO4. I recently tested a mod for this game and the author taught me that I don't need 125632 mods for a good game. When I start playing Skyrim it will probably be with a minimal mod list since I have the AE version, to be honest I've been saving this video for the future as a baseline. That mix of Dark Souls and anime you mentioned fits Skyrim like white pajamas on Blade and yet I see it everywhere. I like to watch modding videos of RU-vidrs, I learn a lot from them, but sometimes I have the urge to scratch my eyes out of my skull.

That's something I want to focus on in the future. Do you have any suggestions or favorites?
