I worked for an artisan custom woodworker for several years. I watch a fair amount of woodworking videos, but your skill level is unmatched.. Watching the custom entrance you recently finished is truly a work of art. We all do what we can with what we have, however your commitment to the artistry of joinery and custom work is truly an inspiration. My friend (I used to work for) is now teaching wood carving in Minnesota USA and that has been his love since day one. I am a counselor but long to return to the wood shop in semi-retirement to make heirloom pieces for whoever would have them. Never loose your love for the craft and artistry.

Plywood is a good material for the carcass or frame. Using single cuts if wood for the exterior then is a great choice.

Great treat to start the weekend off, another great video! I like you how start your cabinet builds by building the face frame first. Every video I have ever watched that involves cabinet builds, the face frame is always built after they have built the carcass. You approach makes much more sense to me. Great work and looking forward to the next fine instalment!!👍👍

I mistakenly thought this episode wouldn't be very helpful for me but once again you proved me wrong. I am going to try metric and get me one of those layout tapes, and the quest is on to find one of those small piece holders. Normally I would use my hand but I'm getting older and now realize I'm not indestructible. Although I've never seriously cut myself, I did however pin my fingers together with nail guns on more than one occasion. Nothing tape and toilet paper couldn't fix.

haha, a few helpful folk have commented the small piece jig is a aigner brand item, have a look through the comments

The jig you used for the small items is an Aigner Clamp Strip. It is the Fritz and Franz solution for spindle moulders.

I'm looking all over for your video on removing excess caulk. After you applied it, you sprayed something over the excess caulk then removed it without leaving a mess of caulk on each side of the joint.

amzn.to/3Wc8BCX its for MS Polymer type adhesive sealant or any solvent based product, the spray is just general IPA Isopropylalcohol. It wont work very well for waterbourne products.

I'll definitely be back for the next episode. :-) Two comments: * I loved the insight into your marking up process, especially the details of the specific marks, how they relate to each other, etc. I haven't seen anyone else provide much in the way of explanations there. (Maybe I'm not seeing the right videos...) * Have you ever talked in detail about why you use polyurethane glue, instead of a PVA glue (like Titebond in the US)? It seems like all I ever see other woodworkers use is PVA wood glue. Perhaps that's a difference between dedicated furniture making, and the kind of work you do, where there are many more structural elements?
@BradshawJoinery
@BradshawJoinery 26 дней назад
Thanks Michael i appreciate you saying. Probably because to mark out properly you need to know the processes of what you are about to do inside out, and most ive watched on youtube are winging it at best, not all though. I havent made a video on it, but its just great strong adhesive, simple to apply and its quick. really quick. Cheap too. A £10 tube goes alot further than £10 tub of titebond

Trens support the channel so I didn't pay for it, but I always use it for dusting down the workshop or changing extractor bags now, as it stops the dust getting in your eyes and lungs. The big benefit being the eyes as you don't go home everyday with sore eyes. But it's really expensive and I couldn't wear it as a dust mask for over half hour I don't think. I'd say worth it for the health benefits if you have the cash for how I use it but it won't replace a daily wear dust mask

I just run a 3 1/4 hp router in my expensive Infinity table to make my stick & cope doors. I probably should just get a proper Shaper ? Truthfully they are unforgiving and nasty if fed wrong ! That has been thee hold off ? But it’s time ! Esp if I am planing to do solid wood cabinets such as those ! I hv done them but so often ppl see the price tag and say nice ply is fine skip the solid wood !

at 5'10, the thing you are using is a spannlade (the german name for it). And the manufacturer is Aigner. I guess that DBGM is a reseller that put his name on it. This is a super reliable jig. You can also look at their safety fence for the spindle moulder, it's really nice to use.
