This series, especially Generation 1, will always be the bar for 80s cartoons. The heavy metal version of the theme done by Lion for 1986's Transformer The Movie is still metal AF till this day and set the tone for the entire film.

What a freaking awesome cartoon transformers was I mean the '80s just had like the best cartoons and the early '90s too but man those eighties were amazing I'm glad I grew up in that time.

The series that spawned a multi billion empire for Hasbro, and in turn has the hearts and minds of kids and adults alike all across the planet. I'm glad you folks are covering Transformers content recently: And as a general Transformers Fan, this is very nice. I mean, C'mon it very much wiped the floor with it's competitors (and still does to this day) well that, and perhaps it's most famous for animation errors and absolutely gorgeous box art.

Transformers 1984 series was Awesome!!

I watched the series back in 2009 here in Brazil, i was 7 years old . This series was the best stuff i've seen as a kid. my mom bought a dvd of the first season and boy i became a fan ever since , this series was one of the best franchise ever made. I began to see the series, movies and comics.

G1 Transformer fan right here! I take that series as the foundational cannon over comics - comics have a problem of having multiple authors, interpretations which can result in so many convoluted canons to the point they have to do reboots. Not saying G1 cannon doesn't have contradictions, but it can be better by doing to expanding, retrofitting and 'magic handwaving' instead.

I'm now 50 years back in '84 I was 12 growing up what was a small town called Markham which is just north of Toronto and grew up loving the original g1 series, did not get alot of toys because we were poor, my dad Nick was the only one working, my mom vassa never worked until a few years before she died on October 16 1988 (34 years ago) she died in her sleep from a brain aneurysm at 38 years old I was then 16 years old, she used her work money to buy both me and my younger brother Chris toys, I still wanted transformers toys and Chris wanted g.i. Joe Toys

Good video, but when was Elita 1 a major G1 character in the cartoon. She had one ever appearance. I mean we have Bumblebee, Soundwave, Ironhide, Starscream, Wheeljack, Grimlock, etc who were all major/frequent characters or have key plots revolve around them multiple episodes.

Favorite toys were octimus prime, the dinobots, and the stunticons and all of seekers and the cassettes

The 1986 Transformers film had a better story than any of the post 2000 live action films by far. Michael Bay is only outdone by Jar Jar Abrams for destroying IP's.

Firestar never appeared in the comics until the last few years in IDW comics her main appearance was one episode of g1. Optimus was not chosen by the Matrix. In fact, the only Autobot leader chosen by the Matrix was Rodimus. it was a terrible plot device and I was so happy when it went away in the Japanese continuity. Otherwise, awesome video.

What a strange retrospective...all the main characters to discuss and explore and you focus on a bunch of females who barely appeared in the cartoon. Not a particularly good plan.

I hate to be a downer here, but your notion of the Transformers "coming back into the fold" as it were with Marvel would be a colossal failure, the same failure that led to IDW losing its license at the end of this year. That being IDW and Marvel focusing so much on gender identity and other political BS with everything they have, rather than actual character development and story telling. Get Woke. Go Broke.

G1 was terrible especially compared to every other transformers media. The characters all look the same and apart from optimus and megatron, none of the voices are all that good.
