I remember when I first played this game. I didn't know Tidal Wave was a character, having never watched the cartoon. So I thought I was infiltrating a generic Decepticon ship (also having missed his giant face on the inside. That was a nice touch). Then the cut scene started and my jaw dropped. That is exactly why I love Transformers.

Just the sheer size of this guy tells you that you're in for a hell of a fight. The music only emphasizes that!

Everyone who played this game during their childhood has this song permanently engraved in the back of their brain. Hearing it triggers PTSD flashbacks.

This track is solid proof that 5/4 is the best time signature for intimidating boss music.

This boss was the dark souls boss of my childhood.

When I first saw him, my reaction was exactly this: "Do I have to fight *that*?!" "Weak point:Head" Me: "Thankfully I've Recon Mode and that snipe bot."

I loved when he waved his Jaeger sized finger at you like bitch tf you doin? U can't kill me!

That's a good quote right there.

Probubly one of the best boss fights in my life. The setting, the music, the controls, the filling, the power, the danger, the difficulty, the persistens, it was just awsome. I have only played the game on easy, and there I beated him on my second try. First try 1 h 40 min and the second 2 h and 30 min.

One of my favorite boss fights ever. And one of the hardest bosses I've ever fought.

Oooooh the memories...one of my favourite bosses in video game history! I always remember the first I faced Tidal Wave: seeing him look at you in disbelief before waving his finger at you as if to say "You've got no chance." I had the incredibly brainy idea of flying TOWARDS him to shoot his head before he punched me! Judging by other comments, seems like he does that when he's really close to you on a tiny island too. Felt bloody good to beat him though. xD

Optimus Prime: Take cover! It's Tidal Wave! You've got to destroy him! His body is heavily armored, but his head is vulnerable. His height will make it difficult to attack. Try manuvering into optical weapon range. I think that's how it goes.

This is an amazing theme! This really reflects the sheer power of Tidal Wave.

Attack on Decepticon

when I played this game years ago I tried a lot of times to beat tidal wave. The last time I lost when I was trying to bring him to his knees when I tried I see a glowing pink light and it surprised me when I saw he was about to crush me like a bug with his big fists when I was on a small Island. But hopefully I lost. The other time when I tried I hid behind the big island when he first appears. I look through he comes then I walk where the little peak was I saw him walking back and fourth trying to find me but I got him not in the head the real weakness was the back of his arms. I kept on shooting with all my fire power on his backside of his arm he kept on making the those squealing noise and finally I out weaken tidal wave his health rate was gone then he stand up straight then he came down to his knees so I 've been beat tidal long year ago when I was a young boy so I should be the real legend because I found out his real weakness but unfortunately I beat the hole levels. But the last level is hard you have to fight unicron and he is bigger then tidal wave because unicron is a giant evil mad eating planet. When I got caught in his sucking planet mouth I get thrown into planet cycbertron and I get push to the place I can't find him. but I defeated unicron and it was a Glorious battle.

I remember this guy being super difficult to take down as a kid. Back then I was too stupid to think of just equipping a sniper

We need a remaster ASAP

This would've made an awesome theme for Lugia in SoulSilver if he transformed into Shadow Lugia mid-battle. He still turns shadow when he gets really pissed.

The first time I fought this boss I was covered with fear cause of the size and how menacing he is this boss was a nightmare of hell

It is probubly one of the best boss fights in the gaming years before 2005, maybe even all the way up to 2015, does anyone agree with me. It is one of the best boss battles ever, and probubly one of the best transformers bosses and game bosses ever.

One of the greatest boss battles I have experienced in gaming.

First playing this as an 11 year old, the Tidal Wave boss fight was easily the most intimidating and challenging experience I had yet had in gaming. By far the most challenging boss fight in the game as well. Megatron and Unicron were no where near as scary or challenging.

There will never be a boss this like this or as big in gaming that has as much Freedom of movement as Tidal Wave again. I also loved landing on his head and watching it spazz out as he was trying to look in my direction, not to mention I was standing under him and he just gazed at me for a full 3mins, I felt so intimidated when he did that. 0,0

The keys to defeating Tidal Wave are patience,strategy,and whole lotta luck. I used my mini-con sniper rifle to shoot his head and as soon as he got too close I flew to the next island and repeat the whole process over again.....

Idk know if anyone sees these anymore but I was playing this game a few weeks ago and I got super close to Tidal Wave on a hill and he slammed his fist down on the hill and crushed me. I was all like WTF since when does he do that?!

I still to this day think the Tidal Wave battle been the most impressive boss battle by far.

Second most infuriating boss fight in the game but I still loved it (starscream was to difficult for me on commander as a kid ) he was the the hardest in my opinion

Took me at least 14 or 17 tries to beat him back then, tidal wave was hella hard to beat!

I just realized this version of Shockwave/Tidal wave is possibly why the US figure may have been green.

This one cause me so much grief, once i was just a few shots away from killing him, then he missiled me T_T

anyone else choose to use godmode and slowly pick tidal wave apart just to see what happened first i disabled this main guns and he sends out drones after i destroy the drones i i am close enough to him he hits me with lasers while spamming me with his secondary light laser blasters

The warship that was heading to Alaska was tidal wave he was going to Alaska where it would be megatron's base but he transformed into a giant robot to defeat him you have to shoot his head cause his body is heavily armed

The REAL key to beating this guy is having the sniper.

I've had this game for years and still think this game is worth buying just so you can fight Tidal wave.

Throughout the song, you can hear electric guitars very quietly (1:16 for example).

All i can say is... Intimidation of this boss: 1000% seriously how is this guy not intimidating hes like 100X the size of you not to mention if you go to the really really far island to hit his head easily when you get too close to him he does some kind of gigaton punch which destroys you and kills you immediately theres no warning other than he swings his arm to do said move but by then it would be too late

this game had some awesome boss battles, but the only boss that i had problems with was megatron..... he was a bitch...
