I love how in the cartoon, Tidal Wave is only marginally taller than the other Decepticons, yet in the Armada video game, he's Fortress f*cking Maximus.
man i like how he was actually the size of a fortress butas the show goes on he becomes smaller and only slightly bigger then your average UT transformer
I recently just watched the show but actually he can powerlink with the rest of his armor to get gigantic. The only reason he was normal size was so he can powerlink with megatron
I made a garbage comic where tidal wave and omega supreme have a rivalry cause they were created before the primes but when the war started they had separate ideals It was trash tho
He's my favourite one too. I like his battlecarrier (Half battleship half aircraft carrier) mode better. Reminds me of one of those super ship bosses in the Naval Ops games named Musspelheim.
I love how everyone points out how Tidal Wave's size changes drastically in the Armada Cartoon yet this same exact thing happened many times on G1 as well😂
@@maddvillaindaworse3355 indeed and that handgun that Megatron turns to is so small that a decepticon can use it with one hand and the radio that Soundwave transforms to is so small that a human can carry it lmao
@@tetrafuse3096What you're describing is "Mass-Shifting Technology", which has been established since the 80s....it allows a Transformers to shift its size accordingly, in consideration to a planet's inhabitants (to properly blend in), or for its own race. This tech, however, consumes additional energy, compared to a Transformer that does not have Mass-Shifting technology.
I'm surprised he hasn't been in more media, granted he's technically Shockwave (as evident by his Japanese name and the fact he's purple with yellow eyes) but still you don't that many boat Transformers let alone giant ones like Tidal Wave
Considering there’s also Legacy Armada Megatron, it would be a huge missed opportunity if they didn’t combine, but for that to happen Tidal Wave would have to be at most Commander Class.
Am i the only one who wants to see tidal wave return in other transformers media i think it would be awesome seeing him fight omega supreme or metroplex
I've been thinking recently that Tidal Wave, at least when he was first introduced, was what Trypticon should've been. A humanoid behemoth that would go toe-to-toe with Metroplex, instead of a dinosaur. He even has the same color scheme minus the teal accents. Trypticon's cool and all, but it's just odd that the Autobots had a city that turned into a dude but the Decepticons didn't. And thematically it works too. Metroplex is a city because the Autobots want to build a peaceful existence. Tidal Wave is a warship because all the Decepticons know is conflict and destruction.
He's hilariously small for a robot made from an aircraft carrier and two equally huge ships. The Armada game is the only time I've seen his size presented "realistically" (shame he's a pushover in his boss fight) And as a matter of personal taste I prefer his green Hasbro color scheme over the Takara purple, I feel it somehow suits the character more.
A pushover? Sure, i can see it being pretty easy after a couple times on recruit difficulty, but I'd say tidal wave can be one mean SOB the first time around, especially if you didn't use the glide wings to go back and collect the minicons in the previous levels.
@@kingpablothe1stoverlordoft871 exactly what I did when I played it this year I got to the Mid-Atlantic I knew I was going to fight tidal-wave sooner or later so I backtracked to all the other levels and collected every single mini and datacon to make sure I have nothing to go back for and try to find a load out that worked
@@silasmcgee3647 I hadn't seen the show the first time I played the game. The ship transforming into the boss of the level caught me of guard, and since I had no long range weapons, I got trounced.
He needs to pick a damn size. I really wish there had been a titan class.... or that they'd make one of him, especially if it was in his all-purple get-up, gives him a bit of a heralds of unicron-ey vibe. Like, you can picture sweeps taking off of him.
your not wrong man , it was way deeper than this . like this doesnt make any sense .... this sounds more like the energon tidal wave ...and he always said his name before or after he would transform
And I thought blackout was a giant and too big to fight alongside the normal sized transformers Tidal wave’s definitely way too big to be fighting with the normal sized transformers though
@@superplushtiman7ti075 1:29 even CIWS turrets are similiar to Gamilus/Gamilons and even EDF/UNCF pre-Yamato ones. I guess animators or designers would have grown up reading Leiji Matsumoto's mangas or his animated works in 70-80s.
Commander-class, same scale and pricing as Siege Jetfire The Weaponizer gimmick will be considered; R&D ain't cheap, no compromises on show accuracy, posability and play value.
4:15 “Megatron Master of the Universe?” I know it’s coincidental, but it’s funny knowing that the 2003 He-Man: and the Masters of the Universe series was also airing on Cartoon Network at this time (both series share the same Canadian voice actor pool).
@@SwedishSeacon Its also weird how sometimes he is extremely massive in robot mode and at other times in robot mode he is only slightly larger compared to the other transformers.
@@ZeroDarkness- I don’t know about that. Broadside doesn’t seem as big as Omega Supreme. Plus Omega Supreme can transform into separate pieces like Tidal Wave can.
I like how invincible tidal wave was only being able to be stopped by the requiem blaster and megatron is well aware of this cause he never talks to tidal wave in a rude way (like the coward he was back then
Why in armada did they refer to tidalwave as shockwave at the end of his full episode debute? I did like tidal wave and the idea that he could merge with megatron even.
In Japan, Tidal Wave was reffered to as Shockwave. Due to how the show was made, and rushed for production, the team often mixed up the Japanese names with the official US ones (amoung other issues).
Tidal Wave annoyed me when I was younger, is he constantly mass shifting? Is a he a gestalt type combiner? Is he a city former? Is he leader class or voyage class? A missed opportunity for a new city former, a badly implemented opportunity for a gestalt that also combines with other Transformers.
This was an Incredible Masterpiece for Tidal Wave. I’m still surprised that Tidal Wave was voiced by Doug Parker The Same Guy who voiced Terrorsaur in Transformers Beast Wars. Tidal Wave may not been The Smartest Decepticon but This Dude was a Power House.
As much as I love Armada, I’ve always hated the mis-matched, inconsistent scaling. At one point, characters like Tidal Wave are HUGE! And then like.. 2 scenes later they’re almost in scale with other characters who should be far smaller by comparison.
I'd love to get a titan of this guy in legacy, but I don't think it's likely, and here's why. They've already revealed the newest titan for this current wave as the Nemesis to counterpart the Ark from WFC, and I don't think they'd release another expensive figure so soon. Also, if he is titan class, he wouldn't be able to realistically combine with the leader Megatron. So if Tidal Wave does come to legacy, I think he will be commander size
@stanbrixsfan0346 and it's weird! It's supposed to be a Titan that still combines with Megatron. This makes me think they're going to start rolling back the titan size class like they did with leaders
@@theguywiththegoatee7801 I doubt they're going to downsize Titans with Tidal Wave, it's been stated that the Legacy: United figure for him will have smaller components that can be slapped onto Armada Megatron for his super mode.
@@theguywiththegoatee7801 Funny thing, comes with smaller parts that combine with Megatron for that, and said parts also form a base mode. His bot mode is about as tall as the Ark.
WOW, so both autobots and decepticons had their own aircraft carriers. Did they make toys. Holy smoke did he just combine with another now that's and gigantic bot.
The Titan Class is understandable as in the show and if this guy was real everyone would join the fight to take him down and the only way to take him down is by going to the: head
its fucking funny how he was so huge like a city metroplex size in the beginning but cause of dumbass writers totally forgot how they introduced him and hes only like Grimlock size most of the time and even smaller when he combines with megatron lol
Tidal Wave is truly one of the biggest missed opportunities in the show and the franchise. A Titan class super-carrier reduced to a power-up for megs. Shameful
Some Transformers series are just too comical and kiddish.. Like u won't enjoy them unless u're still a kid.. Some of us need a series that's more serious and less jokey in its dialogue and depictions..something more like G1 and BeastMachines..
G1 only got more serious in S3 and the movie...Armada has plenty going on too as did Energon eventually if you could last long enough and survive the boredom.
