I'm a pretty casual original Voltron fan. I'm generally fond of the Netflix version too. The only toy I have is the super sick Lego they made. That thing is fuckin sweet.
The Playmates 40th anniversary one is a pretty good one to get ,since its currently being re-issued , he is 16 inches tall just so you know. ALSO the Playmates is 109 plus shipping on Big Bad Toystore right now , that's a lot cheaper than the other alternative's.
The only Voltrons I have are Voltron I in Matchbox, and Voltron III in Matchbox and Panosh Place. So I never really went beyond the 80s with Voltron... And actually I had a Knockoff Voltron I, which came with a sword, so my Matchbox one now has a Sword! Also I was always a fan of Vehicle Voltron over Lion Voltron!
1:02 Saw you looking for the Toa Metru on one of your ads, and now you pull out Takanuva Mistika?! Are we getting Bionicle reviews, or did I just miss some? I'd love to see your collection!
I just got the playmates 40th anniversary classic Voltron, it still has abit of that wabble feel . But like most Voltrons, it makes a nice display piece
The playmates 40th anniversary Voltron is pretty decent if you’re after the vintage anime look, and it’s not super expensive, but the arm articulation is really bad on it as it has absolutely no bicep swivel. I’d check that one out if you can find them at retail. They’re target exclusive atm but coming to all retailers later this year. I’m more fond of the retro voltron look but this Netflix one is cool for kids. If you’re looking for a high end one then I’d go soul of chogokin or the blitzway one, but they’re super expensive.
Were you able to get the speeders that store in the belly’s with this set? They were a cool detail from the show and I rember losing them all the time 😂 great review on one of my favourite childhood toys
The black lions shoulder don’t ratchet forward pribably cus of the readers in the slots for the green and red lion if you have it turned on when combining
Hi, appreciate your review. I recomend trying out Blitzway or Soul Of Chogokin to have a much better experience. And not just Voltron, there are tons of exotic combiner mechs for you to choose from
Wait I had this one! But I only got the black lion and yellow lion. Black has… well… yellowed, and yellow literally brok so now he legless. On the back. Pain. I never got red and green because I couldn’t find those in Australia. Pain.
There were suppose to be more Netflix voltron toys but they pulled the pulled for wave 2 because they weren’t making enough money. So that is why we don’t have Allura and Lotor toys and the other mechs that later came into the show.
If you’re interested in checking out something more Masterpiece quality (and by that I mean MP-10 Masterpiece quality) then I recommend the Soul of Chogokin release. It’s a little bit pricey (especially on the after market) but it’s a significant upgrade. Multiple accessories, abundant articulation, die cast metal pieces… high recommendation from moi.
Yo, I have this all of it or every single figure. I used to love Voltron what ever animes called. Also, those little figures that are in it were gone immediately I have no idea what those went
This company also did a Voltron that is more in line with the classic version of the character at the same price point and is even better than this one. You should absolutely get your hands on that one if you can
I say go all in and get the Soul of Chogokin Voltron. I have this and other Voltrons. SOC is the best at that price point. Next up is the Robozero. SOC is something you play with a little and then display. The Robozero is almost as good BUT is a fun one to actually play with. It's still a pricey toy but it feels nice to actually PLAY with it. Still displays nice but not as many accessories as the SOC. The Blitzway is THE VOLTRON but you'll have to do some soul searching when you see the price of that thing. I have that one too but it's still in the box since I have no more space to display. I also kind of want to wear white gloves when I take it out of the box. If you get the SOC Voltron, you can then try to get the SOC Vehicle Voltron.
@@devilbringer1102 I never heard of that but after looking at it, I'd rather go for the high end Masterpiece Voltron. Moderoid is all plastic and much smaller. If I get Moderoid, I'd customize it.
That figure is pretty awesome. If I find one cheap I would probably buy them to. But usually when it comes to anything besides Transformers I will only buy original figures.
i have this voltron and i’ve had it for a long time i mostly have transformers and marvel stuff but i do have some other stuff and this is one of the miscellaneous things i have so yea
It's real nice to see a non-TF (but still robot) review from you. I didn't really watch this Netflix iteration of Voltron but I did watch the source anime from Japan, *GoLion* which had a solid story for the time (and no censorship from North America)..
Considering Voltron can solo Zarkon's actual entire space fleet, Voltron, easy. Primus & Unicron might put up fights, though. Death Battle tried pitting Voltron against the Power Rangers (probably comparable to most Combiners), only to realize they had to pad out the fight, because Voltron is a universal force, not a planetary one, & tremendously over-powered the Megazord.
I was hoping for Hasbro to give Power Rangers the Transformers engineering treatment. We should've gotten perfect Zords, with acceptable plastic, at reasonable prices, from the wizard's working on Transformers. How did they screw it up, when most Zords have simpler transformations than most Transformers?
i didn't like Voltron or these other weird "things combine into giant robot" like the power rangers stuff, speaking of i only had respect for the green ranger. They're all the same, totally useless as individual units, but they win when they combine into Exodia the Forbidden One. Part of why i like the Transformers, they're doing things and good in their own right, and then some of them "can" combine into a larger robot, but you know they're capable without having to.
Check out Vehicle Voltron. They didn't need to combine, every battle. The individual ships actually could win battles, plus the subteams could do stuff (& they weren't always used for battles, but sometimes combined just for exploration). VV actually was supposed to have a 5 minute time limit, due to the power draw on his nuclear turbines, so was meant as a last resort, but that often got ignored, for rule of cool, though. The 2 sides fighting over planets for colony expansion, & how some of those encounters got resolved, also makes for a different dynamic. Not sure how things went in the original Dairugger XV, though. Only watched it as Voltron, which kinda Roboteched GoLion & Dairugger XV together. I liked both the lions & vehicles. Respected the Vehicle Force more, since they were competent in battle, but liked the Lion Force's plots a bit more, & it was easier to keep track of 5 lion pilots vs. 15 vehicle pilots.
