Transformers Generation Selects VOLCANICUS Takara Tomy Mall Exclusive Unboxing & Review 

I really loved the Dinobots as a kid & wished they had a combine mode, but I figured they didn't have one because it'd be too OP. Now they merge into Volcanicus I'd really like to see him in animated form. To me it was cool that Grimlock was the only Dinobot whose name didn't start with an "S", because he was the leader.

In my opinion, the transparent plastic outer layer covering the gold detailed interior is a great touch. It highly detailed yet it still looks flat. It also domehow prevent the inner detail from damage. This figure/ set looks fantastic, looking forward to get this one.

Fact: Grimlock is the only Dinobot whose name does not start with a “S”.

VOLCANICUS looks like a combiner that went on a serious diet! 😄

This is such and awesome combiner! Devastator would have had a much more difficult time beating the Dinobots in the movie had they been able to merge into Volcanicus!

Slug's G1 name is just the waste material from welding in the US and have no issue with the name change but find it funny that it was a curse word replacement in Beast Wars- Rattrap says it all the time

The 12 dislikes on this video are the Quintessons crushed by the door

Maybe these would scale well with Legends Figures (in dino mode) and some regular US figs

This will match better with the TDW upgrade set for Volcanicus due to the better looking gold.

Speaking of ‘slug’ I remember back in the g1 days (1985 I think) my mum being mortified when she asked my brother what he wanted for his birthday and he answered grimlock and sl*g. She couldn’t believe what she heard.

I have always liked the concept of the Dino bots combining. I love volcanicus, he and devastator are my favorite combiners

I managed to collect all these dinobots last second. I mossed Grimlock though. But I have the silver knight 2 pack, so I was fine.

The paint on these are perfect! I think I'm going to trade in my volcanicus for this one even if its like 100$ more than the POTP figures... The studio 86 dinobots in dino mode with this volcanicus behind them on a shelf............. just perfection. Also another great video!! thanks and keep up the outstanding work!

I've somehow just started buying Transformers again. Dinobots along with the cassettes, were always my favourites. Great video - must try and find these!

I am a massive fan of the Dinobots and have the old ones in their original packages (I just could make myself open the boxes). So I passed this one back in the day. But after seeing this review I am sold the new paint work and the swords at the back make look so clean, I ordered this one and planning to put those on display centered between my Optimus Maximus and Superion. Great review! This is the set that should have been released in the first place. I am glad I kept my pre-order on Hasbro Pulse. The new 86 Leader Class Dinobots will be amazing but I have my Fanstoys Dibots which to this day are simply outstanding. What the Dibots don't do is combine so I will definitely be looking forward to when my set comes in. Thanks for the detailed review.

Great review. I'm glad to see that it looks to be even more stable in combined mode than the original release. I'll slap my Transform Dream Wave upgrade kit onto this version of Volcanicus and it will be perfect.

Great set, nice review! I did find out what slag meant in the UK, (lol) but here in the US it is waste material left over from mining metals I ended up getting the oversized black mamba Volcanicus. They come with extra guns and swords and if you buy Slash she comes with filler pieces for Volcanicus as well as another gun and sword

Already have PotP version with the 2 Upgrade Kit(PE and TDW) it's amazing but I am hesitating to get that one to use all the spare parts of the kits... a little late though ;/

In my opinion Volcanicus is what I want to get as far as this set is concerned, the individual Dinobots do look very nice but I think I am going to get the Studio Series versions because they will/have better scale with the rest of the WFC trilogy.

Finally a combiner who's team leader isn't just an altered combiner wars silverbolt

Got mine delivered last week. This set makes the 12 year old me so happy. The 45 year old me is also jazzed.

There are no extra parts needed for the combine mode that aren’t needed for the robot mode. It is an awesome figure

I think something as simple as just changing the eye colors of the figures goes a long way to improving them.

Dinobots were never meant to be combiners. Part of the reason I never bought this set back when I was collecting transformers.

What is it about the Dinobots that makes them visually damn cool looking, huh??

I personally really wanna see these Dinobot molds, but instead of that grey, we get a Gun Metal Gray coloring, with some red, yellow, and orange lava-style highlights.

How's the hips and knees for the combined mode though? Because on most CW/PotP combiners, those joints are practically useless ragdolls.

I have the POTP versions (bought individually)...and they are a floppy mess when combined. Some of the tabs won't stick together and good luck getting Volcanicus to stand on his own. I usually have to lean him against something. Also I took too long to get any of the upgrade kits and they are all sold out now. Can anyone help me in terms of decent torso upgrade kits for this?

It really stinks I missed out on the power of the primes line I only managed to acquire two of the dinobots. Grimlock and swoop I'm glad to have these hope I can complete the group sometime in the future.

It's nice that they can combine, but would have helped if they add some mass to the center of body in combiner mode.

I remember having the original g1 sludge as a kid in the 80s

What's the plastic like on Swoop's legs? I had the original set and the plastic was so soft/flexible that when I put Swoop into arm/leg mode for the combined form the tabs on his legs just wouldn't stay tabbed together.

4 months late but you can slide the extra hands from the deluxes onto the sides of the grimlock torso to fix a lot the proportions

Does he lean forward really badly when you have him holding the swords? I cannot find anyone online who owns it and can answer that question. I feel like mine might have loose ankles because he leans forward and close to toppling over even when he is simply standing holding the swords

This would make a great Dino Force/ Dinoking repaint, for anyone who's seen Transformers Victory.

Where does one get this and for how much? I don't see it on BBTS Or should I get the new Studio series Dinobot lineup if they add more? I don't think those are engineered to combine though right?

in my old collection i had all the Cw combiners with up grade kits no chug foe me but this is temptimg like the colors pair it with DNA kit

While I thought the POTP Dinobots were cool, I was really let down that they weren't Voyager scale. Predaking was always meant as a Decepticon response to the Dinobots, so to not see Hasbro/Takara take the opportunity to re-work Predaking into a Voyager-sized, Titan-scale Volcanicus was a let-down. If you think about it, Divebomb would be an easy re-tool to Swoop, Slug and Sludge could be done from Headstrong and Tantrum, and Snarl from Rampage. The only tricky one is Grimlock, but there has to be a way. Until Takara decides to do something like that, I'll pass on any Generations selects Dinobots.

I appreciate you doing a review on volcanicus, maybe I might buy him because its taking too long for Studio Series 86 to make most of the Dinobots but in order to truly know which I should get can you please do a Predaking review so my undecidable brain can finally choose?

got the KO version a while ago so i couldn't justify the $200 The shoulders are the biggest issue for me. Do the chest pieces even help hold them up? It doesn't look like it

I think there's a third party upgrade kit for volcanicus that comes with better hands and stuff ( I would check big bad toy store or tfsource)

I wish Grimlock was a leader class figure, the proportions would have been so much better and gestalt would have been a lot more solid IMO. I still think the best official ‘Dino’ combiner is the PCC version.

It's a shame that there wasn't a repaint of Slash to complete the POTP Gen Selects Dinobot crew.

I've always hated Grimlock's feet in dino mode, I see that hasn't changed, but other than that this is a good looking set.

Show accuracy. Also, PrimevsPrime, I think Slug's original name meant something to do with the result of the process of melting ore and metal, I think. I can't remember 100% what it meant, I did look it up, and I think it is what his original name meant. Also, for the next DOTM look back video, are you going to do the leader class Sentinel Prime?

Volcanicus will reappear as a core class combiner in legacy. It would probably be better to buy the legacy version if snarl gets released since this and the other combiner wars combiners and the POTP combiners are very expensive but very wobbly.

Honestly I loved the combined mode of this guy but I would have preferred if they had done a titan class for this guy I think he would have been better

Having the original set, I needed to get that TDW set to improve the combined mode. This new set is pretty much like pouring sprinkles on a turd.

Good to know this release is less floppy than the Hasbro version
