Transformers LEGACY Voyager SOUNDWAVE + BOOMBOX Mode Review 

For those who don't know; the reason the Earthrise Soundwave mould couldn't have been used for this release, is because Hasbro doesn't actually own it. When an exclusive item is made for a brand, that brand now owns that design. In this case, it's Netflix/Walmart that owns the Earthrise Soundwave mould, meaning Hasbro couldn't re-release it. At least, that's what I was told.

Never got the Siege Soundwave, and I never got the Netflix one. Personally, I always thought the Siege version was the superior version, so while I do feel for the people who wanted a Prime Soundwave, I was actually kind of excited for this release

I had the siege version and I purchased an upgrade kit that pushed the arms back and allowed it to transform into a boom box but I didn’t know it could transform into a cybertronian boom box, really cool. Great review.

From what I’ve heard the yellowing issue started because their plastic supplier changed the plastic they were using. They’ve gotten a new supplier so wave 3 of legacy and onward should have the new plastic. Great review as always PvP!

I don’t know why, but I just love the ship mode for some reason, just something about it has a certain charm

Although the rerelease of the netflix voyager would have been amazing, I'm still very happy that we got a good Voyager soundwave that will go well with the other WFC,SS86, and legacy decepticons.

Tbh. I like the yellow eyes. Much more toy accurate, And makes him MORE diffrent than the other decepticons

I totally prefer the new version without the battle damage. As for the yellow visor, I'm sure the reprolabels set comes with a red sticker for the visor.

I don't understand why Hasbro just can't give us fans what we want. Soundwave has always been a walkman cassette deck. If third party companies can make one so can Hasbro.

Lets hope like goldbug they get around to the netflix version of Soundwave for the upcoming shattered glass version. Would make me happy but many who missed out on the netflix version would be upset.

When you said Cybertronian Dropship I actually could believe it since Soundwave in media could hold all of his cassette forces. And for the price difference in would have been cool if they gave us Buzzsaw or Rumble or Frenzy to rival Rewind that came with Blaster

While disappointed that it wasn't a Prime Universe Soundwave (maybe we'll still eventually get one!), I really do love this mold, so getting a clean version is pretty cool. I agree that they should've included a cassette bot (Laserbeak is my preference) but oh well.

You can always count on the fandom to give this guy a bizarre and intuitive alt mode. Works here a lot better than it did for the WFC cybertronian van release Ordered this guy from BBTS is as he's pretty impossible to find in Canada, and never once saw the siege version so perfect opportunity to grab one. Really hope QCs been improved since release, but as is this to me is a perfect G1 representation of the character. Missed opportunity though to give him the visor, and real shame not to have a Ravage or Laser beak included.

I like that Cybertronian boom box quite a bit. Very creative and looks good.

I was really hoping this would be a prime soundwave

So glad I got the Netflix version back in 2021. And don’t get me wrong, the mold is fantastic, heck, I got the Anniversary Soundblaster in the Siege mold. I’m just a little disappointed that we didn’t get a G1-esque version of Prime Soundwave. But it is nice to see Siege Soundwave with no battle damage; it’s really nice; you could get a sense of the pre-WFC show battle imprint. And… somehow, I actually don’t have a yellowing problem on any of my figures (…yet).

Getting back into collecting, and I did not get the battle damaged version. So, I look forward to this coming out in stores. I hope I can find it as I’ve only seen Blaster twice in my travels. But I don’t have a lot of store options (other than Amazon) where I live. I always loved the hunt. Thank you for the video. It definitely helps.

So I have a ko masterpiece Soundwave (and a core class version) which I love, and a Legacy Blaster (which I also find to be fantastic) only issue is the size difference for display. Holding out hope for a core class blaster in the future.

Pretty excited for this. I like the idea of battle damage but I didn't think it was very well done so given the actual choice I'd prefer it clean. Love the fan alt mode. Probably wouldn't use it unless I was displaying several Soundwaves together in various alt modes.

Honestly would of loved a re release/legacy look of the prime design of sound wave cause I loved that design for him

Since this version is 1/4 of the cost of what people want for the Siege version., yes I want it! The Netflix one IS the best version, and people know it. It’s damn nearly unobtainable. I think the spaceship mode is supposed to be some kind of aircraft carrier, or drop ship like you said. Since Soundwave has his little minions, it kind of makes sense. I would love to see a Studio Series 86 or something so we can obtain our beloved cassette player version but… those aren’t modern anymore, and TF’s are supposedly “In Disguise” to blend in. A tape player just doesn’t blend in anymore. I could maybe see a more modern “boombox” and his minions could be “wireless accessories” or something comparable. But really.. a ship with small fighters makes as much sense as anything.

I'll be picking up this one. I need a Soundwave in this field.

I personally feel like this is the most lack lustre figure of wave 2, sure it’s based off the Siege mould what was good but it really shouldn’t be a part of a TF line what released three years after its own release. Still a bit disappointed that we didn’t get a Prime universe figure or at least an Earthrise rerelease, would’ve felt a little more worth it if you ask me.

If you add the two gray blasters to the peg holes on the top, they kind of look like antennas in the fan alternate mode

Happy to call it my first soundwave, think they should have altered his deco though, change the pink and visor to red, the grey pistol works good on his back, makes it look like a radio antenna.

People like to bring up the exclusivity agreement, but frankly, Hasbro never should have made the definitive evergreen versions of A tier characters into exclusives in the first place. Same with Netflix Bumblebee. Exclusives should be for easter egg repaints/shattered glass/diaclone or d tier character repaints like the rain makers.

I saw someone say that Siege Soundwave's alt mode strikes them as a dropship for Soundwaves Minicons, and that sounds (hehe Sound) pretty convincing to me

I completely disregarded this figure because of the crummy looking ship mode and I was just gonna wait for the 3 pack, but the fan boombox looks great and I also didn't know he could also transform into the lamp, that's soo good. I just wish it came with Laserbeak

I like soundwave and even tho I have the Netflix one, I'm planning on getting this guy too and I like how instead of just being the G1 version, he's the G1 TOY version

I think that random grey gun soundwave comes with is supposed to look like a version of that gun soundwave used in DOTM

Honestly to avoid the discoloring, I would just repaint the parts with silver paint.

I have friend who hade the seige version but had been lost in house fire, so when I had seen that gamestop were selling this figure I immediately bought it for them for Christmas

I am so glad I have the Netflix Soundwave when he came out. Don't have to worry about gettting a better Soundwave. Unless of course, they improve upon it.

Not having obtained either of the two previous Siege figures I'll be sure to pick this one up. The amber eyes don't bother me, but I'm sure, if it's possible, someone is already working on an alternate eye kit.

I have to admit that I love the clean version of the Legacy Siege War for Cybertron Soundwave a lot better than the battle damaged version. And the boombox mode looks awesome 👍

I asked myself the same question tbh so i wont give you crap about this but the first episode g1 when the autobots are going back to base in cybertron soundwave disguises himself as a light as the autobots rolled up stand him up and thats what he is originally (tbh im more of a fan of the boombox rectangle which is apparently very expensive)

Man, if this came with Buzzsaw I would have snapped it up immediately. Currently, I'm on the fence. Siege Soundblaster is my collection's Soundwave as I prefer his upgraded form from Headmasters but I did want to get a standard Soundwave as well. That was originally going to be the NETFLIX Soundwave but with all the yellowing, I'm not so sure I want to pay the high prices for it if it is just going to get ruined.

Some of the white plastic on my Studio Series 86 Jazz actually looks slightly yellowed but only in certain lighting conditions. Sitting on my desk next to my PC with indirect light from the window? A shade yellower; underneath the fluorescent lights in the kitchen? Perfect match across the board. To make things EVEN MORE CONFUSING, the door decals from the repro-labels set I bought for him matches the plastic that looks yellowed but, again, only in the lighting conditions that produce that effect. *shrug*

That weird blaster can be turned into a handle for Smashdown in his hammer mode. Just plug the existing hammer handle into that weird blaster. And then give it to wfc Springer or Ultra Magnus. You can probably use it with other melee battle masters.

usually i have some appreciation for the siege scuffing, but i think soundwave in particular suffered for it, especially with his chest being so cracked it might as well have been a fine dust. though, i do appreciate that without it the design gets to shine a little brighter.

I got this recently and definitely believe it's the superior version aside from Transformers Prime I feel. Love this thing and my brother got Sound blaster!

I might end up getting this. My siege soundwave is a couple years old now and the joints are really loose, especially the left arm and head, with the arm falling of commonly, of course my siege soundwave is one of my favourite sound waves of all time but the joints are just so annoying I might just get this.

I will love a tutorial to get red eyes for this guy.

Ive just resolved to get all my figures third party. I'm tired of my local stores never having the figures I want because all ours are stocked with overstock, basically we get what all the other stores can't/don't sell. Every once in a while I'll find a good one, but I go to the section everytime and it's the same 4 figures but multiples most times.

Ok tbh that boombox mode.. best one i've seen not too bulky and overall... he did a good job with that also yeah it's just a cybertronian ship at least that's what the box says

Thank you for this video I just got into collecting transformers about 2 or 3 years ago I have about 9 decepticons so far including 2 d duplicates of Soundwave they are both different the other one is the Transformers authentic alpha toy figure. I just recently purchased a Soundwave legacy Voyager that I got at walmart. I was getting really irritated and frustrated because I had problems and issues trying to transform him. The instructions were a little bit and a lot confusing.

I liked the old intro music but I'm loving the new synth wave intro theme 👍

The Year 2055 PVP: Today we'll be taking a look at the 189th repaint of War for Cybertron Siege Soundwave...

I had the yellowing problem for Megatron Earthrise, while Megatron Siege instead looks fine. Every one of his articulation joints and upper legs yellowed giving a greenish tone. I had to paint over them to get him look fine again. Luckily I had a compatible good gray shade gundam marker for this use. I already have got a Siege Soundwave so this, coupled with the yellowing, is an easy pass. I think it is worth for those who lost the siege release for the figure is a really good one as you pointed out.

Legacy soundwave kind of attractive as the toy had removed unnecessary battle damage It can also transform into cyberteonian lamppost

I got mine like 3 or so weeks ago and I think this is so much better than the siege one because he has no scuff marks

I'm not getting Soundwave till I pick one but if there's the upgrade kit for this I'll hope to make him a car close to animated

They should've at least change the eye color and add Laserbeak to make him a bit more different

i used a red color art marker / highligher to color the whole yellow transparent plastic. light still go tru tho.

The boombox mode reminds me of the transformers fall of cybertron boombox mode in the return of megatron mission

Well, as far as I know I’m pretty happy with my Netflix sound wave as is, that being said this siege/legacy mold is not bad by any means

...yeah, I think that once again, scale be damned, I'm good with Titans Return Soundwave being my CHUG Soundwave; I like that he's the big beefy bruiser bodyguard for Megatron and the gang...though it is hilarious that he's the size of a CW/UW/PotP Combiner. Meanwhile, Siege/35th Anniversary Soundblaster can fit the bill for the current era version, with all the revamped Tape Minions, too. (I REALLY need to get Earthrise Doubledealer; I don't think that the old one that's a Thrilling 30 Blitzwing repaint would work well with the Tape Minion'd Powermaster partners!)

i wanna get a Laserbeak and/or ravage to compliment my Legacy voyager class soundwave is the seige Laserbeak and Ravage two pack the one that's most compatible with this version of soundwave, or do i have to find/wait for a legacy version?

I would've preferred the SOUND BLASTER mold that holds two minions with this color scheme ...

I'm content with the original Seige version with Toyhax labels. I also like to transform him into satellite mode.
