I still can’t get over how amazing the depth of complexity and engineering that went into 44 and this guy. Everything folds up so cleanly and seamless. These MP figures look so simple and G1-y but have so much going on.

Interesting!! Let's see here... 1. The rounded "season 1 style" head is okay; it does look better in this color scheme. I wish they would've given him a head that looks like the Generation 2 comics (like what KuBianBao MP10V has), it looks like a more menacing look. 2. That Decepticon symbol...niiice!! Welcome back, my friend. It's been a LONG time since we saw you. They've had your goofy show accurate cousin instead since MP29 Shockwave. 3. Aside from the bulky backpack, the only thing I don't really like is that C-clip system for the axe and right hand. 4. It's still nuts that Takara thinks the base cab/robot mold is worth the unholy $250 they're wanting...

I'm really glad to see that Takara is in fact learning from their mistakes with MP-44. This Nemesis Prime looks really good and you're right the rounded head does look good on it. I would love to get my hands on one of these. Thanks for reviewing it.

Hey, PrimeVsPrime. Really enjoyed your review. Just a question: while watching the review, the waist/torso on MP44 looked really wobbly while MP49's looked as if it was stable as a rock. Can you confirm whether or not the torso on MP49 is more solid than on MP44?

The more I transform this version of the mold, the less complicated it got for me.

Just finished watching Transformers: War For Cybertron, no spoilers but, it impressed me a lot and I am excited for Chapters 2 and 3.

Loads of people are saying the knees are worse than MP-44 because they can extend too far forward and the upper ratchet can pop out, which will likely cause it to break if it happens repeatedly. So not so much of a fix, more of a slightly different problem. QC is apparently bad as well, with sprue marks, damaged surfaces etc. This all comes from in-hand reports with pictures.

Would have greatly preferred a red energon axe for Nemesis tbh. Also glad I held out for the inevitable MP-44 re-release with the knee fix applied.

I like him but, but MP10 Nemesis looks way more intimidating imo. Also I was hoping he'd be painted black instead of just molded.

The knee joints are entirely different from MP-44. MP-44 had a clever mechanism that prevented the lower knee from moving until the upper knee hit its limit. It had some assembly issues that were fairly easy to correct. This new design avoids the chance of misassembly in exchange for the joints being independent. So when the bottom joint is still flexed and you straighten the leg by moving the top joint, the top joint can run out of teeth and you can end up with a weird overextension if you don't adjust both joints just so.

I never spun the silver bits down on the legs the first time when folding them up, tried it your way and it barely gave the clearance to close the legs and actually scraped one of them, you sure your supposed to do that wee stage? Mines didn't even look like it was molded to do that and legs feel more flush not doing it

I have a question are the MP 44 accessories and trailer compatible with this figure or did takara remold this figure slightly?

Takara missed the mark not painting him in a glossy black. It reminds me of TE Prime - a cool transformation, but looks cheap next to other Takara and Fanstoys MPs in your display case.

Is there a version of mp 10 without the trailer who is around £100-£180(around the value of wheeljack) ? I kinda prefer og prime

The plastic in the hip area I think just needed a slightly brighter molded grey pieces. Kinda glad that the knees are fixed though. I'd buy this over MP-44 due to price and improvements, if I were in the market for one of these.

I got this but I wish they made the colors pop a lot more. I feel like I bought a ko color variant at genuine takara prices. After the money I spent on this and the regular release I have no issue buying whatever variants the ko market does going forward. I know ko's are wrong but I've supported the officials and their somewhat overkill price(s) so here's to hoping for ko shattered glass, eva and another version or 2 for a hundred bucks a piece

Takara should release mp 44 but revised .release mp 44 but with the mp 49 mold but still have the eletronics and discard the mini figures+the starscream parts.and also discard the energon hose

Got mine for $150 on e-bay B) I will never transform it though because one of the joints is most definitely near breaking, and the joints are quite loose, but hey, he looks amazing!

So they had the giant backpack on MP44 to insert a voice box. If MP49 doesn't have a voice box, why is the backpack still that damn big?

there is no reason they could not have remolded 49s back to make his back slimmer, Takara was extremely lazy on that part, and to say that compromises were necessary, for the transformation, I point too, 2 different 3rd party figures, transform element OP leader, and unique toys challenger, they are both screens accurate and transformable, and both of them have much more screen accurate designs than Takara's official offering

For me, I love all of the accessories that come with MP-49, but I still prefer the cab and robot of MP-10. For me, the cab looks too plain, the transformation looks way too complex and the robot looks like he is wearing adult diapers. Also, I do not think that the sound gimmick is necessary, I'd prefer to have the gun storage in his back. And what really kills it for me is the exorbitant price, it is just way beyond what I can afford to pay for him. I just cannot afford that amount that they are asking for.

Is hasbro still planning to release mp-44 or not? I've tried looking everywhere to find out, but found nothing. Also do you think 'If' the Hasbro version comes out, will it use the fixed knees or the original knees?

The backpack still bothers me. It's too big. I'll stick with MP-10 for now. I hope in the future we'll get an Optimus figure that combines the best of both MP10 and MP44

This figure is a big disappointment. I have the MP-10B Nemesis, and the main reason I purchased it was the premium paint job it has. For the price of MP-49 it should be fully painted. Thank-you for the review. An easy pass for me. I am happy with one copy of this mold.

$220 plus $20 shipping for the only one I saw on EBay. Why isn’t bang for the buck ever discussed on these reviews? I’d like to hear some background as to why these Japanese issued toys are so darn expensive.

It appears that the Nemesis Prime has the quality of the KO MP-44 unpainted and improved leg hinge.

250 bucks for this? It really makes me think. That's a decent price. Takara needs to reissue regular MP44 without the trailer and Starscream costume bits. All we need is Prime with his gun and axe. Sell that for 250 bucks and it'll be gangbusters.

I will readily admit that this figure definitely fixes some issues that MP-44 had... but that doesn't mean that I hate this mold any less. I still believe it sucks. Let me break it down. *The Bad:* - They fixed the paint chipping problem, but in doing so created another problem in that the figure just looks dull and lifeless. Some figures can look good without a lot of paint, but this is not one of them. - They removed all the electronics, but didn't do a goddamn thing to get rid of that obnoxious backpack. G1 Optimus Prime just shouldn't have a backpack. *Period.* His back should be nice and flat, no ifs, ands or buts about it. - They didn't do anything to improve the overall look of the mold. Don't get me wrong; it looks good from the front in both modes... but the front is this mold's ONLY good angle. The gaps and exposed hinges in the shoulders and lower legs, as well as the stupid engorged hump of a backpack, are still just as ugly as they always were. - Finally, the transformation. Still absolute garbage. Zero improvement. The mess of panels that form the sides of the truck and fold up into the legs are completely unnecessary and overcomplicate what could've been a nice, fun transformation. *The Good:* - Slimming down on accessories did considerably knock down the price, and I can certainly appreciate that. Would be nice if MP-44 wasn't almost $500 anymore, but I guess that's just too much to ask. - ......What, were you expecting more? Hell no. Lowering the price was literally the only good thing about this figure that didn't have a new problem arise from it, or completely disregard a related problem. All in all, the Masterpiece Optimus Prime 3.0 sucks big dong and always will. Don't @ me; I'll be too busy lusting after Transform Element's Prime mold.
