Appreciate the review, thank you! I ordered this version from Anime Express. In the post now so should arrive early next week. Really looking forward to him. Looks really good and I think still holds up pretty well compared to modern figures. One exception is the back which I'd hoped they'd find a way to fill in, in robot mode. I see he still has the hole. I think from pictures I've seen elsewhere the seats in the cab seem to be a bit higher, so that helps a bit, at least from the front. And of course the matrix fills in some of that hollowness. Not a biggee, but a flap you can fold down to cover his back would havee bene welcome. I'm not sure how practical that would be without deviating too much from the original mould. While I'd have liked a place to plug in roller and the spring mechanism, the detachable drone compensates for that. Future figures: hoping for a proper gun Megatron* (although Takara might not do that as they would lose international sales, due to some countries issues with toy guns) a Soundwave and carbots. *Always hankered for one as a kid , but never got him. I did get the masterpiece (a fantastic figure) as an adult but I've put off transforming him as it looks really complicated. Something with the ease of G1 transformation but modern articulation will be welcome, even if he does look a bit odd in robot mode.
This is a great figure. I feel nastalgia from the 80's. I pre ordered 2 of them. I am hoping they do the autobot cars for this line. Particularly prowl Jazz mirage hound bluestreak and sunstreaker. That is a phenomenal Optimus prime. Good video sir.
