The two (in one) being victims of Shockwave's experiments really does make the most sense. I figure they would have been some of the victims of his earliest preliminary experiments in combiner/gestalt creation.
That would have been some beautiful trolling. I wanted to like this comment but it's sitting at 69 likes and I can't disrupt that so take my like in spirit.
It seems obvious to me that their vehicle mode should be an F-82 Twin Mustang. And finding out that it was eventually an armored car is actually flabbergasting.
@@Narutonarutonaruto85 Sure. I’m just saying it’d tie into their stated cybertronian jet alt modes from the comics. It’d really put a nice bow on everything.
In my head canon, the third brother to Rack'n'Ruin is called Rocket. Rocket Rack'n'Ruin In the Marvel Comics, during his early adventures Rocket Raccoon once piloted a space ship called The Rack'n'Ruin.
I always thought that non transforming characters like Rack n Ruin, Centurion (marvel uk) ,Autobot X etc etc would've been great build a figures similar to the marvel legends series
I remember TransMutate was a build a bot that came in separate pieces included with beast wars reprints. Were there ever any others? I remember that was a popular gimmick in 2000s toys.
I really like the design of those guys, they are one of my fav cyberverse characters after bee-shadowstriker-dead end, thier concept is amazing it remind me to cybertron scourge (galaxy force flame convoy) when he get the extra 2 dragon heads with the cyber key and i hope for more 3 or 2 heads concepts/designs in the future, and we need to see rack'n' ruin in the upcoming toylines and the fact that they are 2 heads but work togther make them one of the best 2 heads characters i've ever seen after split-face from lego hero factory and how about the basics on mirage or mindwipe, demolisher ??
Aside from the modulator figure I kind of want a larger scale figure of Doublecrosser now. I definitely agree with you I’ve always found the concept of a creature with multiple heads intriguing. I guess that could explain why one of my favorite Kaiju is King Ghidorah.
Agreed! I still wish we got a commander class astrotrain from cyberverse toy. I thought his design was amazing. That rack and ruin and ratchet episode was one of cyberverse best lol. It was hilarious
Oh that third brother idea is interesting. What if brother three remained alive and separate and capable of transforming. Could be interesting, especially if he had remained a Decepticon.
A crazy design + Years of never being in the spotlight + Cool Depiction thanks to Cyberverse = Cult Favourite. Even when they’re some of the more obscure Wreckers characters, they always know how to Wreck & Rule!
Awesome characters and I love that they have a Decepticon counterpart now as well. No character seems obscure enough in the universe of the TRANSFORMERS!!
I'm still amazed that _such_ an obscure pair of character like Rack 'n' Ruin managed to make the jump from very minor Marvel UK characters (I actually thought they were mute initially, they never actually spoke at all until much later in the series) to fully fledged animated ones, complete with toy.
Oh yeah, I forgot that it was Saturday. Very happy to see Rack N' Ruin, I've been infatuated with them ever since I first learned about them, and I was ecstatic to learn that they were getting a figure.
The Rack N'Ruin cyberverse version is one of my favorite Cyberverse characters who is not only buddy buddy with one another, not only trust each other but also work together.also the Cyberverse version of Rack N'Ruin may be dimwitted but a loyal determine and loveable member of the Cyberverse Heroic Autobots, also the Marvel comics version Of Rack N' Ruin is a heroic Autobot, but also a Member of the Legendary Marvel comics version of The Wreckers in the Marvel comics Transformers Continuity,Also thanks for sharing Chris 👌 them coming and until next time Till All One.☺😄💪👊🇺🇸💻📱
My favorite duo of the wrecker team. I just love the idea of a conjoined twin that had to do merge to save their lives. I’m so glad these two got more love recently.
I cannot even begin to tell you how surprised and excited I was to see them show up in Cyberverse. They were the last major character from the original Marvel Wreckers to never show up anywhere else, and seeing them finally get some limelight was a treat. Finding out they were finally getting a new toy put me over the moon, and now they sit on my shelf at work dedicated to Wreckers figures.
I used to have a Pretender called Doubleheader. The shell had two heads and the robot inside turned into a jet with two nosecones. I do like the updated look for Rack & Ruin. Their back stories are very interesting.
Love these two. All their designs are so unique and quirky. One of the treasures in my collection is UK-style Rack N Ruin made by a teeny little 3D printing seller. They partsform into Siege Weaponizers
I have a copy of that same 3D printed figure! The designer did such a wonderful job! I bought another fan-made Rack 'n' Ruin online which matches the Aligned continuity version perfectly. It's a kit of 3D printed (and pre-painted) parts sold with two copies of a green, oversized KO of Combiner Wars Warpath. It's super nifty! Between getting the 3D printed G1 Rack 'n' Ruin, getting an official Cyberverse toy, and putting a third version together from the kit on eBay it's been quite a busy two years for the obscure Wreckers duo!
@@majororion2374 Maybe A Catamaran; I Feel Like There Aren't Enough Boat Alt Modes In The Series With The Only Notable Ones Being Sea Spray And Tidal Wave.
you know if they ever do a Transformers X Star Wars done right, with transformer characters turning into star wars vehicles, the cloud-car or the tie-bomber would be perfect fit for Rack'n'Ruin.
Rack 'n' Ruin are definitely one of the more obscure characters. I love the wrecking duo and it's a massive shame we don't have more toys of them. The Wreckers motto of Wreck and Rule could easily just be Rack and Ruin.
I've never heard of these characters before but I'm already taking a liking to them. I love how simple and not Transformers like their old designs are a lot. They look just like generic battle mechs and even power armored soldiers in those later designs before their "reboot" for the cartoon.
4:43 My expanded Robertverse also gives them their IDW backstory (minus a few details). Along with fact that medics managed to separate them sometime after Retribution. They also managed to help stabilize their sparks during their separation..
Ever since I was a kid I’ve always been fascinated by these two. Thank you for the video Chris! I am hoping that one day we will see generations figures of them.
Perhaps but it depends on if that whole “losing one of the halves of a split spark pairing will result in eventual death” is canon to the Aligned continuity It would make some sense cause Dreadwing did seem to have a “I don’t fear death” attitude
I never realized before watching the Cyberverse finale that Doublecrosser, the Mercenary repaint of Rack N’ Ruin, was based on the Earthrise Weaponizer. For a while, I thought he was another original character before seeing his Earthrise toy somewhere online. Now I kinda wish Rack N’ Ruin’s toy would’ve been repainted to make Cyberverse Doublecrosser.
When again Chris you delivered a wonderful revie on a character so obscure I didn’t even know we existed. As their own character till now I look forward to then next episode of the basics?!
Always love it when Marvel UK Transformers characters get more attention, yes...?! PS: Speaking of the UK, this is obviously a long-shot, but I'd really love it if Chris could do a Basics on the Ladybird Books Transformers series that came out back in the day...
I see what you did there :D and I completely agree. Also a basics on non-cybertronian mechanoids or the freelance peacekeeping agent in particular would be worth it's weight in shanix Did those ladybird books come with cassettes? I feel like they did. I think I had Laserbeak's Fury
@@insanimal2 Yes, yes they did - non-transforming cassettes, unfortunately, but still very cool - if only we could have some Big Finish audio adaptations of Marvel/IDW Transformers comics nowadays, yes...?
I have an idea for a darker more serious version of Rack n Ruin. Originally separate, and members of Cybertron's Military before the war. They joined the Autobots and gained a reputation for recklessness but ended up causing great damage to the Decepticons. Rack transformed into an Armoured Halftrack, Ruin a Tank. They continued causing the Decepticons grief until Megatron was called up to deal with them. A trap for them was set up by Megatron during a major operation in Cybertron's Equatorial region, Rack and Ruin were surrounded and taken down. During the incident, Rack's left side was blown off, Ruin lost his right side. Megatron had their bodies conjoined by Shockwave to save them, then tried to turn them into Decepticons. However despite his best attempt, the 2 broke out and dealt the Decepticons a heavy blow and were able able to return to Autobot lines. Rack n Ruin continue to fight for the Autobots and poses a greater hate for Decepticons than before. Personality wise, both are ruthless in battle, they dont muck around with Cons. They don't care much for small talk, and have little patient for incompetent officers. Neither of the 2 particularly liked each other, but as the War has dragged on they've learned to live with each other and respect the others skills. Due to the efforts of Shockwave during their capture, Rack n Ruin can still Transform. Their conjoined vehicle mode is a Turreted Armored Halftrack.
I love these guys. Would be cool to get another figure in the legacy line. The wreakers are awesome, and I heard they have a wreakers line coming out. I think Amazon exclusive
I really love the breakdowns of all the characters. But, after re-watching the episodes of The Seekers (Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp), I was getting to wonder when The Conehead Seekers (Thrust, Dirge, and Ramjet) were gonna get their due? One at a time or all at once. Either or would make good viewing, in my humble opinion.
Can we just talk about how Star Saber, Lockdown, and friggin Ruckus were on Thunderclash’s shortlist for the Wreckers. Please give me that team I need such a manic combination of rough and tumble usual wreckers, a Supermanlike hero, a mercenary, and literally a Decepticon (loud one at that) trying to function as team.
@@Cdr2002 a team of Lockdown, Star Saber, Impactor, Springer, Bulkhead, moonracer, Aileron, Hot shot, Thunderclash, etc, would’ve been so fucking badass too, it sucks so bad
The most likely reason why wreak n’ ruin couldn’t transformer back in the 80s comic was probably Hasbro’s excuse so they didn’t have to make a toy of them.
The weirdest of the weird left for last. Always together and never forgotten. I found this bot (bots?) truly unique and intriguing in the history of The Wreckers. I'm glad to see the character(s) still getting treatment, albeit slightly modified.
Great video! Thank you! Now THIS is the kind of character that sould be included in Action Masters 2 -- er, I mean, the R.E.D. line. Doesn't neet to transform, can be articulated like crazy, come with swappable hand / hammer / anvil attachments and removable helmets. Ditto Nightbird, TransMutate, "Autobot X" Spike, Quintessons, Ten, Krok, Garnak, etc. It baffles me that they're making transforming figures of characters that don't transform, and non-transforming figures of characters that DO transform. Dogs and cats, living together -- MASS HYSTERIA!!!
You should do the basics on the mercenary faction along with age of extinction lock down and maybe the deceptions in robots in descise and any bots that bounty hunt.
Another great video as always! I've never heard of these characters before. I definitely prefer their IDW origin. But I definitely like their cyberverse design better than the others.
I absolutely love any coverage of the Marvel UK original characters. I lived in England from August 1985 to August 1987 and loved how they supplemented the American comic.
Quick question about Doublecrosser, did his appearance in Cyberverse inspire his Earthrise toy(battle master that turned into a shield), or was it the toy that inspired the appearance in the show? I'm just asking because I didn't know he appeared in the show.
@@ChrisMcFeely Yes, and I have it. They're a shield and a Decepticon rather than a member of the Mercenary faction featured in the trilogy and the Cyberverse cartoon.
👋😳😃👍 these guys are pretty cool and I like the Decepticon version 2 would have been nice if they transform into a jet and the Decepticon version transform to the armored car 👌😉😌👍
If we ever see these guys again, joined at the shoulder, I think it'd be interesting to give them some sort of dual cockpit airplane alt mode, like a modified or cybertronian twin mustang, as well as for each to have the ability to sort of transform into a large makeshift arm for the other. Of course, they'd be a larger figure, for having all these configurations, but then maybe they could separate to be the individual arms of a small combiner
I'm just going to say it, if Hasbro is looking for characters to include in their next show as lead Autobots and Decepticons outside the usual picks like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream, the Obscure Characters playlist gives them plenty of unique options to bring into the spotlight.
I know this is gonna sound dumb, but they sort of remind me of the Rutile Twins from Steven Universe. (I have a feeling that The Transformers inspired the creation of Steven Universe.)
The evil counter part double crosser I think is based off from a Battle Master from the War For Cybertron Earthrise Crossguard. Another excellent video man I love watching all your videos. Can’t wait for the next one. Mirage still needs a basics video.
Can't unsee Search Man, Rack and Ruin being green don't help either. Search man is also military themed so he's more camo than green but they're both still green, 2 headed robots.
