i think this was a promo for producers rather than a trailer.

If anything movie trailers spoiled more back then

@@aavenzor I know it sounds crazy but that trailer came on at night in the middle of Dallas I was like WTF is this!? I told my mother someone really wanted my parents to see how much I will wanted to see this film.

It took me years to see the movie again when I was a Kid. I eventually managed to tape it off of the television one day, but a year later my uncle taped over it. T_T

I can still hear Dallas theme song as I pretended to sleep during nap time!

There were so many characters missing. I wrote a modified version with more violernce and death. Would love to animate it someday.

@@soljwf5664 oh yeah I was there as well. Sept 1st 1986 Labor Day. My brother took me to see it cause I was throwing a fit to go to see it and my deddy promised me I would get to see it. The day before my deddy was going to take me to see it and instead we went to see Karate Kid 2. And he promised me then "You will get to see it I promise you!!" My deddy (as always) was good as his word ❤ He passed away July 9th 2021 and man oh man do I miss my hero. I'm crying just typing this to you. I miss being a child cause things were so much better then. I miss the 80ies so much!! Anyone that didnt grow up in that time sure missed a good time!!

That cartoon was great, man. Not perfect, some episodes were terrible but it was still great.

Louche I’d love to see someone restore this trailer and fix the differences in animation in order to splice these scenes into the film.

Welp it had to be cut due to ultra magnus in his diaclone colours since either Hasbro hasent decided what his colours and noticed in Japanese media transformers scramble city has comfirmed what colours he should be in was too late to change the colours

lol back then no one cared. I mean you had much more violent bloody movies (rambo) and adult comedies (ghost busters) being marketed at kids. It was a much MUCH different time.

While I agree fully, when Prime died, a fuckton of kids were crying like crazy.

Devil Drill Beam I know this movie was meant to promote the new toy line, but it just proves war does spare anyone. You won't ever see another kids show do something like this ever again in todays age.

+Football Forever It's actually the music used in Star Trek III when the Enterprise arrives at the Genesis planet and confronts the Klingons.

It was on the 2006 DVD release by Sony, but with the audio muted because of the temp score.

I'm from the future and it's past the 35th anniversary and still none of that extra footage used in the extras and they did a 4k Blu ray steel book edition and they still don't add it but hopefully on the next release they do so

I don't know why a lot of those great shots were left out the city also looks more silver as opposed to the orange look.

It's pretty dark - I've seen the movie many times and I see the original Japanese had a bit more rhythmic motion of electronic blood vessels. I saw the movie in theaters when I was, I think 4, and remembered the slaying of the autobots on the ship being pretty dark as well. But what stayed with me was the superior quality of the animation and the overall plot conviction of the good guys, that good wins over evil. And I remember the great music and fun personable like-able characters. Nothing like the Michael Bay CG movies - tearing robots in half, impaling, dismembering, oil bleeding, oil pissing, etc... now THOSE are sick movies that twist kids minds (par for the course considering the enormity of bad writing these days). The writers of the original 1986 movie were concerned with values and distinguishing good from evil. Some of the anime available at the time were Ducktales, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Voltron and Thundercats (all American Writing, Highly skilled Japanese Animating). Considering how long it must have taken to animate every image, all the material and man-power they MADE SURE this was top-notch. Something I doubt that can ever be replicated again.

The Autobots were dangerously low on Enerjon at the time. It was supposed to be a secret run to Autobot City to get some more but the Decepticons hijacked them and pretty much caught them with their pants down. The Darkest hour of the Autobots.
